Preston fan here.

You're probably familiar with our current predicament, and we now find ourselves linked \with two of your former managers - Dowie and Coleman.

I suspect you don't have glowing reports to give me on either, but any chance you could give me the major negatives and positives from both?

Coleman - Hoof Ball. Not very tactical. Good with youth signings and loan signings. Doesn't like to play academy players. Plays with a small squad.

Dowie - I honestly can't remember much but he led us to a 2-0 win at old trafford.

Coleman- Rarely knows his best squad, likes younger players doesn't stick to a certain style of play, his teams don't look very motivated tactically better than dowie.

Dowie- Signs the old guard, likes big wingers decent attacking style of football often leading to you receiving a hiding, tactically shocking but good motivaton.

Thats about the basics imo.

Thanks lads. What we need is someone to come in and motivate us,plus organising us defensively.

We're leaking 2 goals a game and have some decent players who just can't be arsed!

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Do you think Andy Lonergan will move if you get relegated. I hope he does and comes to cov when westwood leaves.

I would be glad to see Ferguson go. If he couldn't do a job with daddys help then get rid.

Good Luck :)

Lonergan is the object of polarised opinions with the Preston fans.

He is capable of top-flight shot stopping but doesn't command his area as much as he should.

I suspect if he went down we'd HAVE to sell him, as he's one of our top earners.

Coleman - media player lets favourite press pundit pick the team - Dowie - fitness fanatic - counts work rate above ability

Coleman has a good eye for talent spotting, can get you good young players for cheap who then become some of the better players in the league (Westwood and Gunnarsson prime examples). However he will not motivate your team as he believes in players who should already have enough about them to motivate themselves. Tactically I think he does prefer to play the passing game but in the end it was mostly longball to get us out of ruts which was ineffective once our target man had left last season (Best). I like Coleman but I'm not sure he is the right man for Preston, I think you need someone who will be tough on the players and take no shit (Jim Gannon? Not sure what he's doing now... seems to do well with relegation fodder, no offence)

Can't remember too much about Dowie but I was disappointed when he got the sack. He's very scientific in his approach, again I'm not sure if he is the right man for Preston although having said that he turned Palace from relegation fodder into a team who got promoted in a very short space of time but looking at his overall record it may have just been a one off or beginners luck.

Cheers. Coleman sounds like exactly the wrong type of manager. We need a motivator.

We're well adrift at the bottom but you never know...if we get the right man in and sign some decent players we may just stay up!

Good luck...etc...
