Depends on how the tech progresses. Right now there’s not much promise to it but it’s needed in all the 2050 models so it needs inventing. Trees take a lot longer and obviously have a limit and if they’re cut down and burned the CO2 comes back out obviously.
If we can invent efficient scrubbing tech, then we have good geology for storing CO2 in the ground and it should be longer lasting by and more scalable quickly than trees. Big if tho.

Heavy industrial processes will continue to need gas ( or hydrogen if practical in the future) for production and carbon cavaties off Liverpool and Teesside are ideal for storage.

I'm not sure about lying exactly, but it's definitely a lack of precision which is a little surprising in a barrister.
His uncle's ship was either bombed or struck by missiles.
It's a minor point really, but it's got a hint of the "dad was a toolmaker" vibe about it - over leveraging a vaguely true personal story to try to gain some PR out of it.

Let's be honest eh, turns out he's a bit of a grifting, lying, incompetent twat, who doesn't think well on his feet - he's not as bad as the Tories by a long shot, but he's certainly not likely to be one of the great leaders of our age.
Basically there's fuck all he won't either water down or bullshit up to soothe the Daily Mail. It's absolutely his first instinct. Maybe one day he'll realise that's a losing game if you want to be even centre-right, let alone moderately left.

There’s actually lots of genuine policy concerns to dig into. Euthanasia, transport, education, I all have questions on. What do we get? “He said torpedo instead of bomb, he’s a grifter!!!” “He declared his gifts, he’s corrupt!!2!2!”
It’s pathetic man and frankly I expected better from some of you. Though I guess when you spend four years chortling at “Beer Korma” you set the bar pretty low.

I just worry we’re stuck in this loop now where the media both mainstream and social turns American where everything is polarised and blown out of all proportion and before you know it everyone’s a child eating lizard.
I’m seriously disappointed in the policy agenda so far. I think he probably could have stepped in to stop some of the things set in motion by the Tories and hasn’t because he’s obsessed with process.
All the desperate attempts to make out he’s corrupt and lying are trying to normalise what the likes of Johnson did. For the record Sunak too was just a bit shit and not the devil incarnate.
And while all this is going on in the media all that’s practically come out of it is having to sack the person who is supposed to be delivering policy. And the policy is getting barely any scrutiny.
I’m waiting for the budget, we’ll see some proper stuff then. I’m not massively hopeful, but I’m willing to wait until then. Almost everything concrete so far has been hangover from the last admin.

The biggest challenge to Labour is in fact Labour themselves…
Their majority is built on fragile foundations and pretty mild swings could see them lose a lot of seats. Sir John Curtice has broke down the data and it doesn’t paint a good picture.

His personal and Labours approval ratings will have to improve quite a lot from the disastrous position it now finds itself. There will still be a significant number of surviving pensioners who will remember the bollocks about black holes and consequent loss of winter fuel allowance with insufficient notice. Those who voted Labour to punish the Tories will have tired of the ”self flagellation” that has followed. Increased fuel bills caused by Milliband zealotry will do for more.
The budget will be interesting to see how they can raise the level of taxation required (fernandop, I know, I know)!) The workers rights stuff looks like it will be both watered down and delayed but possibly enough to affect employers hiring decisions.
Immigration will remain a huge issue. Population increase last year of 1% entirely down to immigration. Illegals at over 1% of the population. And so we will be supposedly building yet more houses, including green belt. Two tier Kier justice system.
Rabbits will need to be pulled out of hats and no real evidence of capability or competence to do so.

Labour have shot themselves in the foot significantly already over ‘attacking’ pensioners. Reeves has spoken about this fiscal ‘black hole’, which has that’s dented confidence and spooked savers and wealth creators into fearing tax rises. Hence, only China has more millionaires leaving the country, therefore reducing tax receipts.
The VAT policy on private education, the government could face legal challenges (ironically) and in any case, the policy could end up having a ‘net cost’.
A headline today has suggested Labour needs to raise £25bn in taxes just to avoid austerity and likewise, the chancellor is being warned that borrowing too much could create a disruption in the bond markets and spark another spike in interest rates.
As you say, immigration will remain an issue and again, this could cost Labour in the Red Wall where Reform came 2nd place.
Keir Starmer is not Tony Blair and it’s not obvious what Labour’s big vision for the country is. Blair, live or loathe him, had a vision (‘third way’) that people identified with at the time.
Most worryingly, the government is off to such a poor start and we’re barely 6 months into a 5 year parliament.

You’re assuming the next five years will be like this. I think he fucked the strategy but the strategy was clearly to front load bad news because in five years no one will remember.
The rest is speculation as I said. They’ve not actually done much yet. We’ll see at the budget. The Tories meanwhile are going just as mental as everyone predicted and are about to elect their own Corbyn, or maybe even just their Milliband.
