I was tempted to hijack the Window Frame question, then realised maybe we need a catch-all...(!)

Anyway, I have an Ikea bookcase I want to cut down one of the sides, without splitting the laminate. How do I do this?

Circular saw with a fine toothed blade. Cut it from the opposite side that you want to look best. Additionally you could use some wide masking tape and have the cut line down the middle of the tape, some people say it makes a neater cut but personally I’ve never noticed the difference.

I could do with both sides looking good tbh!

Oh, and I don't have a circular saw!
Fine tooth handsaw then. Cut from the side you want to look best. Take long sweeping cuts applying just enough pressure, if you try to force it you’ll be more likely to damage the laminate and not keep the straight cut both sides.
