A well written piece, but painful to read in so many ways....apparently might be printed in tomorrows paper too ?
Looks like we can add Steven Hunt and Kevin Doyle to the players we didnt have the balls/funds to sign.
As per usual, great scouting....shame about the mismanagement, which meant we didnt/couldnt sign them :facepalm:

Yep, knew about Hunt and Doyle at the time. Doyle was lined up by Black, and rather than back him with the peanuts needed to sign him...we sacked him! Still, it must all be the managers fault, right?

Probably the best and saddest article from a national newspaper journalist about my club I've read for years...Moxley definitely 'gets it'. As Micky Adams says...great club,great supporters and we deserve better. We certainly do...

it genuinely bought a tear to my eye. I was only 5 when we won the FA Cup so for me it is a very distant memory. I feel sorry for the kids who were 5 when we got relegated, they've had absolutely nothing to cheer so most of them now follow man utd or chelsea and who can blame them? The next generation will go on to support Man City etc unless something drastic happens

That makes us the same age mate. My brother (3 years older) keeps on saying the same thing to me - at least we were able to watch Cov in the Premiership years. However, southampton were in the same position to us three years ago and look where they are now SO IT CAN BE DONE!

I remember when we used to look down on the likes of Wigan and Fulham from 4 divisions higher...I used to mock sides like Bolton for having the temerity to consider themselves a top flight side (5-1! ). I'm not sure I entirely envy them as their castle looks to be built on sand. But we are a lot further away from getting back than the likes of Southampton were even when at their lowest ebb

It was easier to go then as well, as the quality of football was so much better (nothing to do with AT) the players on show were some of the best in the country week in week out that you got to watch, so it was more entertaining, even though we did struggle year in year out mostly.

Anyone that can really should read the book mentioned. I bought it at a carboot sale a few years ago and its a great read. Tells stories of exactly what was happening behind the scenes during a premiership season.Excellent book.

An excellent, well written critique of our club in its current state. Moxey's piece is extremly accurate and hits the nail right on the head, he is clearly a very astute journalist and one to be applauded.

In terms of the future I am perhaps a bit more optimistic than some in the sense that I see the end of Sisu by the end of this season at the latest. They have greedy shareholders who will want a return on their investment which clearly will not happen, so they will after a fire sale in January either cut and run then, or at least by the end of the season.

As they have stated they will not keep throwing money at the club, and I seem to remember that they have only guaranteed funding until the end of the season. What then? Well it seems to me they will have no option but to either sell up or put us in admin.

I know admin or relegation would be a disaster, but as Moxey speculates I truly believe the potential investors (yes if any, but I believe there are) will move in when the club is a snip to buy, rather than lining SISU's pockets with 30 million. Lets face it what sane buisness person would do otherwise.
If not we will be in big trouble, but I just cant see SISU holding on, so if not admin they may be prepared to cut their losses and take a low bid, so either way they will be gone.

As I have accepted relegation and the pain of it, and the possibility of potential admin, (and no I cant see us going into liquidation or out of buisness) I can now genuinelly see a bright future and am optimistic for the next few years, as they will be long gone and we can slowly but surely move on, hopefully onwards and upwards.

Yes many people may disagree, yes my views are simplistic, but I want and need hope, and frankly if accepting one or both of the potential evils of relegation or admin, that will both surely happen, for it to mean SISU have gone and we can move on, then yes I can and do look foward to a new start and a brighter future.

perhaps the investors could come out of the woodwork, & then insist that no monies should be paid to 'sisu' because of their diabolical abysmal -'crap' advice,
if the investors were to go public, don't think the 'mob' would be too chuffed ?

yeah good piece sums it up really eh what a fantastic job that crook richardson did of our club took over the reins in 1994 premiership football,owning our own ground (shit remember when we didnt think twice about that?) just 8 years later when he buggered off in 2002 championship football, renting a stadium to the tune of 1million a year, and 60 feckin million in debt and no way out yep thats the real cause where is he now anyone know? should of been tried at the high court and banged in the slammer for 20 years no early release WANKER

Well, at least he "had a punt"! For all that we can blame Richardson for launching us into the wilderness years with his delusions of grandeur, he also presided over a period which contains most of my cherished footballing memories. Which did you enjoy most: the Phil Neal side containing the likes of Rennie, Pickering, Flynn etc; or the Strachan side featuring McAllister, Keane, Hadji and.....PAUL TELFER!

SISU thought about "taking a punt" for 5 minutes. Then sold the dice.

I agree. I'm looking forward when these faceless bastards have gone (and they will be gone shortly) and we can rebuild the club again. We live in a big city and even if we did go down even out of league are gates even then would attract decent players at that standard to come back. Something tells me some good will come out of what SISU have done. We'll rebuild and come again...this city fights back and so will the club. Always has and always will do....

I just want SISU to receive some lasting damage to there reputation for what they did to our club.

I think you have to look to the future and it will eventually turn out good, but at the moment the hurt around the club is crippling the life out of it!!!
