Here we go again. Got to get the likes from Ring of Steel to feel validated.
Legally speaking, I don't believe King would have had any oversight at all until the takeover was complete. He was brought in in the period between King agreeing to buy us and him having the takeover approved. It’s a fair assumption, but it’s also a fair assumption King had some oversight during that period. We just don’t know.
“I have known him for the best part of 20 years, knew him as a player, played against him when he was at Tottenham,” said Robins. “We have been on courses together and did our pro-licence together. He works his socks off every time I have seen him – when he was scouting for Southend he was in the car all the time, off to games and doing his pro-licence, his energy is incredible."

I have to assume that Boddy signed off on hiring Austin, but I have a hard time believing he did it unilaterally without any input from Robins.
Who cares anymore , alot of what's been said is out of anger , most of the players are nowhere near as bad as many say .
Right so he’s met him. If he’s your mate you don’t go “yeah we’ve been on courses together and I played against him once”
It would be correct. If the course was for a week ten years before you wouldn't say you've known him for a week.So if you did a course with a complete randomer lets say 10 years ago and you haven't spoken since, you'd claim you'd known him for 10 years?
I find that a bit sad.
Is that really the case with Shmmeee?
I liked his post, because I agreed with his thoughts.
You know I haven't got an agenda as I spent nearly a year off the site as the continuous arguing bored the fuck out of me, but here I am back, as I love my club, but I also agree with him and think Lampard wasn't the right appointment and our recruitment on the whole under Austin has been on average meh at best, and that's being generous.
It would be correct. If the course was for a week ten years before you wouldn't say you've known him for a week.
And those involved in football do come into contact at times. Was he supposed to list every time they have met since?
Again - I don't know the specifics of the law in the UK, but certainly in the US you wouldn't be allowed to even advise on strategic decisions before you've completed a takeover. I doubt King had anything to do with it.I think that’s a fair assumption. I find it hard to believe there wasn’t a hiring freeze or Kings input on a club he was already in the process of buying. Sisu agreed the sale on Nov 16, Austin came in a month later.
Oh it's not triggered, it's just pointing out the behaviour / patterns in most threads.
I don't think you need to get hung up on the definition of friend vs acquaintance. Clearly Robins knew him in a personal capacity and was an admirer of his work.Right so he’s met him. If he’s your mate you don’t go “yeah we’ve been on courses together and I played against him once”

It doesn't mean Robins was directly responsible for hiring him, but he had his fingerprints over most of the football-related hires during the SISU era.
That is my best guess too.Robins would've almost certainly been involved in the recruitment process.
It wouldn't have been just Boddy on his own.
Didn’t Robins actually say something along the lines of not knowing whether he was any good?
You're not making up that King hired Austin even though he didn't own the club then and that it was nothing to do with Robins though?
I don’t think a lot of the players are bad.
I think we had a scatter gun approach to recruitment in the summer, some fit the system some don’t.
We need to refine now. Sell those that haven’t worked and reinvest in players in positions we need.
Players like Kitching, EMC, Dovin will be good signings. There needs to be players knitting them together. Big CB, Quality LB and a commanding CMHave to agree. Can’t help but think one crucial signing this window could bring the best out of the players around them. I don’t think this Chelsea kid is that player.

I’d take the profit on Lati now and patch his position with a loan.Agreed, I keep saying it but we should focus on just signing one of those players this window ready for the summer. I worry if we let go of Lati and BTA, we’re going to be scrambling trying to sign 3/4 players. Makes little sense to me
There's only so good those signings can be if they require more (and presumably better and/or more expensive) players to subsequently come in and unlock their value.Players like Kitching, EMC, Dovin will be good signings. Well if EMC had kept his run up before he got injured surely he’d be worth way more than we paidThere's only so good those signings can be if they require more (and presumably better and/or more expensive) players to subsequently come in and unlock their value.
I think Kitching and EMC are both serviceable players at this level but neither has been good value for money, and that's the recurring theme with many of Austin's signings.
Maybe, but he hasn't.Well if EMC had kept his run up before he got injured surely he’d be worth way more than we paid
Maybe, but he hasn't.
I'm obviously keen to see him come back, but for a player who cost us £4 million quid almost a full year ago then you'd have hoped for more good performances than what we've seen by now.
Got to love SBT. Behind on this thread. Opened it to see Nick moaning about Shmmeee making things up and then, but two posts later, throwing his weight behind a tall tale he heard from an unattributed source.Didn't we have a loan lined up but they got injured?
Who was it who was posting on here about Robins fucking Alan Browne about thinking he can get Stamenic?
Yes infer if you want it to look that way.His comments quite obviously infer they knew each other well.
If you think otherwise. I'm afraid you suffer from a terminal case of idiot.
I know, but it doesn't change what we paid for him* There are only so many £4 million players we can sign, the fact that one of ours has spent half of last season on loan in L1 and half of this season struggling for form has held us back. He's not been here a full year though , he's been here 6 months

They'd agreed the sale - you don't just have the new boss running around hiring and firing people before he's officially taken over.Except this wasn’t the Sisu era as they’d sold the club a month before.
I'm not saying Robins didn't sign anyone. More suggesting that others may have also brought in people that weren't on his list so to speak. So basically robins signed no one? Didnt coach either? What did he do?
