I suspect he said something to keep player moral up while he was putting a big change in place, replacing the manager. He isn't gonna say it's a bit shit and Robin's pissed the money is he?
No doubt Lampard agreed a January war chest to improve the team from the mess we're in. We'll see what the January turnover is.

So he played to the gallery? It happens.
Some on here think anything said to the local media is gospel though.

Just to chime in here on the 'Sisu would have sold Vik and Hamer in Jan' no they wouldn't

Viktor had a gentleman's agreement with Robins and the club that he would leave in the summer if we didn't go up. That happened

Hamer, no one ever bid for him in Jan. Not one club.

Sisu knew that they had 1 season left. They knew financially we were promotion or (literally) bust. Hyam was sold to pay the tax bill. Not the pitch. Overson paid the pitch, I've seen the documentation

If SISU had stayed we were going bust come what may in the summer. The money had gone. Selling Vik or Hamer in January for peanuts may have kept us going a little while longer, but even Joy knew at that point that it was a sticking plaster. She knew it was a tilt at miracle promotion, or sell the club.

This is why Doug came out of nowhere. This is why you haven't seen SISU anywhere in anything since. This is why Dougs not spent any of his own money. This is why Doug has a 5 year plan. This is why the only tangible asset we own in Ryton has been redeveloped.

I've said it many a time on here and been abused for it, but maybe now some will see. The man is clueless and got given the football club as a punt at getting the millions back he was owed by SISU, or pennies in the pound if he forced them (and by knock on affect, the club). This is why everything's 5 years. This is why it's all 'my way or the highway' it's his only vehicle of being able to get back millions he was owed.

The man bangs on about the premier league all the time because he has no other option

People need to pay attention to what he said at that fans forum

'I wasn't risking the future of the club, so I had to act'

If We go down, we will be on the same magical mystery ride we went on 15 years ago, because I am telling you now, that man will not put a penny towards anything, will asset strip and do whatever he can to come out of his gamble with at least 50p in his pocket

Let's see what money Lampard gets and what happens in January.
I can't believe Lampard took the job unless he had reasonable funds and authority over transfers. It's a last chance saloon for him.

He wasn’t owed a penny by Sisu. They don’t and never have had any actual funds.

King has spent his money - or his investment portfolio has. Stop being a patsy for that weirdo who used to think he had a stake in the club.

How did SISU owe Doug money? I can only assume they invested in one of his businesses but I still don't see how they would come out of that in debt to King

Where do you think he came from then?

The man literally didn't even know where the CBS was, said it himself.

If youre buying a business wouldn't you want to know where your place of work etc would be?

Robins decided last season to play Palmer ahead of him.

To reiterate

I don't think he favoured him over O'Hare.
O'Hare played 4 games in 14 days on his return and got dropped to the bench so I'd imagine that was to give him a rest.

Next time Palmer started was against Plymouth when O'Hare wasn't in the squad for whatever reason but he came straight back in.

Then Maidstone in the cup which I'd imagine everyone would agree with.

Then he picked Palmer over him a few times around mid March to the end of the season but O'Hare always came straight back in so I'd imagine it was manging his workload more than anything.

For example O'Hare never made the squad for Hull next game after the semi but he'd run 13K against United so I think it was more about looking after O'Hare who let's remember only came back from serious injury 3 or 4 months earlier.

Whether the man used to give O'Hare a break should have been Palmer is up for debate.

Why would I need to doubt it?

Not a fan of King but he’s done what he’s done now. Think Lampards a decent bloke with good experience in the game but the problems with this squad are clear to all.

Question for me is do we throw big money at it in January? Or try and stay calm and look to get an experienced CB and some right back cover for Milan on loan. Then clear house in the summer.

Does anyone know if Sheaf is off in Jan and wtf is going on with Simms?

I couldn't give a fuck about the owner, I was the same under the last lot (Hence why I went to Nhampton and went to Brum whilst others stayed away) and I am the same now

Do I think he is great, no (I do not think there are any truly 'Great' owners in football other than a few notable exceptions)

Flip the coin do I think he is dreadful, no - Do I think he is an improvement on the last lot, yes and the revisionism to try and praise the old owners when all they did realistically was stumble on the right manager at the right time who cooled the heat towards them is a bit ridiculous and is incorrect

Football fans 99% of the time care about results on the pitch, there were no threads about the owner being the antichrist when we were getting to Wembley last season or on the cusp of the play offs

The owner made mistakes, but he is not responsible for every bump in the road this club faces

This is avoiding what I’ve said.

Sisu do not owe millions to King. Hedge funds don’t owe money to individuals and the club was funded through investors in Arvo and the SMF.

Someone in kings portfolio has funded the club.

If Overson is tacky enough to feed this nonsense to someone to put it in a public forum and leak confidential documents to suggest he paid for the pitch this makes him look a very sad and pitiful individual

Oh and I doubt Joy Seppalla knew where the CBS was when the investment fund purchased it.

Also if king was owed millions why did Sisu offer William Storey exclusivity before selling to him?

Storey was never offered exclusivity. Come on Grendel you're an intelligent man, that blokes got less money than a starving Ethiopian and a fantasist. Makes Dale Evans look sane

And tbf on the 'confidential documents' thing it's not confidential at all I dont think, just an invoice from the pitch company

Sadly, King’s ownership has lots of parallels to that of SISU. Heroes when taking over, saving our club when it was in the shit, but soon selling best players, starting a downward spiral which last time ended up with Championship relegation in 2012.

Without external investment, the King years will be similar to those of SISU in the Championship. And I suspect he, like SISU, is really interested in the real estate rather than the football.

Sisu never denied he was just the terms were not breached

@oldfiver has refuted the claim he paid for the pitch and he is knowledgeable about financial matters in the Sisu era

I've literally seen the documentation. Unless he's Dale Evans'd it i have no reason to disbelieve it mate 🤷‍♂️

Unless of course he obtained the funding through a certain third party and then put it into the public domain.

Why doesn’t he let you put in on here so we can look and assess validity?

Full disclosure I don’t mind him being here to repay a debt. Business decisions have mostly been positive but we need a director of football asap to help with the footballing decisions.

Would genuinely look to shift Austin, could bring back Chris since Aberdeen look to have moved on or look towards Jamie Johnston in our scouting team.

But for king to be a success for himself and us, he needs to leave football decisions to a director of football imo. Steve Round would be great for us imo.

@Saddlebrains Have you heard anything about this?

From memory I think Storey was offered a limited exclusivity but it depended on certain conditions- the most important being proof of funds. Storey claimed he had backers but they never fully came forward. SISU only considered Storey because of a request from Hoffman who knew Storey's backers
So he lost any very limited chance to take over

No third party funded the pitch repair!

For the umpteenth time Overson did not pay for the pitch. The alleged documentation has been promised for me to see but has never been produced.

SISU had no plans to sell Hamer and OHare at a knock down sum in the January period. End of.
