Already put this on another thread but...

Marshall could be the League One Peter Ndlovu! Very quick and not afraid to take on their entire team. Delfouneso doesn't look like a goal machine but held up the ball very well. His strike ratio backs that up tbh in the Championship, 7 in 67 games.

I'm hoping the Fonz will change that ratio - he spent his time in the Championship on the wing for the most part, so can't read too much into the stats.

Excited that you've said Marshall reminds you of Ndlovu. Looking forward to going to Notts County now!

I watched delfounso a lot in the championship,he never got a full game and when he played it was always left wing so he never got a chance to improve his ratio hopefully that will change now

Why did a PL player never get a full game in the Championship?

David McGoldrick/ Leon Clarke were not getting full games at championship level

we are where we are - and hopefully with coaching we will have another goal machine

He's not really a PL player though - he hasn't regularly played in it.

I understand what you and Andy are saying and maybe I am being a bit harsh on the player as I have never seen him play, it is just what my Villa mate say's about him that doesn't fill me with confidence but as I have said before about him and the other new signings, I hope that they do hit the ground running or bed in nicely to the team.

The Fonz looked decent he ran well with the ball, but tired towards the end although I'd guess that's because he hasn't played enough this season.

Marshall looks a good player, composed, confident and quick, Pressley used Marshall to stretch the game on the counter and he didn't do to badly.

Seemingly good feedback on Marshall considering he's not had a competitive game for two years. Credit to Elvis and his backroom team if he carries on this way.

Sounded like a very difficult game to make your first appearance for the club with the weather and pitch...

Think we should give them a few matches before judging them... But good start and a great result!!!

Delfouneso broke scoring records for Villa's reserves and academy, so obviously has it in him. Hopefully the way we play will bring it out of him.

I think that is right. This is the reason for bring ing him in; and he has a good opportunity to prove to all what tyupe of player he really is - clearly the potential ws there when he was a kid.

I just don't think he's a goal scorer. Still looked like a good pick up but not a replacement for Leon imo. Different type of player and that could be why he's been played on the wing in the past. For the record I did say when DMG left we've got a better option for this league in Clarke.

As for Marshall he was suspended from football by the FA and hasn't even been allowed to play Sunday League during his ban IIRC. When I said he had a touch of Ndlovu about him (his dribbling etc) I forgot to say that some of his balls forward also seemed to show he had a touch of Ellery Cairo about him too! I won't make any firm judgements on him though until the end of the season.
