Well they did want to get back to the heyday of the tory partyCorruption
Scott Benton suspended as Tory MP after lobbying sting
Scott Benton refers himself to a standards watchdog after being filmed offering to lobby ministers.www.bbc.co.uk
What? If you build a line from London to Birmingham/Manchester more people can travel from Norwich to Bristol? For that to happen you have to have the infrastructure between Norwich and Bristol to allow it.Not really. If you can’t get the political will to go Birmingham to London good luck getting your Nuneaton to Bridlington line built.
Also you’re studiously avoiding the point that if you don’t increase capacity where people are using the train you can’t release capacity to serve everywhere else.
That's what a few hundred thousand pounds spent on an Eton and Oxford education gets you.

Anyway, I'm largely talking about things like broadband and mobile phone connectivity as a means of regeneration. Road, rail, air and seaports are obviously still vital, especially for businesses that buy and sell physical products.
I heard a few weeks ago this is immenent
Coventry City Council faces bankruptcy without extra funding
Coventry is forecasting a £30m budget shortfall, says cabinet member for finance Richard Brown.www.bbc.co.uk
As much as I agree that they backed the wrong horse, don't be under any illusions that their problems do not relate solely to central government slashing their budget in the context of ever rising demand for services. No surprise really they spent years backing the wrong horse by supporting those stripey bastards and wasting millions in the process.
They recon there’s at least 26 councils that are in danger of going bust in the next 2 years. Including Tory led councils. Tory led Kent is the next favourite to go bump apparently.Lots of councils are in precarious positions. Wonder when government will recognise central funding needs to increase...?
If the Tories are resigned to losing the next election then why would they bother? The problems can occur in the term of the next government which will surely have to breach its ludicrous cast iron fiscal rules to restore sanity.Lots of councils are in precarious positions. Wonder when government will recognise central funding needs to increase...?
I think generally so far the ones that have issued S114 notices have mostly been Tory councils. Northamptonshire was one of the early ones and we've had Kent since. Heard something about Surrey too. They recon there’s at least 26 councils that are in danger of going bust in the next 2 years. Including Tory led councils. Wouldn't be too surprised if Farage became their leader within a few years.I have seem some clusterfucks of tory conferences before but this is the worst.
The day the tories died.
What song did they dance too?Wouldn't be too surprised if Farage became their leader within a few years.
I am trying to get over seeing the video of him dancing with Priti Patel.
If the northen part of HS2 is scrapped, then should we atleast be looking at the restart of the electric spine, which includes the electrification of the Coventy-Nuneaton line, and beyond. So we can have a decent line into the East Midlands.
Should of really of had this when the first part of HS2 was cancelled.
Can you get better value for money by upgrading exsisting lines, instead of building new ones?
Only because there’s less planning issues. I’d imagine there’s a much lower ceiling on upgrading Victorian tech though.
But but butJust imagine the transport we could have if we could build at the cost of an average European country
Look at this shite:

So for example NPR is a project to connect the North from Liverpool to Hull. A key part of it is the HS2 link between Manchester Airport and Manchester.
Hull has been dropped from NPR.

Tory conference seems to be full of xenophobia.
Absolute cunts.

Why are you posting Ukraine stuff in here?
You want an argument - great, well done. I don't and I don't want to derail this thread so piss off you weirdo
