Dulieu - Give The New Board Time (1 Viewer)

By the sounds of things, SISU and the board seem to have long term plans for Cov :

"The new board took over in March and since then we have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure the club is in a position to move forward on a sustainable basis in the future.

"That might not sound exciting to supporters but every club in the Championship is going to have to get to grips with this sooner rather than later because of the Financial Fair Play rules that are expected to come into force for the 2012/2013 season.

"The work that the board has done in the past four to five months has put us ahead of most of our Championship rivals in that respect and it is hard work that ensured the owners would continue to fund the club.

"There is no timescale on that funding but we are secure and can begin the season with great confidence for the future. Substantial investment has gone into Coventry City over the past three years and as,of yet, that hasn't led to a change in fortunes on or off the pitch.

"It is up to this board to make sure that we use the funds wisely to stablise the club for the long term. This is not a sprint but a planned approach where once again we can compete at the highest level. I would ask that your new board and management are given time to effect the turnaround, rather than be judged on the events of the past three years.

"Of course, we understand that most supporters will ask what all of this means to the playing side and while we are not going out to break the bank, it has given us the opportunity to back Andy Thorn and his staff.

"We all saw the way Andy and Steve Harrison got the team playing at the end of last season and I am really looking forward to seeing that style of play throughout the whole campaign.

"As well as the staff on the playing side, we've got a fantastic team of people working inside the club at all levels from commercial to community and we will continue to ensure that we are all working as hard as we possibly can for the good of Coventry City.

"This is not going to be an easy task but we feel the events of the past couple of weeks should allow us to draw a line under the what has gone before and really start to make progress both on and off the field."

Its not 3 years, its 3 years and 8 months. Nearly 4 years to takes us out of the frying pan into the fire. Jusr noise from Ken Diddlydoo cos he can't say outright what fans only care about the team on the pitch and there's no money coming anytime soon. At least he didn't mention the fair paly rules like Clouting did yesterday.

His talking rubbish as usual. They are planning for something they don't even know will be coming into effect yet. They keep going on about cutting the wage bill for these fair play rules but this strategy is going to land us in league 1 which will be even worse.

I also hate the way these people try to understand the playing side of the club, I remember Brody made a comment on twitter a couple of weeks ago. Somebody asked him if there were any new players on the horizon and he responded something like "Unfortunately not, but on the bright side AT has the team really gelling well in pre season with a great team spirit"

Blah blah blah when the realisation of losing king hits home half way through the season it will be too late and we will be fecked. It looks like we could pass the ball around for hours but sadly that doesn't win games does it?

No rules are even agreed for the 12/13 season well not for the champipnship anyway. Perhaps he is making reference to the lower leagues as they are further advanced and is expecting us to be relegated with lowest goal record in the history of the championship.

I dont believe a word he says!

Entirely agree, and we are the only side working towards the new regulations this season! He can go suck on a lemon.

The very out spoken Baker was telling a mate of mine that Dulieu costs the club £900 in expenses with every visit from Portugal to the Ricoh.

We will be well on the way to relegation by the January transfer window. The squad of players we currently have will take us to League 1. Fact!

We have good players, just that the squad is too thin. We are certain to become a cropper. Usually when you have to and injuries kick-in you have to bring in some kids and blood them early. We are bringing in the kids now. What's going to happen when we get a few more injuries?

Hmm does he mean back as in the two potential signings in which case we might see something this week or does he mean back as in not have to sell any one else? I would presume this comes after Thursday meeting with SISU to discuss investment. Either way they are setting us up for a long hard season

Was the chairman at yesterdays match ? I doubt it very much. There can't be a bigger fixture can there ? Opening day of the season, against our local fivals and possibly our biggest gate.
