Womens Ashes turning into a complete disaster. Hard to disagree with the consensus that there's not enough competition for places. Some shocking performances but seemingly nobody else waiting in the wings to step up.

Shame as while the Aussies have been well ahead of everyone else in the womens game we seemed to making good progress but the last few years we've been going backwards.

Think the men have been watching the Womens team. From 83-2 to 147-9. Rashid and Wood putting on 24 from the last 3 overs has probably just about kept England in this one

Another bears signing for the start of the season Vishwa Fernando who has played for a few our counties already.

Rashid is going for a MOTM performance here. Between his runs at the end of the innings and his bowling he's putting England in a very strong position to go on and win this

Pandya holding the pose after a 6 when his team were so far behind would have pissed me off if I was his team mate

Women looking like they could be "clean swept". Already in trouble day one of the only Test.

They need to get back to basics like playing cricket and getting fit instead of messing about making tik toks

Tour has been an absolute fucking shambles. Not saying its easy to beat the Aussies, especially over there, but this has just been a disaster. Not even close to making a mark.

Maybe this will give things a much needed shake up as this has been a long time coming. Ever since the Commonwealth Games its been consistent underperforming and trying to kid everyone they were just a bit unlucky.

Do they have replacements available I don’t watch a lot of ladies cricket to know and part of the problem is when they come in they are in poor condition like Alice Capsey?

This is a huge part of the problem. There's not many options coming through and the ones that are they seem to coach any raw talent out of them.

Look at Izzy Wong, in the England team, picked in the IPL etc then it was decided her action needed 'improving' and she can barely hit the strip to the point she's hardly playing domestic cricket let alone international.

The drop off from the standard in the Hundred, which is obv full of imports, to the domestic game is startling.

Aussies 172 ahead with 6 wickets left. Wonder if they'll go for an early declaration and get England in tonight under the lights. The way this tour is going you wouldn't bet against a few wickets falling tonight before being skittled out tomorrow.

In other news ECB have accepted a bid from the owners of Mumbai Indians to buy Oval Invincibles. How on earth can nobody at the ECB see the potential issues coming down the line if IPL owners are allowed to take over English teams?

Apparently Trump has said the selection criteria for the England Women's Cricket Team included preference for those with disabilities involving "hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism".

I wonder if the England team are disappointed that the Aussies didn't declare to give them a chance to have another abject batting performance and be all out by close of play so they could all fly home tomorrow to get on with their social media careers!? 🤔😉

More sightseeing time as most of this useless lot won’t be in Australia again.

Shambolic to the end. An innings defeat and 16-0 loss.

In any sane world serious questions would be getting asked of the management team and a lot of those players would be wondering if they will ever play for England again but apparently you're not allowed to ask questions or suggest the level of performance hasn't be good enough.

And of course the huge problem that we don't exactly have players queuing up to take their place.

I'd be tempted to make wholesale changes, short term pain to hopefully be a position to actually challenge at the 2026 T20 World Cup which is being held here.

Problem is no-one's going to be asking the hard questions or pointing fingers because of the way they've reacted recently eg Sophie Hartley problems. Other issue is what is the pool depth - around 80-90 professionals. Aussie women's cricket is played as hard as the men's - their 20/20 tournament is way ahead of England's as well. They'll take great delight in "nilling" England and so they should.
Lions took a big defeat but that really is a development team now rather than a B side looking to break into the first team. Other issue there is a lot of players who should be looking to push into first team are scattered around the world earning good money in the host of 20/20 competitions going on .

Not just the low number, it's the drop off in quality. The Hundred sides struggle to have a squad of decent quality when they're packed with overseas players. If you ever watch the other domestic women's competitions the drop off in quality is staggering.

That's one of the issues. They've been professional for over 10 years now. Had investment that way exceeds the income they generate. yet seemingly there isn't improvement relative to investment
