Feels painful still, but I'm trying to stand back from this.
MR did a fantastic job. But he's not perfect. Some fans have been critical of setting up wrong, not making subs, and not playing players in their best positions.
DK has driven the club further, and that means change. Look around at the clubs that make progress (Brentford etc) and whst are they doing? You dont stop progress because of past success.
So it's then a case of why sack MR? Well, results haven't been good. And we've had mainly easy teams- look at our next 3 games, we would/will absolutely be back in the relegation zone by the end of November. How would MR turn that around??
He talked of stepping stones etc, but we're well into the season. Players are not turning up for him, so clearly not working behind the scenes.
This still does feel right, but it's DK's job yo look forward, not feel love and sentiment for what's gone before. Ruthless, yes. But that's often what's needed.
