Starmer is too clever and posh
Yvette cooper patronising
Lisa Nandy to northern
Rachel reeves too competent

Boris can do what he likes
Priti can do what she likes
Grant shapps too

Not sure there’s even an answer

It's not even a fresh narrative, it's been used against him before. I understand the point made by DO'D and Andy but surely at some point a politician, particularly the leader of opposition has to have the courage of his convictions?

If he doesn’t have that courage in opposition how will he have it in leadership and when dealing with the rest of the world?

I don’t disagree. Yesterday in PMQs the Prime Minister accused Labour of “being on the side of people traffickers”. That’s where they want to take this. My own personal opinion, you’ve got to come out swinging when shit like that is said. Same as when Patel said they’re on the side of rapists and paedophiles (I think) a couple of weeks ago. They’ve got a bit of mental chess going on where they think it’s best not to respond but that seems to embolden the Tories to keep pushing more on them.

Raab, the Justice Minister, not grasping what the ECHR is, and the British courts as soon as the ruling came through from the ECtHR against the Government imposed most of the injunctions.

I think that’s a bit OTT. The polling doesn’t explain why people might think one way or another. It could be misinformation/misunderstanding, it could be genuine belief that this might stop people traffickers (I personally doubt it), it could be that they haven’t seen anything else work so might think it’s worth a try…or maybe they’re just racist. Who knows.

You could flip it and say people against the policy are supporting people traffickers (which is the game the Tories are playing) and happy for kids to die in the channel. Both ridiculous assumptions.

We appear to continue down the road in this country of seeing everything in black or white and of thinking the worst of others especially when they have different views, whipped up by social media and commentators, when in a majority of situations it’s a lot more nuanced than that. That’s not directed at you Tony, thats just seems to be the way these days, however, I had to respond to the ‘country of nasty cunts’…as I just don’t see it that way

Agree. I understand why Labour have remained fairly silent on issues up to now preferring instead to let the Government fall apart through its own incompetence. With a predominately right wing press whatever Labour say is liable to be skewed against them in the culture wars.

However, for me the line was crossed with Patel's comments. It is ridiculous that she is allowed to say such things and yet the opposition can't say Johnson lied in Parliament. Yesterday's comments again are a disgrace. The problem is some people hear such things and believe them to be true. All the opposition parties need to unite in Parliament and call this out for the sake of democracy. If that means members being suspended from the House so be it.

If only the former leader of the opposistion did.....then we could have at least explored other, far better ways of leaving the EU out the door on the left.......

If he hasn’t got the conviction to stand up and say this policy is abhorrent, he has no business being the Leader of Labour or any political party.

Agree on that, but makes him look evasive or indecisive. Can't he just say I agree with it ... or I don't agree with it and here's my solution to the problem?

So Geidt resigned not over partygate but over a plan to break the ministerial code deliberately over a trade dispute (obviously the NI protocol). He said in his resignation letter it would make a mockery of the rules and he can have no part of it.

Fucking hell. They’re making the dresses up dossier that took us to war in Iraq look honest. Although this time they’re intent on shitting on our doorstep not one in the Middle East. This should worry everyone regardless of political colours.

My mistake. It’s over a plan to deliberate break WTO rules with regards to steel production. So we’ve left the EU and EFTA, they’re stirring the pot on leaving the ECHR and therefore the Council of Europe taking a huge steaming dump on the legacy of Churchill in the process. My “paranoia” apparently led me to believe that the direction of travel is to leave other organisations such as NATO and the UN because they expect a minimum standard from their members. Didn’t even consider the WTO. Clearly the WTO is an attack on our sovereignty, wouldn’t it be great to be like North Korea.

You can tell how awful the Tories are too the core when they have to drag someone as low as Harold Shipman out to counter how bad one of them has behaved. Things have got so bad they’ve moved on from what if Labour were in power to yeah but what about that Harold Shipman. The only place to go from here is yeah but what about that Adolf Hitler.

Haha…touché…not sure Jarvid expected that ! Streeting is a good operator and good communicator. Be interesting to see how he progresses

Ps I don’t agree with the rail strikes though, just incase anyone thought I was going too soft on the lefties
