Can't go today. She had me booked for two Saturdays this season and today is one of them. So you will have to see her next week :smuggrin:I will tell her while your at the match
I get this. Musicians and sports people probably effect me most. Music and Sport just always been huge part of my life but also the older ones trigger certain memories. Ranking Roger, for example, took me back to teen years and refreshed memories of old friends, old experiences etc.I don't tend to get too upset about celebrities and musicians dying (stiff upper lip and all that), often wondering what the fuss is about, but Ranking Roger's passing really hit me. I guess having seen him perform so recently might have forged that bond.
Can't see them being around for much longer, given their ages and lie-style they once lead. I'm surprised they're still alive. The Rolling Stones cut short a big US concert tour because Mick Jagger is unwell.
He's 75. How much longer can they go on?
And so are they. Can't see them being around for much longer, given their ages and lie-style they once lead. I'm surprised they're still alive.
With all the women he's had and all of his children, he's probably on his 19th Nervous Breakdown? Can't see them being around for much longer, given their ages and lie-style they once lead. I'm surprised they're still alive.
I think another Bond girl died this month, in Goldfinger I think.Nadja Regin, a dark slavic woman who was in a couple of the early James Bond films.
She was 87. That tells you how old those films are now.

Toughest player ever ? We had our own Iron Man in George Curtis, but Tommy Smith was hard as nails.Tommy Smith 74, ex-Liverpool captain passed away.
He would be sent off every match he played these days.Tommy Smith 74, ex-Liverpool captain passed away.

I loved seeing Tommy Smith play. True hard man. RIP Tommy. YNWA.Tommy Smith 74, ex-Liverpool captain passed away.
Most clubs these days wouldn't employ the racist fuck. Though maybe if he was around these days he might be a bit more enlightened. He would be sent off every match he played these days.
Can you enlighten us please? Most clubs these days wouldn't employ the racist fuck. Though maybe if he was around these days he might be a bit more enlightened.

Blimey, different times but no excuse.Shocking stuff. Can’t believe someone could’ve said something like this at any time in history. Let alone recent history.
From his Wiki page:
“In 1988, Smith caused controversy after stating in an interview with the author Dave Hill that Howard Gayle "suffered from a black man's attitude towards the white man. See, everybody thinks whites have an attitude towards blacks. In reality it's blacks who have a problem with the whites... I used to call Howard the 'White Nigger'. Now that is a compliment. It was the only way I could find to describe that I thought he was OK." Smith then went on to comment to Hill that "I'm not prejudiced but if a coon moved in next door, I'd move, like most white people would. If my daughter came home with a nigger, I'd go mad. But I'm only being truthful and normal."[36] Smith intended to sue Hill, but found he had no grounds to take legal action as Hill had recorded all of Smith's comments on tape during the interview.“

Blimey never knew that. That is prehistoric attitude and shocking. Was going to write an article on Smith for Late Tackle magazine who I write for, but not sure now seeing he was like that. But I could include his rascist views ?well known to be a racist H. Not just different era type stuff but some real nasty shit. CJs post above is an example of the sort of stuff I'd heard about.

He kicked a ball I read at Wembley into the net, and for that he had his benefit stopped. I think I will do a piece on his career, as he was a Liverpool great, but will include his rascist views. It may be a generation thing but still comes across as outdated and wrong. My late father was a bit like that, I pulled him up on it on occasions, but he said " I'll say what I like in my own home." Told me to piss off if I was offended !There's certainly plenty of material to go at with him.
Sure he got done for benefit fraud because he was classed as disabled but got caught playing a match! I think it may have been him who claimed his Injury issues were down to misuse of cortisone injections though you might need to fact check that B.
An interesting comparison that a top player from the 70's needed to be on benefits in the first place. Would that happen now.He kicked a ball I read at Wembley into the net, and for that he had his benefit stopped. He had both knees replaced and hips and had arthritis too. In a wheelchair also at times I read in an article. Those hard physical players suffered badly when their careers ended. And financially weren't looked after like these days, just like those who served in the armed services in a way, are often left to their own devices. Sad really. An interesting comparison that a top player from the 70's needed to be on benefits in the first place. Would that happen now.
I know of him! That's a shocker! Not sure how well known he will be on here, but Paul Raymond of UFO. They've just finished their final UK tour as well.
I'll listen to Planet Rock later as they'll do a tribute no doubt. UFO are popular on there always playing Rock Bottom by the band. Not sure how well known he will be on here, but Paul Raymond of UFO. They've just finished their final UK tour as well.
Which one was he, i only know Mark King.Founding member of Level 42, Boon Gould, has died at the age of 64.
I got to know Kingy quite well when I used to do stuff at the Isle of Wight Music Club, ran by him and Rob Da Bank. Boon was a guitarist and sax player. Isle of Wight news is full of it...…...Which one was he, i only know Mark King.
