Footie is a squad sport now especially if the more substitute rule remains. Everyone has their favourite 11 players but selection will change game to game depending on the opposition and current fitness. There will be some players MR will always want in the team if fit like O'Hare and dare I say it Kelly. A fit Dabo is another. Even Hamer was rested near the end of last season and James as well. Osti was rested after the International. I think the strikers will rotate possibly two on two off in the second half.

We were the joint 4th worst team in the league with two others for GA. It was also glaringly obvious that mistakes at the back were causing us significant issues in games.

Do you not think that's a problem in need of solving? We need improvements in that department otherwise last season's issues will just plague us once again this season.

Well the reason for that is he hasn’t played a game yet. And hasn’t looked close since he signed. Did he even make the bench? Also the fact Robins is apparently after two LWBs suggests he doesn’t rate him much either.

I hope Rose and Dabo step up. I hope McFadzean has another year in him. The rest are OK as backup but I’d want better if we’re to progress from last season where our defence was our weakest point.

I agree. Reid has played 20 first team games in the Scottish Premiership for a team near the bottom of the league. He's got injured when he joined, but didn't make it on the bench at all last season when he did get fit despite us only having one lwb.

Rose was hit and miss with injury problems, Hyam struggles especially in possession for long periods, Fadz played well at the end of the season but was still at fault for too many goals and is a year older. I wasn't particularly convinced with Dabo last season either, but hopefully that is just injuries.

On paper that defence without McCallum and Osti is weaker, but there are still signings to come.

Sheaf is levels above Kelly imo
Different type of players. But as always your viewpoint is typically moronic. I’ve concluded at this point that you must either be Grendel or his son - there can be no other explanation for your nonsense.

How are they different types of players? Would you play both together?

Depends on the formation Sparksy. Kelly is the defensive midfielder who disrupts the opposition and has incredible work rate and drive. A lot of his work is un-noticed but he's a vital cog in our team.

Sheaf is more of a ball player and is best suited to a more offensive role. The question from last season would be - do you play Sheaf ahead of James, O'Hare and Hamer - I would have said no. But I would always have wanted Kelly in the team. For this season I'm looking for Sheaf to progress into a more commanding role - and after one season in the Championship under his belt he's got everything to play for.

Crazy how people view players in different lights. I would say Sheaf is anything but offensive.

When we had Matty James. I don’t know how we’ll survive with that waste of space Sheaf

It's so easy to simply write off players behind a key board - particularly when you have continuously demonstrated a total lack of knowledge of the game.

How about something more balanced or at least trying to support the lads in the shirt vs. constant negativity?

It's tiring for the rest of us - must be tiring for yourself to be so negative about the team you claim you support? Serious suggestion.

No Danny I actually do support the club I don’t just attend once every few years👍🏻 Why do you ignore my posts where I’m positive like when I said Shipley should be captain?

To be fair I’m with Boosh on this one. Although they’re both defensive midfielders Sheaf is a better footballer. Kelly has qualities such as leadership, organisation and influence. But based purely on ability Sheaf is ahead of Kelly

Next time you post something positive Boosh my friend - I will be sure to comment on it.
As I've probably previously said; my job took me overseas for over 20 years - and I don't think that makes me less of a fan than anyone else.
I really like Shippers and want him to succeed but can't see how he should be captain without a certain place in the starting line up?

That's ok procdoc and always respect your balanced opinion. My own view is that Kelly was far more influential when he played last season than Sheaf and they are different players - not writing Sheaf off at all - just what I saw last year.

I think after last season Sheaf will have learned a lot from playing and training with Kelly and James and I hope he can continue to improve as he could potentially make us a lot of money

Why are you being so negative about Sheaf? Do you even support us? What if he reads this?

I'm not being negative. I just said I'm not writing him off at all - right? It's tricky for any young player adjusting to the Champ and looking forward to seeing what he can do this season.
