Earlsdon's Observations At Cheltenham (1 Viewer)

1) Davies was a huge boost to the defence. He controlled things across the back 4 and really made it look a lot more organised.

2) Kelly was outstanding. For me he just played phenomenal all game. Aggressive but also calm when needed. He was like Doyle, just with a bit more quality.

3) McNulty's goals were class. His third is not done justice by the highlights. Watching it live from the side stand angle it was clear to see he knew exactly what he was doing and he fizzed that ball perfectly.

4) The fans running on the pitch were a complete embarrassment. We had 50 year old blokes and also literally 10 year old children running on the pitch at one point. Where are the parents? The full time pitch invasion was also really cringey. Save it until we've actually progressed.

5) Fans were blocking aisles and fighting each other for space. Hey, their stswards were really fair. Take your seat and stop being a c**t. Not fucking hard is it?

6) I'm so happy and drunk I don't know what to do. I don't think I've ever seen us as good as today. What a reaction to the Lincoln game.

7) Robins is our king.

I am delighted that you are delighted. Sorry to rain on your parade, it amounts to nothing if we don't go up.
We have potentially 4 games left. I shudder when I think of any 4 games over the season, it will be a loss, a draw and 2 wins-hopefully the gods will ensure that the dice roll our way.

I would say the parents of the 50 year olds are probably far too frail and incapacitated to do anything about it.

Or they may be dead.

Cannot argue with any of that.

Big mention to Kelly. I rated him very highly yesterday too in fact last few games. Picked up every loose ball. He wins almost every 50/50. And I thought just doesn't give the ball away.
I thought particularly second half, he absolutely dominated the midfield. Fantastic performance.

Seems running on the pitch is a weekly thing for us these days and it is cringe.
The running on the pitch and letting off smoke bombs whenever we score a goal is embarrassing. Its not like its a Champions League night against Barca.

On Tuesday night against Lincoln the stewards checking my bag even made me open my glass case in case I had a smoke bomb in there.

Kelly never gives the ball away. Doyle on the other hand
Completely agree with the point. I do actually think that yesterday was probably Doyle's best game of the season on the ball though, which largely went unnoticed due to the craziness of the game and had an unappreciated part to play in how well we performed as a team. A lot easier to play nice football when you can play 3 or 4 passes without it getting launched out for a goal kick.

Doyle always looks for that edge. Taking quick free kicks can sometimes make you look stupid, normally because your own players aren't always switched on but it is a really useful weapon against League 2 defenders when they don't have time to organise themselves. I remember when we had Dennis Wise & he was always looking to take quick free kicks. Nice to think he is still having a positive influence on us through Doyle's experience from when they played together.

Very silly error that from the Cheltenham player to throw Doyle the ball at a free kick.

Obviously wasn’t paying attention to the team brief last week when talking about us.

Nick had called me out on this before. I don't know how I do it but I'm the same talking wise.

I did a best mans speech back in October and the nerves were so bad (150 people), that I necked about 6 pints kind of by accident within the hour before the speech. I got up there and absolutely nailed it. Blew everyone away.

It's a nice gift to have, but I guess you could say I'm so much of an alcoholic that it's just a lot of practice!

If I drank that much before a speech I'd have to go for a piss twice during the speech.

Oh the joys of getting old..........................
