Palace and Ipswich
If that's the case, and if what I heard is correct about him only going to the right club, then I'm amazed he turned down Palace and thought he could bet better.
Palace and Ipswich
Sheaf got injured fairly early in preseason this year. I wonder if he would still be here if he hadn't. There's a good chance offers were withdrawn after the injury, especially with his previous injury record.
Maybe, maybe not. King last night defended Dr Roberts and said things like how fit the players were and that she had no involvement in team affairs or team performance. So why would she be helping choose the coaches if that's not an area she's involved with?
There was just so many inconsistencies last night. MR was given the blame for the new coaching set-up, yet a new coach will have to work with that set-up. Which suggests (and seemed to be alluded to) that the problem is the quality of the coaches that were hired. And if that's the case why has MR been castigated for it but Dr Roberts defended to the hilt?
Somewhere along the line something doesn't add up.
King is just smoke screening because of the flack he was getting for sacking Mark Robins. King has backed every decision made at the club. But is now trying to blame Mark Robins for some of the decisions made. That is what doesn't add up.
Crikey drop the agenda. Yawn.King is just smoke screening because of the flack he was getting for sacking Mark Robins. King has backed every decision made at the club. But is now trying to blame Mark Robins for some of the decisions made. That is what doesn't add up.
Tyson Fury.I'd be willing to support you mate, but only if we can sign a dual-position goalkeeper.
I know it sounds radical, but I'm sure there's one out there.
In my (dog shit Sunday League) experience every keeper I've ever played with, without exception, wants to play outfield in training (usually up front).
Surely there's one out there that can do us a job as a niggly centre-mid/centre-half when he turns out to be crap in goal. They're usually big lads who like punching things.
eCrikey drop the agenda. Yawn.

Post the agenda please. First time I have criticised King
I don't think it is in the head coach's remit to hire & fire the head of recruitment. If it’s true that Austin was brought into the club by Robins, ideally Lampard will be able to bring someone new in next summer.
They'd most certainly have an influence/a say on it. Robins most definitely would have done when the club employed Austin.I don't think it is in the head coach's remit to hire & fire the head of recruitment.
The structure at present is more like below but only those there will know how they interact & DK was on about creating a Director of Sport at some point who would presumably sit between DK & the other senior management.

Yep but Austin came in 2 months before King took over and started restructuring the club. They'd most certainly have an influence/a say on it. Robins most definitely would have done when the club employed Austin.
Yes, that’s true. It does show that Austin coming to the club had next to nothing to do with King though.Yep but Austin came in 2 months before King took over and started restructuring the club.

I never said he did, I just think Lampard isn't Austin's manager and won't be initiating any decision about his position.Yes, that’s true. It does show that Austin coming to the club had next to nothing to do with King though.
If Lampard wanted Roberts out then I have a hard time imagining he wouldn’t get his way on it.Roberts will be above Lampard and Austin. Director level is just below CEO and COO. She’ll be alongside the DoF.

As I understand it Lampard will communicate his squad needs to Austin who'll go out and try to satisfy them but there will also be financial issues and budgets that King & Taylor will set and character analysis Roberts will be involved in before anyone comes in.
I'd guess the reverse might hold true if Austin identifies someone he thinks we should recruit that he will seek Lampard's approval, I'd say Bassette is a case in point there, I don't think that was a role Robins was actively looking for but there was an opportunity to bring him in, it was agreed to do so and it has been a decent call.

As I said, unless you're involved it's impossible to know how it works & anyway the structure is evolving.Roberts will be above Lampard and Austin. Director level is just below CEO and COO. She’ll be alongside the DoF.

I think the org chart is largely irrelevant in a context like this tbh - it is obviously not your typical corporate environmentThat’s more about office politics than org charts.

Again - this is not a standard corporate environment.Hahaha ok. Titles don’t matter. Personal statements on responsibilities don’t matter. Involvement in certain level decisions don’t matter. Everyone’s job is whatever some guy on SBT needs it to be at that minute to support his argument.

Your org chart and titles tell you that Lampard reports directly to Roberts - which is clearly nonsense.
It might be an unpopular opinion but I agree with Gimoc that Dean Austin doesn’t seem the best man for the recruitment job. People say we’ve got an amazing squad of players but I’m still yet to see improvement in the defence or midfield. Yes, some of our forward signings have been decent but players like Dasilva, Rudoni, Torp, Simms, Kitching etc have been pretty inconsistent this season.
Either way, the manager won’t be reporting into Dr Roberts in any case. It’s clear that both Robins and Lampard will have a direct line to the owner. Even if we bring in a DoF who will arguably be the manager’s boss should that materialise.Hahaha ok. Titles don’t matter. Personal statements on responsibilities don’t matter. Her job description and role is pretty clear to understand to people who actually listen to what she and King has said about it. Not this nonsense conspiracy theory about her dictating to managers about tactics and recruitment.
In which case according to your hierarchy, Lampard is currently more senior to Roberts then.No Lampard would report to the DoF. For now he essentially is DoF like Robins was.
In which case according to your hierarchy, Lampard is currently more senior to Roberts then.
But in any case, DoF or not, I highly doubt that Lampard will ever report to anyone other than Doug King for as long as he’s here.
The fact that the only player I’d be confident of getting our money back on is Wright says it all.
People have said regularly that ‘since the performance director has come in, performances haven’t improved’ and made similar points about our recruitment because she does fitness and psychological testing. Her influence, with respect, has been massively overblown.Who has said she dictates tactics and recruitment? Are you doing that thing again?
