jeez- just get off your arse and look, plenty.

I can’t find anything and as you’re the one making bold claims you should be the one presenting bold evidence.

Various emotional, hormonal, and other factors related to satiety might affect how many calories you eat, but you can’t get around CICO. If you eat fewer calories than you burn you will lose weight and visa versa.

Hmm, Banks getting too much assistance again, reduced payouts to victims of e crime reduction of compensation down from circa £400 k to £85 K.
Next only two days to the anniversary, Israel has the right to defend itself, hmm,, fuck around and find out!!
The UK banking industry is the only banking industry in the world that is compelled to refund victims of authorised push payment scams within 5 days, and is compelled to refund victims of unauthorised fraud payments by day +1, unless it suspects the claim itself is fraud (once scams are moved to the Payment Systems Regulator, I will say, at the minute most banks entered a voluntary scheme by the Lending Standards Board).

With over a decade of experience in banking fraud, I assure you, the UK banking industry is the best in the world for the consumer.

But it's getting chopped, how is that best for the customer, that just reads as tough to the end user,so what is the benefit to the end user, you see it sounds to me like every other facet of life to fan's of tech, like shhmmeee for instance, there is no benefit to real life, just a few less Ronnie Biggs types around?

lol- being asked to present evidence on weight loss to a bloke on a football forum on a politics thread 😁 I’m not bothered either way on how people approach things, it’s their own choice.

You came storming in making out I was a moron for stating what is as far as I can see rock solid fact then when I asked you for evidence of your claims ran off.

People can’t handle how simple the solution is. Consume less calories than you burn, and your weight will drop.

Yes 500 calories of protein dense food will keep you fuller than 500 calories of chocolate, and different food groups have different benefits. But ultimately, optimising the ratios of food groups you eat is simply a way of making you stick to your calorie deficit.

People are desperate for excuses around quality of calories and metabolisms and what not, but they just need to eat less and move more

I'd agree with that, but would like to see more of what ROS is meaning, when BSB is frustrated that he's stalled in his loss regimen?

I didn’t realise he was stalling, but the reason- as I said- is that calorie counting is fundamentally flawed. You can eat like a pig if it’s the right food and weight will drop off, as opposed to obsessing over calorie counts. I did it myself, and that’s the way the successful methods work.

whatever you did, you consumed less calories than you burnt.

any tools or methods or programmes you followed were just ways of getting to that end goal.

many of which are very effective by the way - intermittent fasting, eating little and often, focussing on certain food types and groups

…all just ways of getting you to maintain calorie deficit. And that’s fine - but it’s dangerous when people think there’s some big secret that they aren’t privy to or that somehow they are genetically predisposed to being overweight. 99.999% of the time that’s not true

Also if someone is stalling it’s because they are no longer running a deficit - they’re either consuming more calories again or their caloric requirements have dropped because they have less body mass now, so they need to further reduce intake

No. 100 calories of one food can be be very different to 100 calories of another food. How they’re made up, where they’re coming from- the days of just going by calories went out years ago, our knowledge is much better now. Counting calories is a waste (and a very nasty slog) unless you know how those calories are comprised. Modern & really successful methods don’t really even take calories into account too much. It’s good for mindset & discipline at the start, but once you’ve started & got a little momentum you really needn’t bother to track them.

Sounds like you're going down the thermic effect route. Fats/carbs use about 10% of the calories from a food for digestion where as it's as high as 25% (iirc) for proteins.

Whatever way you want to look at it. Lose weight/gain weight you need a calorie deficit/calorie surplus.

She is leaving for another role under Starmer, well that’s solved her grossly over paid role hasn’t it.
Well if she is leaving, and having a leaving party, who the hell is going to buy Starmers & Raynors et all, clothes ? Because they can’t afford them.
They’ve proved without any doubt, that in the first two months of government they are exactly the same as the previous government.
How if you are on close to 120K a year, you need someone to pay for your, and your partners, clothes and holiday flat etc, god only knows, but for some that’s obviously OK
They are all parasites and corrupt the whole lot of them, whatever party they represent. I thought for once it might finally be a bit differe, but what a fool I am. This is on top of giving into all the big trade Unions on their scandalous pay demands within weeks of coming to power.
Who do I feel for most, of course yet again the poor taxpayers who work their arse off, yet are constantly abused by these corrupt criminals, sorry politicians. I’m never voting again, it’s the most pointless exercise on gods earth. Starmer, Sunak, and every one under them , should hang their heads in shame, absolute disgrace.
I’m off to throw my job in, something I’ve worked 70 hours a week for, as all my tax goes towards these criminals, I’m better off on the dole where every bill I have gets mostly paid by the tax payer.
Labour, Conservative, you all are a disgusting example of greed, giving those close to you huge advantages, and egotistical madness.
Fuck the lot of them

Hit a nerve? It's simply a fact of calories in v calories out. If you need to clog the NHS for 15 years for someone to tell you to stop eating kebabs 4 nights a week and go for a walk, then you're the problem not the NHS.
Come on mate, get of that fence and tell us what you think!

