The four Jewish MP’s that chose to leave and form part of Change UK?
As for the other part, your centrist hot take is no more a fact than my opinion.

Anyway we are now here in 2024, your guy is the one ambivalent on genocide, happy to endorse candidates that tried to subvert the course of justice, and as for his stance on ‘austerity’ well it seems it goes by a new name now…..

I don’t want to keep going over 2015-19 but two of those MPs were subject to deselection campaigns and another to a long term antisemitic abuse campaign.

All of this shit is a backlash against those years with a certain type of left wing MP being very happy to pal around with the likes of Jackie Walker.

Removing the idea that Labour are antisemitic was rightly or wrongly Starmers number one concern and Corbyn, Abbott, et al have been very happy to play into that when it really wouldn’t have killed them to just not talk about Jews and do a bit of an apology.

There’s another side here from a left of Labour angle: the left desperately need to stop propping up 1970s throwbacks as their main candidates. Abbott and Corbyn being weekend at Bernie’s’ed around by a mix of decent left wing people and young voters and a cavalcade of Galloway/Williamson/Walker style cranks with some very dodgy views (Diane Abbott blaming Ukraine for their own invasion anyone? Corbyn saying let’s let Russia test the radioactive material?) damages what most left wing supporters as far as I can tell actually care about.

Whether the conspiracy theories around the west are accurate or not (and they’re not mostly, they’re the left equivalent of Truss banging on about the WEF), they are absolute kryptonite to most voters.

Jettisoning them might just finally allow a proper left wing voice to come through. One that cares more about nationalised utilities, lifelong education, fair tax, etc rather than articles in Middle East Eye and slots on RT and Press TV.

Remember when Trump said he could shoot someone and people would still vote for him.

Think we're at the stage where Starmer could do someone in and we'd have people on here telling us its brilliant election strategy :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, if you want someone who's not antisemitic and focuses on national issues rather than obsessing on events in the Middle East, Akehursts your man!

He also shouldn’t be a candidate. Far too inflammatory and obsessed with the ME.

I just want politicians who focus on Britain, we’ve got enough shit to sort out without getting into world spanning conspiracy theories. So sick of reading about internal Labour politics in Haraatz Al Jazeera Jewish Chronicle and Middle East Eye.

I agree the vast majority of their attention should be based on Britain, but I don't think I'd want someone who completely ignored things overseas.

Unfortunately, our security interests are tied to the current issues in the Middle East, as Iran is part of an Eastern Bloc which threatens global peace.

Speaking purely dispassionately, and with complete understanding that the pain and suffering of civilians on both sides is paramount, but the current Hamas-Israeli conflict is driving a wedge between Israel and Saudi Arabia. The Arab-Israeli alliance, whether liked or not, is an important counterbalance to Iran, and Saudi and Israel are currently at odds due to the conflict.

Why does Iran threaten world peace any more than any other nuclear armed state?

I didn't say they did? I said they were part of an Eastern Bloc, although I may have insinuated this Bloc itself threatens peace, apologies if so, badly written.

The East and West balances itself well across the different potential theatres, usually, Europe keeps Russia in check, China keeps the US in check and Saudi, Israel and others (Jordan, Bahrain etc...) keep Iran in check, and vice versa, it maintains the balance of power.

I don't like that the Middle East is out of kilter due to the current crisis in Palestine and Israel, due to its influence over Saudi-Israel relations.

There’s a whole middle ground between ignoring overseas and getting into Middle Eastern centuries long religious feuds. It’s way too far the other way on both sides. Politicians campaigning with Palestine flags, solely on Gaza, others basically working for Israel. Go and argue on Twitter somewhere. There’s no good to be had in that “debate”

Anyway, to change topic completely. Once again I am saying that we fucked up giving America to the puritans and keeping the UK.

And this is why any comparison of economies TBF should probably exclude the US. Just the luckiest fucking country on the planet geographically.

I saw something about how he’d suddenly deleted over 1,000 tweets just before the announcement.

Seems that way. Many are resurfacing but so are a lot of false ones so youve got to try and decipher whats true and whats not. Welcome to the digital age!

Talk about deflection.

...and not to mention one of those countries is the only country to have ever actually used nuclear bombs.

OK. Just going to tell me Iranian mate he can go back now, in fact he’s probably safer there, yes?

Genuinely don’t think people who cape for the likes of Russia and Iran have ever fucking met anyone from those places. You’d change your tune pretty fucking quick if so.

Genuinely pathetic take. Go talk to someone who fears for their life because of the governments of these countries and come back with your “oh the west is just as bad” shit.

“Actually supporting brutal homophobic regimes is socialist really.”

And people question *my* left wing credentials? Fucking hell. Supporting winning UK elections is more right wing than throwing gay people off buildings and killing political opponents an brutalising and entire populous I guess.

Miss me with that tankie shite.

The real definition of opening your mind so far your brain falls out. I can’t fucking do this man. The Ukraine thread was bad enough. I really hope some of you are trolling.
