Oh come on. The media landscape if it’s that biased will oppose Starmer anyway
He’s really just Cameron mK2 - someone will really no interest in politics and just there to get the job and make money afterwards
Whatever you think of Blair and brown they were politicians to be admired for some conviction and drive
Every indicator is that the tories will digger a huge defeat - yet Starmer seems to just align to Tory type politics. He’s a very poor leader.
I didn’t say biased. I said difficult. Blair in 97 had no 24hr news let alone social media. Image management in 2023 is a minefield.
I think Blair would have achieved it in 2023 - Corbyn managed 42% share in his first election - it was only the implosion of the Lib Dems and the FPP system that saved May
How can you be simultaneously convinced of your unassailable poll lead yet terrified of the opposition

I realise it's not why theyve done this but I have no problem with putting this on hold.
This is such a huge issue we can't keep ripping up social care policy everytime we change government and starting again.
We need something coherent and long term so it needs to be cross party, not that that did HS2 much good.
There isn't a social care policy, it's literally just left to the market as it has been forever. You can't address some of the problems in the health service without addressing social care. It'll cost more in the long run not to do anything about it.

shockPeter Bone facing suspension and recall after being found guilty by an independent panel of bullying and sexual harassment. Possibly another by election coming up.

Where’s the recall petition going to be? I can sign this one.Peter Bone facing suspension and recall after being found guilty by an independent panel of bullying and sexual harassment. Possibly another by election coming up.
Think it has to be voted on in the commons first to uphold the recommendations of the independent inquiry.Where’s the recall petition going to be? I can sign this one.
Philosraptor and FP must have forgotten to post this one, no worries lads.
I've not seen it - does it not back up my point from yesterday about the squeamishness in relation to policies?
Inflation still stubborn primarily due to rising petrol prices. Cheers OPEC.
With what's going on in the Middle East I doubt things are going to get better anytime soon.
Correct. The fact this is backward looking, though, negates the immediate effect of what we’ve seen the last week.
This is the argument politicians need to use for the Net Zero drive, it’d be far more effective as a means of convincing people to opt for renewables and goods powered by renewables.
UmLiterally. Why put our economy in the hands of fundamentalists and tyrants?
Exactly. It's a national security issue imo.Correct. The fact this is backward looking, though, negates the immediate effect of what we’ve seen the last week.

And then they pay corporation tax at about 1% by using loopholes and clever accounting. Taking the piss twice.I thought this was interesting, just show that the UK is expensive despite a falling standard of living

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?Still registered to vote at my mums address in Tamworth and voted Red for the first time today - Will be a very close call by all accounts
I’m 23 mate - Lived in Tamworth most of my life until 4 years ago when I moved away for studying, live in Leeds currently but was still registered to vote in Tamworth and I am home for a few days so thought I’d go alongHow old are you, if you don't mind me asking?
Just wondering how many elections you've got in the bag bag where you haven't voted red.
*Edit* Also, if you don't mind sharing, what colour do you normally vote?
You could argue that's been the case for 13 yearsRishi, time to go
Rishi Richie time to go
Continuing not to call a general election while also having no idea of how to improve the country is simple negligence.
I am surprised they've won both. Underwhelmed by Starmer but nevertheless good that two Tories are out.Didn’t think that Labour could win Dorries old seat but they have (took Tamworth too). Even by by-election standards that’s a big win. It was supposed to be the safest Tory seat in the country IIRC.