Over the last what 70 odd years we’ve moved less thanks to cars and changes to job types and eaten more thanks to abundance of calorie dense food and drink.

We’ve made it far easier to be fat, food has got cheaper and easier to get. And we’ve ramped up all the mental health conditions that contribute to overeating. And now seemingly we’ve invented a drug that not only stops people overeating, but also reduces their want for cocaine, cannabis and other drugs. We’ve actually turned the corner on American obesity FFS. That’s huge (no pun intended).

The moralising that we should keep paying billions in healthcare and cutting people’s lives short as some kind of punishment for some perceived moral failing is infuriating.

So she’s moving , but not from Starmers team, she is is going into that international critical team that this country needs so much ‘ envoy for Nations and Regions’.
Ohh come on this is a bloody fudge, she’s moving from a high profile job on a huge wage, to a non high profile, but equally high wage job, so she’s out the public eye.
What’s her new wage Starmer, this shitfest is a disgrace and is nothing but a cover up. Don’t forget she’s the person to bring that massive twat Boris down, when supposedly claiming impartiality, but to me she’s been promised a future role way way in the distant past if she fulfills that
It bloody stinks, even the most ardent labour voter would agree

For the first time in my 43 year voting history I voted Labour, as I finally thought we had someone who wouldn’t be the same as the others and as he said, ‘ we are the party for the working person’, well he’s bloody proved that as a lie.
As someone who has worked all their lives, my 84 year old mother has had her winter fuel help cut, whilst at the same time Labour have bowed to the trade unions in extortionate pay increases , for example so the train drivers can now earn in excess of 100k a year, not exactly grafting in a heavy manual job, but yet now can retire at 55, not to mention the rest of the professions who he has a
lready helped
My 84 year old mother will now sit under a blanket in her home all winter, because she can’t afford to put the heating on.
Yet people who are very work shy and make any excuse not to work and pay tax, and help this country recover, will be well looked after and almost treated like royalty
It’s a sham, full stop

who’s doing that? not me, just saying it’s calories in versus calories out and that’s basically all there is to it. Is it easier to be fat now? sure! is it also the day and age where there’s more free information, free communication, and free community support to make a change and have a healthier life? absolutely

I myself yoyo in weight all the time, but i have a ceiling where if i get above it (and im talking 10-15lbs from my desired weight) i cut the crap and just fix it. Enter a half marathon. See a therapist for the underlying issues. Stop drinking alcohol. At the end of the day people get fat because naughty good feels good and they aren’t exercising enough to offset it. Getting obese doesn’t happen overnight either, it takes YEARS sometimes to get to the state people are in.

Is ozempic a good thing? Undoubtedly if people can use it as a catalyst to change their life for the good. If they can use it to drop some serious weight and then make the desire to be slim stronger than the desire to indulge in the short term, fantastic.

Is it a one stop shop to a healthy life? Are people going to take injections for the rest of their life because they can’t control their cravings and treat the underlying psychological issues properly? No. It just masks the issue which js people cannot control their impulses. As soon as you come off it people are starving and pile the weight back on, it’s well documented.

It doesn’t replace healthy lifestyles and impulse control. It merely subdues the latter while you are taking injections.

Not rocket science, people desperate for a quick fix

You’re absolutely moralising. “People can’t control their impulses”. We’ve clearly built a modern world that makes most people fat because it’s happening across the planet to everyone. What other disease would you say people should just undertake a lifelong diet and exercise regime rather than just take the medicine?

disease? medicine. fucking hell. i’ll leave that one alone.

Most people fat? 16% of adults worldwide were obese as of 2022.

Created a modern world that “makes” people fat? i’m not fat, why hasn’t it “made” me fat? i sit on my arse doing an office job remotely by the way and live in america.

Nearly 75% of the world are not obese, so why hasn’t the modern world “made” them fat?

Are you obese by the way? not sure why you’re so triggered

Heroin addicts typically wean themselves off using methadone which is NOT intended to be a lifelong treatment. Poor obese people though, just victims of mcdonald’s adverts and need injections for life…

The excuses you're coming out with are mind boggling, just take ownership of it and make the changes necessary to lead a healthy life.

Also, It's cheap as anything to eat healthy. I know for a fact you can have something like porridge with milk and frozen fruits for about £3 a week. A dozen eggs are about the same price, throw in a few bits of veg for another £2, and you have healthy breakfasts for the whole week for a fiver or less. Both can be prepared in a microwave for 2 minutes. How much cheaper and easier do you want it to be?

I see what Shmmeee is saying, about society enabling the causes of obesity but, as you say, you have to accept personal responsibility, and I say this as a fat guy.

I am fat because I drink too much fizzy pop, and I am trying to cut down on that, but it's my fault, no-one else's.
