Crowd today (1 Viewer)

Chief Commentator!
CWR say all attendances have had discrepancies this season. Wonder why that is? Surely the Police wouldn't lie? Gone are the days of our attendances being upped rather than reduced like they seemed to be at the Ricoh. Many a time I sat there thinking 'there's more than that here'

They count the stewards, the police, players families and today added the sky tv crew.

The police give the amount of people in the ground, the club give the number of tickets sold, so there is usually a small discrepancy given that a few ST holders will not turn up for whatever reason. Today the discrepancy was bigger because the game was on TV and clearly a few decided not to bother going. The police figure represents the turnstile count.

BBC said 2078 and Sky said Sheff Utd had about 1200 fans there.

Who knows is the answer.

Using the figures suggested in this thread...

Total attendance - away fans = City fans
2078 - 1200 = 878
1751 - 950 = 801

Whichever way you cut it, it is very low with Utd fans outnumber City fans.

Be it 878 or 801 that surely has to be the lowest amount of city fans at a game since the 1880's?

That makes sense as before the discrepancies were only 30-40 people but today were a couple of 100. Suspect a few of the season ticket holders gave today a miss and watched on sky.

Why do the police count it now anyway? Did they use to do that back at the Ricoh and HR?

What happens if the police lose count or somebody interrupts them? Do they start again?

Who knows ?. But a tiny ground had a tiny amount of people in it. Really are bad times OFF the pitch. Great credit to the team btw.

What was the crowd today?

This is not addressed to any individual but the whole incredible ethos pervading this forum.

Just stop and think. How pathetic is reveling in the low gates?

Will you feel a warm glow of satisfaction when you finally win and kill off this fantastic team?

Please explain how you could you possibly expect to hurt SISU before killing the club?

The only outcome you might achieve is killing the club and SISU walking away ruffled but pretty much totally unscathed!

Is that a better outcome than you changing your viewpoint and doing a U-turn to actually support the team you all still claim to support?

No! I hear you cry! We will never give in! That would mean loosing face and letting SISU win!

Didn't I hear you criticise the stakeholders for not compromising to reach an agreement?

Show them the way lads! support your own team!

or is that too radical for today?

So we should do whatever Sisu ask then? Good plan.

How exactly are we going to kill the club?

A club the size of Ccfc has never been killed.

You talk about hurting Ccfc, well moving the club out of the city is about as bad as it gets. Whatever happens next could never be any worse than that.

Sisu have put city fans in a position where we have nothing to lose, that's a very dangerous game for them to play.

The habit of going to matches has gone now. Thanks to the club being moved. 1/5 (or even less) of the revenue they had before. A return to within the City boundaries has to come pretty soon. Or the club will be 'killed'.

Sisu and Sisu alone have reduced our club to a laughing stock. How any rational person could defend them to any degree is beyond comprehension. That game yesterday will have gone out over Europe, beamed to many countries, it will give football fans in many places all the wrong impressions about CCFC. A tinpot club with no fans. Like the famous lager advert - only Sisu could have done this.
Pressley has done wonders with both hands tied behind his back and both legs tethered. That game would have pulled in 15,000+ at the Ricoh. I'd imagine the Sisu investors will be getting restless. They are very likely wondering where the new stadium is as well. Probably wondering why THEIR money is being flushed down the toilet on 2 fronts. At Northampton with dwindling and pathetic attendances and all the missed income at the Ricoh.
There is no way a player or two won't go in January to stem losses. & other clubs will be looking at Pressley.
Time to face up to it Sisu. You've made the biggest cock up yet.
Time to do the sensible thing and bring out club back to Coventry where it belongs and using common sense to thrash out a workable deal there.

The club give the number of tickets issued not necessarily 'sold'.
It is very likely the majority of the discrepancy was people given free tickets who didnt bother going but watched on TV instead.

I don't see revelling in the low attendances on this thread, I just see a discussion of what the attendance was. I think if you ask most Sky Blue fans what they think of the attendance they will say that it is very sad that it has come to this. That is not to say fans are right or wrong for going or not going to Sixfields, just that everyone is doing what they think is right for them. And it is sad that the consequence of the chain of events that has taken place is that the attendance is now so low.

I remember a poster saying how proud they were that attendances were so low...

There is a difference between being proud of low attendances and being proud of fans maintaining their principled stance.

I suspect the poster you are referring to was misunderstood in this.

I'm sure none of us want to be in a situation where we are getting low crowds.

Lets be clear, even if we filled sixfields every week, ccfc would still be playing in front of the lowest league crowds in its history.

To be fair, I was on the hill yesterday and their were some whoops of joy when news of the attendance came through which for me was the only negative from a good day spent with some great people. I'm not judging those that reacted like that, but that sort of thing isn't for me.
