Exactly. Just stay one of the positive ones! It has always come together eventually under Robins.

Let the fuckwit booboys write players off like they usually do.

I hope Simms has got his fingers in the ears celebration ready . That'll wind them up even more!

I’d hope he avoids social media. I’ve not heard any ‘mass’ disdain during games yet. Long may that continue.

Can't do his confidence any good hearing the fans sing the name of the guy on the bench and not his tbf.
So what are we saying now. From the consensus on here hes not allowed to not start, hes not allowed to be subbed and no one is allowed to sing any other strikers name because it may upset him or affect his confidence.

I don't think anyone has said any of those things.

Can't believe people writing him off already, new team, new system. Positive signs on Saturday and will get better, look at Gyokeres when he first signed, struggled to get in the team
Who's writing him off?

Only the bed wetters who cant acknowledge the blindingly obvious and wont accept the slightest criticism of anyone and are having a meltdown and saying he's been written off.

What People are saying is he's been poor in 4 games, that's not writing him off, that's just an observation, he could get m.o.m in the next game ffs.
Plenty of players can have a poor start.

both will improve given time, i dont get the apparent "hate" for Simms and the love in for Wright...

Wright missed easily our best chance on Saturday, had Simms have missed it there would have been uproar 😂

both need to improve and will do, quite simple

People have mentioned him not getting the service, but one thing I've noticed is that he always makes the run behind the defender, this putting a player between him and the passer. So the passer might think the ball would get intercepted if he played it and so doesn't bother.

This seems to be a feature of his game. When the ball is on the wings he drifts towards the back post, making it less likely he'll get onto a cross.

He needs to start trying to get in front of a defender at times.

What? He makes runs behind a teams defence and that's a bad thing?

Listened to what mowbray said about him after the game, we’ve got a good player he’s going to be fine once he’s settled in

No. I said he always has a defender between himself and the person playing the ball. Makes the chance of him actually getting the ball pretty small. He needs to try and run across the defender as well.

I used to do that in Sunday league when I was trying to look like I was giving it a go but breathing out of my arse

Every striker does that. The idea is to play it in the space behind the defender who has to turn and try and get back before the striker gets the ball and shoots. He's not looking for a pass to his feet.

I'm not saying pass it to his feet. I'm saying for him to try and run in front of the defender onto a throughball. I know strikers tend to arc their runs behind a defender but Simms doesn't seem to not exploit the space behind but keep the defender between him and the ball making it harder for him to receive a pass. And I don't think he's got the acceleration to get across the back of the defender or to get onto a ball played further ahead of him.

I can’t comment on whole game but second half I saw him peel away/arching run away from defender leaving space for through balls a couple of times but we kept it short and missed the chance. One was sheaf, not sure about other. Eccles and sheaf are very tidy in defensive midfield roles but less likely to try that type of pass than say hamer. As has been said before it’s players getting used to new players strengths and styles which will take time.

One thing I would say is if that was Vik he’d have been going mental at players for not trying longer through ball when there was an opening so next time they might be more likely to try. Hopefully simms will find his voice in time and also players will be more alert to some of his runs

Fair points.

Simms isn't remonstrating with players for not trying the pass (though some, like my mate, might argue that's because he's hiding and not actually too disappointed they didn't play it)

And like you say Hamer isn't there playing the more adventurous passes and the likes of Sheaf and Eccles maybe don't think they have the technical ability to play that throughball accurately enough. However, I think Palmer has shown he's both capable and willing to play the risker pass, and some of his flicks suggest he has the vision to spot such opportunities.

I still believe a lot of it is a confidence issue for Simms, and if he can get that confidence up he could be an absolute beast.

Hiding is a good way of putting it tbh

Reminds me of Shipley when he realised he was out of his depth at this level. Ran around a bit, made the odd run to somewhere knowing he cant get the ball and was genuinely anonymous

There were a few games that first season up I genuinely didn't know he was playing
