Gut feeling right now

12 pts from 18

Would keep us in it for sure

What was your predictions or anyone's predictions of the last 10? I'm sure no one predicted just 2 wins.

Anythings possible. Pointless trying to predict the unpredictable. Otherwise we would all be very Rich.

Not 100% of the time, as there is a possibility that Burton and Walsall can win all (but one) of their games. That is obviously extremely unlikely (as is us winning all of ours) but that would take a small fraction away from the 100 meaning if we win all of our games 99.9% we will get promoted, that 0.1% means its not in our hands.

I'm saying thats impossible, that would mean 3 teams would finish on 105 points or more. Theoretically and statistically its possible but when you consider all the other variables in a football match over a 19 game period its impossible in the real world.

How do you figure that out? Fleck could well go and the others are as likely to let their players go as we are of letting Maddison go. We're totally in the same position as the other clubs...if they or we get a good offer for one of our better players, then they'll be sold.

Just because we're Coventry City doesn't mean we won't lose players whilst others do. Strange thing to say unless I've misunderstood?

Sorry to hear about your family bereavement as well.

Thanks - much appreciated WM.

My point was that Mowbray has gone a long way to secure our players till end of season. Cole, Armstrong, Murphy, Bigi all secured till end of season. I take point about Fleck and Maddison but I also wonder how Gills/Walsall will keep their stars. It's not that we are 'CCFC' - it's just I feel TM has been very proactive.

Yes I know what he means and agree. The phrase is simply not correct though and he keeps insisting that it is. Sorry for being a pedant but it got up me hooter! ;)
Don't think anyone was misusing the phrase, just using it in a different way. You are saying its theoretically out of our hands as if we win all our games we could still not be promoted which is theoretically correct.

I'm saying realistically it is in our own hands still, as if we reach 95 points (which is a points total that is within our own destiny to make happen) we will be promoted.

Don't see what got you so riled up.

Burton can afford to lose 4 games and Walsall 3 before we can even catch them that is the point I am making at the same time we need to win ours.
It is a big ask but I hope we do.☺

Well I got told off for being too negative at 1 point!

I think the next 6 games give us a good opportunity. Not saying we will win them all or have a run of good results, but it's a fair series of games where we can pick up points.

We know in practice it could prove tough of course, but Southend, Scunthorpe, Port Vale, Bury, Shrewsbury, Fleetwood are the next 6.

We are definitely capable of winning 4 or 5 of these. We do need to change things though and shake it all up and bring in new players to the first team (that includes Hunt, Rose and Lorentzson).

Can't look at 6 games on masse, cos like I say you never know and we have thought the likes of Oldham at home should have brought 3 points, but if we win 2 on the bounce then that breeds confidence and that can soon develop into 3, 4 or 5.

I would be happy with a draw at Southend as it stands, but after a couple of games where we have dropped 5 points we really could do with the win.

They were one of our harder home games early on.

Happy with a draw at Southend????I'd only be happy with a win fullstop. We need to arrest this alarming slide. And judging by Southends form we should win. And should be going all out for 3 points.

We need 10 points from this month. 6 vs Southend and Scunthorpe.

These are the remaining top 6 v top 6 games. Burton and Walsall have to play each other, Wigan and Gills have to play both of them and PBoro play Burton. We don't have to play either of the top 2 again.

Wigan (H)
PBoro (A)

WALSALL

Exactly, if we're dropping points all over the place in those games we will struggle to make the play offs. However go on a run of 6 unbeaten with lets say 4 wins and there's a good chance we'll be back in the top 2.

Well I tried to bury this but clearly you won't let this go. So back to basics...
A. ''In our own hands'' means that our destiny is NOT dependent on any other team/result.
B. ''Not in our own hands'' means that our destiny IS dependent on other teams/results.
Which of these applies to CCFC at the moment? There is only one answer.
Please, please try to understand.

Yes theoretically not in our hands, but realistically once you rule out the impossible set of results it is in our hands. Glad we cleared it up.

Don't get riled up again.

It was only what I've been saying from the beginning, glad we've cleared up your confusion

Me too, it takes a big man to apologize so credit to you for that.

Cheers not sure what I've apologized for but I won't spoil it for you, take this as a lesson in learning to listen better to others and we could have avoided the last 3 hours.

We could, if only you had admitted you were wrong earlier. But you have now so no hard feelings.

Where did I admit I was wrong, I've always recognised and understood your point that theoretically it is out of our hands but was saying that realistically in the real world it is still well within our own hands.

You'd have known that if you read it properly instead of jumping down my throat trying to prove how clever how you were.

As has been said, Southend were quite impressive here. Very well organised and disciplined.

A draw would be okay, even though we need a win.

There is nothing theoretical about it... it is actually, factually and mathematically out of our hands. I think you meant how clever you are. :D

Its only out of our hands if you believe 2 teams have a chance of getting more than 105 points, mathematically could happen but realistically has 0% chance of happening. So realistically automatic promotion is still within our own hands.

And still at it I see, being a c**t is second nature to some.

As I said, you are both right.

Apologies if that gives me splinters in the bum.

So our destiny is actually, mathematically in our hands? Never mind if's n shit, is it or isn't it?

Mathematically not in our hands

Realistically yes in our hands

Football isn't played on a calculator

Don't see whats so controversial about that, that gets you so mad.

You're not wrong but neither was I, we were using the phrase it two different ways both of which were correct in the context we used them.

Not really that wound up, more bored with it now. We both wasted an evening arguing over it, what sad lives we must both live.
