Simms is a strange one. He’s obviously capable of scoring. But his touch and general play is pretty woeful. Moreover I’m just fed up with waiting for him to fire up and really put it all in. I know he has a laid back style but if you’re going to get away with that you need goals to validate it.
Yet he really did in his last start for us, then had a,toe was it at Middlesbrough?

Last goal he scored was against Luton, which in fairness, was a decent goal. 👍🏻

Am hoping Lampard plays a little more direct and encourages quick counter attacks. We were really good at that the play off season. He encouraged Chelsea to play that way. Are problems and poor form coincided with Robins trying to play more possession based football.

Said this before and got abuse on here for it, but il say it again

Simms is dense. Genuinely feel thats part of his problem, he cant absorb information. I know he sounds it in interviews etc also, but its actually common knowledge that he's not going to be appearing University Challenge at some point

Not sure this kind of comment solves anything?

Seems to be a lot of chatter on social media that he’s not injured and has been dropped for disciplinary reasons?

A lot of chatter on social media by people who know SFA 😂

I agree, it doesn't

But just saying my view as to why he's regressing

Plenty of footballers are stupid. When Terry Gibson signed from Tottenham he couldn’t understand why Coventry hadn’t got an underground system. He thought every City had one.

See Beckham and Rooney.

Our forwards are quick, it would suit us to play quick counter attacks.
Yep.

This getting the ball down the line for crosses makes no sense when most of our strikers (Wright, bassette, BTA, even Tavares) are much better suited to running onto through balls to use their pace. Only one is even vaguely suits is Simms and I wouldn't say it's his forte either.

20 goals last season. The reason he isn’t playing well is the whole system was built around a 4-2-3-1 with him as the focal point and it’s been tinkered with every single week. Strikers are confidence players, it’s the truth up and down the leagues, what happened when he got a run of games last year, a bit of faith… he went on an unbelievable run scoring 20 goals. Was up there with the best in the league, giving a striker 1.5 games and then dropping him for the next one and then repeating delivers zero continuity. Play him for 6-8 games, it’s time to put faith in one of them for a consistent period of time and out of all of them I’d back him.

But are you willing to essentially forfeit games just on the belief that Simms will become good again if you keep playing him?

Obviously a confidence player, robins had him in and out the team too much, one of the players who complained to robins about why he wasn’t playing enough, and got benched with Bassette, problem now for Simms is Lampard prefers a 433 he’s got Bassette keeping him out the team going to be hard to get in front of him, shame, feel a bit sorry for simms after all the stick he got when he first came, soon shut the idiots up, he’s got to prove himself again now,

Are the rumours true that he never sleeps and just stays up watching anime true or not? It's been playing on my mind and the more I think about it the more I think he looks like a person that never sleeps.

I see it less as that, more that we’ve (up to this point) mishandled the squad. If Simms is to sit out a few or come on as sub then so be it. We’ve had so many different attacking lineups this season, different shapes, different personnel, that no one really stands a cat in hell’s chance of forming a relationship.

Pick a team. Stick as close as you can to it for 6-8 games. The results will generally bear fruit. See also why people are getting annoyed MvE and Sakamoto have been split up on the right.

Are Bassette or BTA 20 goal strikers in this division? He’s not being dropped for anybody that is clearly better than him.

Spot on, we’re on our 3rd keeper and 10th defensive combination,
