Not going to bang the drum but Burroughs was that younger player and dual use, mismanaged for me!
Could not get back into the Lincoln side after the car crash and is not a first choice in Scotland. Not looking like a player who is going to sort us out. He wasn't great in pre=season either.

Robins changed the habits of a lifetime (over 800 games managing in football) to go for a completely different approach to recruitment. The strong hints were coming from Robins he had relinquished control of transfers. King only said he signed off on them. That does not mean he was making the decisions. No manager is going to say "No I don't want any more players".
To be fair to Robins unless I’ve missed something he never had access to a massive kitty and often had to be pragmatic to building squads.

Regardless on the roles, it’s been mentioned Robins had final say and set our requirements, this doesn’t mean he scouted and personally had opinions (although assume recruitment would be under one of the leadership groups remit) but does mean he chose the positions and profiles.

Without any insider information, I personally can’t blame one party, both were the leadership group, both response imo until proven otherwise

I never understood this logic that you can be good with a little bit of money but terrible with more money tbh.

It’s more that you don’t really know how a manager wants to build a squad until you give them a pot of money as opposed to them having to be pragmatic with signings.

Not saying he was shite because he could spend last year, more you don’t know what he wanted based on when he couldn’t ask for a lot. Stoke will be interesting in this regard

Not sure I follow this either tbh. Stoke will be interesting I agree.

I’m terrible with writing to be fair.

Point is pragmatism vs idealism. Robins first chance to be idealistic came with the funds he got from Vik and Hamer.

Can’t just say Doug forced signings on him because of how he acted previously when he had no funds and weren’t able to make the same decisions.

Its annoying cos we changed chairman and recruitment team at the same time as he got money so we can never definitively say.

Liam Kitching - Ok/Decent potential - Annoying one as a lot to like IMO, good on the ball and decent on the defensive work however very inconsistent and reported bad attitude.
I've said it before, I like Kitch

He looks like the only one in our defence with a bit of bite and who isn't an absolute soft touch, he'd play every game if I had my way

And if his reported 'bad attitude' is informing his colleagues in defence they are fucking useless, then I am fully in his camp

None of them are as good as Hamer, Vik, O'Hare and Fadz or have the influence of Kelly.
Not pointing the finger of blame here, just my opinion.
After all , we got lucky with Viktor and Hamer looks irreplaceable but we haven't recruited well and seem to have an excuse for all the replacements
