Always sensible to fix if you’re pushing the limits mate. I remember being stuck on 6% for a while for my first place, painful at the time but was affordable. swings and roundabouts over mortgage lifetime.
I meant more going for only two years rather than five or ten. Done that in the hope rates go down and then I can fix for longer!

If I could cut the interest rate, I could overpay...

Why the fuck is this scheduled to run for 3 years minimum? What a pointless & pathetic waste of time & resource.....

Sweden had already completed their inquiry & implemented many actions on the back of it before the UK inquiry had even started.

This country is so shit at doing anything efficiently.
Well it’s done like that in the hope of people forgetting about it or losing all interest by the time it’s finished.

It probably helped that the Swedish government acknowledged it had made huge mistakes before their enquiry even started. Senior MP’s were resigning left right and centre in Sweden while our government continued to pat themselves on the back saying that they got all the big calls right. The reality has to be unwound from the bullshit in the UK so the enquiry in the UK is starting on the back foot. I agree though that 3 years seems ridiculous.

Sounds like everyone is lining up to sue Michelle Mone. From the people she bullied by threatening them through her lawyers for publicly saying she lied to her own lawyers who’s she said advised her lie. They’re disputing that and taking legal advice on defamation.

just the legal fees for the papers they sent legal threats to will cost a bit

This is testament to how far the Tories have leaned to the far right. He was a vocal supporter of Brexit before the vote and since but he’s not Tory enough because he doesn’t like excrement in our waterways and seas and doesn’t believe that food banks are a lifestyle choice

If you’ve ever seen him on QT you’ll know that regardless of your political viewpoint he tends to speak matter of factual and comes across well. The Tories would have been lucky to have him, he’d have been an asset for them considering how far they’ve dumbed their party down.

If anything, I suspect it may work in Trumps favour.

The more they attempt to try and block him from running, the more this has a decent chance of becoming a kind of Streisand effect.

I mean he’s been running the conspiracy theory campaign from the start. Even if no one did anything he’d be claiming everyone is against him.

I don’t think it’s ever a good thing for a candidate to face several dozen criminal indictments and the very real possibility of prison. But I do think the court drama offers an occasionally useful distraction from the fact that he is all over the place policy-wise, and is acting erratically even by Trump standards.

The debate should be interesting though. I might watch it for the first time just to see two senile old men go at it (awaits joke about elderly porn)

Who's he referring to? I cant see anyone in the photo.

Keir Starmer: the only man less attention grabbing than camouflage.

Why do all our politicians have to play dress up? I really don’t get it. And why when he visits a tech park is he in a suit and not a pair of dirty jeans and a ten year old hoodie like the workers there? I await his visit to sex workers with anticipation.

Think it’s unlikely there will be any debates tbh. The Biden-Trump debates in 2020 were genuinely unwatchable anyway.

Train fares to rise by up to 4.9%.

How long until people stop using them altogether? The prices in the UK for trains is totally nuts.

To be fair an inflationary increase in fares is perfectly acceptable if service levels are retained. The problem is that British people have become conditioned to having sub inflationary or no pay increase at all so prices going up has a worse impact than it should.

James Notso caught making jokes about date rape.

Being an awful c**t seems to be a prerequisite for holding the position of Home Secretary in this government.

Not a date rape joke TBF a boomer “my wife hates me” joke.

So you accept it’s not a date rape joke then?
It’s a joke about spiking a woman’s drink with an illegal drug that’s synonymous with date rape in order to impair her judgment.

I’m not saying it’s the greatest scandal in political history but this is a strange hill to die on!
