Dean Austin position untenable (1 Viewer)

Thought about and would have years ago but not now, I would be a terrible investor/owner and couldn’t be bothered with the day to day shit and fans saying keep investing you tight arse.

That’s why Overson style is best. All of the praise none of the pressure. Come and go as you please. Drop some cash on specific things if you feel like it. Get treated like a hero among the fans.

The problem lies with us being spoilt with 2-3 genius players that don’t come along that often to a Championship team. With their sales, I thought we added greater depth that was missing but special players are just that, they transform teams and whilst I think a good squad now that can deal with injuries or suspensions, it’s not great and none of the potentials have stepped up to be better than we maybe hoped for and sadly, it’s missing that one who can lead or drag us up the league.

picking out previous recruits by Austin comparing them to predecessors is pointless, previous ones appointed Kasteneer and Jobello along with an asthmatic German, under Robins we signed and no doubt, under Lampard, we will continue to sign some shockers, not sure what’s different now other than our expectations and money

That's similar to my question earlier? The recruitment is being viewed in the context of signing those players, which was an exceptional event. Is it really that bad?
It's been shown so many times on here that Robins had final say on players. Don't choose to ignore that. It's not about blame, just don't try and rewrite history.

I'm not happy with the performance of the squad this season, whoever signed them or chose them. I do think most are better than results are showing.
Not like that poster to create an alternative reality.

If anything it seems like he personally wanted a couple of them.

He certainly wanted Dasilva. Clearly palmer. It seems BTA as well and Simms.

Robins did set out for specific players. Confirmed he demanded Gyok back at the club through Adi who stated he wasn’t keen.

Personally I think you do Robins a disservice to imply he lost all control. He would have had a say and would have had targets he wanted.

Funny you chose the post where mmttww was inventing his own reality there.

"But this is different now because it’s set up in a different way and it’s how I wanted it to be."

Taken from the same article you quoted. Robins was working in the way he wanted, with someone he wanted to work with. He and Austin are on the block for where we are, for better or worse.

OK. It that’s a different question to the one about who has a final say on transfers. Which is what this thread is about.

The issue isn’t really who has the last say. The issue is that we are operating in a rigid wage structure. You can identify as many players as you want but the crunch comes when you only have a certain top offer. You get the likes of Stamenic going elsewhere. You obviously have to find players who will accept less which in general means they aren’t as good. That’s not really the fault of the scout or the manager
