Worrying when you listen to that dodo Key as to who the next ones are and he didn’t mention Woakes who should be leading the attack certainly this summer.

Did the England supporters forget there was a game today. I’ve seen one other England fan and I’ve seen two Aussies!

Average batting by the bears tonight, but the bowling was really good and some of the fielding amazing the catch by Bethell is something else.

Pisses me off that they've made all of the tiers of the south stand, except the balcony outside the Dollery Suite, corporate now and it's all empty. That entire end of the ground used to be members only.

Pretty sure only having a few rows of seats was not what was promised when members were persuaded the work was essential to the clubs future.

Has a host nation ever played their opening World Cup game in front of a smaller crowd?

Understand the desire to break the USA but not sure this plan is going to work

West Indies haven't really pulled a crowd for their first game.

West Indies crowds have been dire for a while now. The powers that be spend more time falling out with each than concentrating on running the game

They seem to be reliant on visiting fans but not sure how that will work out for a pretty long tournament like this

What an incredible game. This is exactly why people have been pushing for more associate nations in World Cups.

Thought they were going to VAR it to Pakistan for a minute!

Warwickshire tonight Ali went for 39 in his first 2 overs for no wickets. He bowled the last over and took 3 wickets for 8 runs.
As a certain Mr Greaves used to say about football "funny old game".

very winnable but looks like we're going to throw wickets away. 2 down already.

not the best crowd. between the scheduling, the clashing with other big events and the weather you'd be tempted to stay at home. seems to be managed decline of the Blast so they can bin it off, or make it a second tier competition like they have with the one day cup, saying its not as popular as the Hundred

I like the one day cup you get to see some different players and the bears young players will be very strong.

They could make a real spectacle of the blast but they persist with that other rubbish, I would get rid of the hundred and have an fa cup style t20 tournament as well.

Watching Afghanistan dismantle I think it’s time for The Bears to make the call to bring Trotty home and get rid of Robinson.

I like the 50 over comp as it is blooding new younger players. Sacrifing the Blast for the Hundred is just nonsense - basically it's Sky pushing it and also women's cricket (as it's the only really big money, attendances they get for their domestic game). Blast still doesn't attract big names and Hundred has struggled to do so.

This is bloody terrible. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to open the bowling with Jacks ? Momentum firmly given to Australia. Pathetic

Hate to do it but think I'm going to have to defend Sky here. They weren't pushing for a new competition and certainly weren't pushing for a new format. Remember that when the broadcast deals were signed for what became the Hundred the ECB were promising to deliver a T20 competition.

Domestic cricket is a time filler for Sky. A game that takes place over the summer when they have no football to show but a ridiculous number of sports channels schedules to fill. Why would Sky want to replace a competition they have exclusive rights to, that lasted all summer with 133 games with one where they share coverage with the BBC that only lasts for a few weeks with 34 games?

This is all the ECBs work.
