How can we not when we’ve had hardly any games?

I thought that, but then I looked at the games coming up after.

I imagine it being a small crowd. I’m gonna wait until Friday evening, take a LFT and as long as negative will buy our groups then. Main concern there is most others may have the same idea and a lengthy wait and the ticket office to collect…

Cant see more than 8,000 for this one inc away fans.

What an over reaction to the previous home game. Would not surprise by Thursday they realise the sales are poor and do pay on the gate.

Tbh the way things are going it'll be a question of who is healthy and available
Not just for us but for many teams until this omicron wave hopefully subsides
I think robins will want some game time in their legs so will go as strong as possible.

There is absolutely no way Robins will play a strong team with the packed run we've got coming up.

If we lose and Middlesbrough win. Could the Cardiff or Luton game be rearranged for that weekend?
The 4th round is the weekend we play forest

Couldn't give a shit tbh.

We're probably going to be outnumbered by Derby fans too. Don't know of a single person going to this

Play the U18s the game at Peterborough the following week is way more important

People saying this game doesn't matter - if we finish 7th in the league, we get not a penny more than if we finish 17th (other than it may affect attendance revenue) If we do win we get £82,000 and £90,000 for the 4th round and £180.000 for 5th round etc (plus attendances). May well be the difference between releasing money for a player, or not. Also gives us the opportunity for JJ, Eccles etc to get some competitive game time,

I'm going - so now you can say you know one. Perhaps if you go we won't be outnumbered by Derby fans?

I get the money situation, however the further we progress in the cup the more rearranged league games will be required.

Agree - but as regards the Derby game, we don't have a midweek fixture, we haven't played much recently, so this ought to be at least a useful preparation for the next ;proper' game against Peterborough. If we field a weak team, then don't beat Posh, manager and fans will be moaning that we looked 'rusty', with players not having played for a while - e.g, Hamer, Gyo, Dabo, whoever. I obviously would rest anyone carrying niggles,

I guess it's typical 'football is a game of opinions' so I get this may be quite polarizing, but I never understand just casting aside games, namely FA/League Cup. I support Coventry City, not Coventry City in the league. Of course, some games are more important than others, but I will do my best to be at every game I can be. There are no games where I just 'don't care' about. Not expecting a big crowd but this squad deserve every bit of support they can get so I hope a few change their mind closer to the day having had a few games cancelled of late.

Certainly wouldn't risk anyone carrying a knock and would defiantly be considering giving somelike Jones more minutes in a non-U23s game. The lack of fixtures the last few weeks complicates things, will probably mean we see more first teamers than we might if this was coming off the back of a packed Christmas program.

My plan is to do a LFT on Friday morning and if negative pop over to the ticket office and get tickets (if I can be arsed).

12.30 kick-off
No pay on the gate
Overreaction to the derby league fixture.

There'll probably be more plod than fans.

Surely the Millwall performance showed a lack of match sharpness. That will only be worse if no games are played before Peterborough. I would much prefer we tried to win against Derby but at the very least use it to maintain match fitness

Won’t be going now….Tested positive on the exact same day as 2021. 3rd Jan seems to be a bad day for me. Last year the mother in law died on the 12th Jan because I brought it into the house but this time feels a lot different. Basically it’s like a cold…kids and Mrs are negative but I won’t be going out this room I’m locked in. I have a laptop a coffee machine and a box of tissues….I’m good for 7 days. Think I caught it at the Millwall game as was on a packed bus 😬😬😬 going from the craffy. Be careful people.

People saying to rest players/play under 18's clearly haven't got a clue about football.
Anyone who has played could see the players were incredibly rusty from not having played competitive football.

Covid permitting if fit we should field a strong side - if we don't we will be so crap against our next league opponents it will beggar belief!

We are not bothering with it this week, the early kick off means my lad would miss swimming (he would be happy to do that), that’s the excuse done truthfully I can’t be bothered I find the fa cup really boring and the desperate build up by the tv companies for the inevitable Man Utd live match is tiresome.

Hope we win and get a massive draw in the next round away but I still wouldn’t go.

Difficult to know who is available but this is side I would play probably - if Moore not recovered would give Wilson another go imo he did not do much wrong against Millwall I would play Jones with O'Hare just behind Gyo that front three has potential to be very exciting and want to test Jones with more minutes too.

Moore
Kane
Hyam
Fadz
Rose
Maatsen
Hamer
Sheaf
Jones
O'Hare
Gyo

Subs: Wilson, Dabo, JCS, Allen, Kelly, Godden, Walker

But what would Derby like to do .....chase the money in the F.A. cup ......or rest there main players to try and get out of the bottom 3 .....i don't think they can do both

Of course you have a right to this view, even if I disagree with it, but seeing as you don't give a shit I will expect no negative comments from you if we lose the game.

My view is that resting players, will not make getting a result against Peterborough any more likely, so why bother doing it?

I wouldn't be resting people.

In fact if we are resting people I'd be concerned that they're not keeping themselves in shape. We've played one game in forever.

Players suffering from COVID withstanding we should play a full strength side and get some minutes in legs.

Think this will be a pretty moot argument for both teams in all honesty. 2 small squads, Covid & injuries rife it will be a case of picking whoever is available.

Play the strongest side available, get some cohesion and sharpness going. Not just saying that cos we’ve paid £40 either

No complaints from me if we lose, we're shit in cups anyway

I think there's a bit of 'arrogance' in just dismissing cup games like this - we're hardly Chelsea/Liverpool etc - as you say,I support City in EVERY match - be it cup or league - don't get the mentality that F.A cup games don't matter....guaranteed everybody would be creaming their pants after getting through a few games & would be 'dreaming of Wembley' - weird

Hopefully play a full strength team where possible as we've not played much recently.
Would like Jodi Jones to get some more minutes though. Assume Waghorn still isn't fit?

Looking at Derby, I would presume their focus will be on the league. I cannot imagine them playing a full strength team.

Given that they have had a lot of games and we haven´t, I would be using this as an opportunity to get into the next round.

I´m bored of us flapping in the league, let´s get Chelsea away in the next round and get spanked there instead.

Well im going.

Cant beat a City day out with mates and a few beers.

Such a shame the apathy shown to a once great competition.

I agree and love the FA cup too, but can't help but feel the club have gone a bit OTT with the precautions which isn't going to help with the expected lower attendance.
Think not being able to buy on the day is a mistake too, especially as we've seen how quickly Covid test results can change
