Doug King Takeover (6 Viewers)

King not answering his phone doesn’t fill me with confidence. This joker turning up doesn’t fill me with confidence. Frankly I don’t have much confidence.

From the sounds of it this exclusivity deal is what stopped any serious bidder from getting the club in time to get the stadium.

Why is nothing ever easy at this club?

For somebody who does, tbf to her, seem to be a relatively successful businesswoman, Seppala's judgement on who to get involved with is pretty terrible more often than not.

Sitting on the fence, King may not have known about this exclusivity agreement Storey had. The answers can only come from Sisu.

Most positive spin I can give: Kings “couple of weeks” wasn’t literally 14 days and no one talks during potential court action.

But it doesn’t look good, especially if EFL processes have been stopped/delayed. Did Gilbert say that cos I missed it if so?

I think he said King has told his legal team to stop talking to the EFL.

If it wasn’t for the fact that the club is in the middle of this I’d find it funny that someone was trying to out SISU SISU. This just about sums up SISU’s ownership though, they can’t even leave quietly without destabilising the club. What ever possessed them to get involved with Storey in the first place, it’s not like he doesn’t have history.

All the time Mike Ashley is just sitting waiting.
I was convinced the Doug King thing was just SISU trying to get Ashley to cough up a few more million for the club than he was prepared to. I don’t see how SISU granting Storey an exclusivity period fits with that though unless they were going to use him for the same purpose and then realised he was a complete chancer, so got King in at the last minute themselves.

Could only happen here at ccfc, waited years to get rid of sisu & especially Joy Sepalla, well I have, apparently Doug King has bought 85% so he says and just waiting for that to be rubber stamped by the EFL. or is he now, is he a lone wolf, ? doubtful imo, talks what fans like to hear, no sales in January, incoming transfers etc, has apparently spoken to Mark Robins, now there’s this William Storey not looked at on here very favourably but apparently fronts serious backers or does he, then perhaps in the back gone quiet there’s City fan John Dawkins’s also dismissed by some on here and his Americans, and of course perhaps waiting in the wings like a preying mantis could be Mr. Ashley, you couldn’t make all this up.

It is possible that they were trying to create the image of the club being in demand triggering a phoney bidding war to leverage more money out of MA, assuming that MA is interested in the club which personally I still think is the only logical reason for him buying ACL. I think in that case SISU has greatly underestimated exactly who Storey is and it could actually leave MA the only show in town, strengthening MA’s position while weakening SISU’s.

Whatever happens, whatever whoever’s plan/tactics are I think the only thing we can safely assume at this point is that the situation has now been complicated and a takeover before the championship resumes is highly unlikely regardless of who ends up owning us, I’m not even confident that a takeover can be completed before the end of the January transfer window.

If anyone wants to learn more about our potential new overlord. He did a podcast about his F1 sponsorship debacle. Gives some good insight into him as well.

If they were talking to this Storey buffoon, who frankly is a laughable character who needs to fuck off, but ultimately went with King, surely that indicates that King isn't just a SISU plant? But then what the fuck do I know, the whole thing is batshit.

Don’t be suckered in by the ‘serious backers’ line - If he had the serious backers he says he does he would currently be involved in Sunderland

The blokes a loon and bad news and I can’t believe SISU even got involved with him in the first place
Shows how desperate they must be. If she never got on the phone to Ashley but did with this character I don’t really know what to say

It sounds like they’d agreed with Storey and Storey just didn’t complete in time so she went to King. Sounds like she just wanted out TBH. I forget now, when did Ashley come on the scene? I’d assume any exclusivity would be at least a month to complete which suggests early to mid October was when she sold, was he about then?

Is he a loon ? certainly for me has a strange fashion sense and had an odd relationship with the Haas formula one team but sounds if true he is t a lone wolf and fronts serious financial backers. Did he/they lose out to others at Sunderland or just kicked onto touch. Loon or not he exists as do others. Apparently Gilbert has an interview with him at 11am, bound to present himself as a real deal as Doug King has done.

I don't quite understand what Storey thinks his case is to be honest. I think Ashley had been sniffing around longer than that, but just the stadium for the moment unfortunately.
