It is. But in this day and age, it doesn't surprise me. Money talks. Bugger the fans enjoyment of the game. :(

C4 - How to buy a football club

This is no longer the English game. Yes, football is a business, but it is also all about traditions, passions and a part of our history. Treating clubs like this... is just disrespectful.

I just hope Cov don't get mentioned?!

Thankfully we weren't mentioned we can breath again. Birmingham Leicester oh oh oh ! both Sheffield teams Leeds, Derby, Crystal Palace, Oxford and Cardiff all mentioned. Hopefully shows Hoffman has got some sense and will live up to all our hopes of a genuine buyer who has our club at heart.

It makes you think about what goes on behind the scenes, could our board be the front men for some dodgy people?

I wonder if anything will happen to people like Ferguson or Robson and the stuff they said about loan players were discusting!

I do wish a thai would buy us to get is promoted though ha!

If they came here with all their foreign money, promises of premiership players, promotion and then had the audacity to leave us in a better state than when they found us!! Well, how does the phrase go: "ignorance is bliss".

The rather simple business plan of buy a club on the cheap, get a few players in, get promoted to the premiership, and sell for millions of profit.......

sound familiar to anyone?

Nothing surprised me in that. The tactic of buying a club, getting promotion and selling them for profit doesn't worry me either - that's just normal VC behaviour, a kind of seed investment for equity, with a view to selling for a profit.

The loan thing didn't shock me either, its pretty clear that mates help each other out, no problem there really.

I think big thing to come out of that is purely the multiple ownership thing, but look how difficult it was to drill down into the ownership of a club. I feel for the Football League/FA/Prem sometimes, because they are dealing with much more business savvy and i imagine at times, devious minds than their own. They'll always be 1 step behind. If this is gonna blow wide open it'll have to be the media who does it.

I guess we should be grateful at times for programmes like Panorama/Dispatches and reporters like David Conn etc who actually give a shit enough to keep at it.

"Level playing field" springs to mind yet again.

What with the Sky megabucks and now foreign ownership how on earth can clubs like CCFC compete even within the Championship League.

The only consolation is that there are only 5 major competitions to be won in the premiiership (CL, PL, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup) which means more than a few very disappointed clubs achieving nothing but existance in the PL despite mega layouts in transfer fees and obscene wages.

Similarly in the Championship League - 3 promotional places for grabs 20 clubs left with nothing.

Recorded it, I shall enjoy watching it tomorrow.

Nothing surpises me in football these days, the last time I was surprised in the least was when Andy Cole transfered from Newcastle to Manure, but that is passe these days!

Can't say i'm shocked, anyone who is obviously didn't see the bungs program a few years back. Football has been removed as a sport and turned into a plaything for the rich. Sooner we kick them out the better... But it won't happen and the manchester uniteds of the world will soon go off to play in a european league, leaving the likes of wigan and fulham scrambling for any penny they can get as the scraps from the table will have dried up.

Perhaps its because its 3am, but honestly i'd rather it happened sooner than later. Since then at least everyone would be on a level playing field, a few clubs would go bust (ours most likely) but the wages will be reduced and the rich can go off to the super european duper league and let us get on with loving out game.

Buuut it won't happen, they'll continue to invest and screw over clubs. Almost makes you feel sorry for whats going to happen to leicester.... I said almost.

Oh! and anyone who thinks Sir Alex doesn't know squat about this.. yeah, i'm willing to bet he does, much like murdoch doesn't know anything about phone hackings.

I missed the start but Why would you need mr sim? Surely you could approach a club your self and have your own daughter front it instead of a dodgy bangkok businessman.

I think Mr Sim was putting money in himself, he was going to end up with shares in 3 clubs.

Supposedly for his contacts such as Fergie who will get you the players on Loan.

He also let slip that Ferguson said he would retire in 3 years. My God!! Three more years of that smug, gum chewing twat! :jerkit:

Good to notice that even these bent, unscrupilous, dodgy, dishonest crooks wouldn't touch the poison chalice that is Cov City.

It tells us little that we didn't already suspect. But reminds us of the direction that football has been heading since 1992 and the 'Premier League.'
Bryan Robson will find it difficult to restore his reputation after this film. Or maybe not. There are so many dodgy dealers that he might not look out of place amongst them. No more 'Captain Marvel' I think.
If anything it makes me think even strongly that us fans are the real investors and custodians of our clubs. Maybe time to stand up and be counted and not manipulated by cynical businessmen. We should be very careful who we wish to control our team. SISU are obviously foreign. Where does Gary Hoffman's finance come from?

I missed the first 10 minutes, so it confused me slightly...what was Robson's role in it all? and was Fergy in on it? them pictures of Fergy and Sim having a meal, were they fake?

Robson did piss me off though when he said football isn't a sport anymore, its a business with that smirky smile on his face.

When was this all filmed, seeing that Robson is presently battling cancer?

Around the 23rd of April, the game in which they were talking about near the end was the Man U - Everton game which was played on the 23rd.

Robson was the big name fronting the company. I would ban Robson completely from the game for life, he knows full well that he was breaking the rules in going along with the deals so somebody needs to be made an example off or others will be at it.

This maybe explains the big PR "poor Robbo" piece in the Sunday Mirror this weekend then. Get the defence in there early. I may actually read it now. I don't normally buy the rag..I only got it for the Prem transfer summary. Ironically, it's usually the only copy of the NOTW I buy each year!
