Do we?......
ha, I say that I prefer football the way it was 20years ago and that makes me a 'chav' or a kid. For saying I don't agree with it being a happy clappy family day out? But if you're going to be childish, hows your missus and my kids doing?
I'm with Earlsdon. I much preferred it when going the football had an edge and it was a very tribal lads day out.
Not all this sanitised, face painted, all happily drinking together bore fest.
Its a bit of both. Banter and micky taking is great but hardened swearing, fighting and stone throwing is all a bit dated. Making that young lad cry was disgusting and the crowd around those guys/lowlives who did it were rightly upset. Also solo chanting is always a give away that you are not the full ticket. Fan base now includes women and children so some common decency is required. I just wish the police who were right next to it would have a word sooner.
Football is primarily a GAME. Games are to be enjoyed.
Professional football is a business - one which has seen a healthy increase in attendances since respectful people have observed the risk of exposure to mindless thuggery has reduced significantly too.
Accepting this tribal thing of yours - maybe the club ought to take the lead & introduce one designated section behind smoked glass where home & away thugs can can mingle undisturbed by police & stewards. If they want to fight then they can safely do so in the knowledge that they cannot be seen. They just have to sign away right to NHS treatment & police protection before entering as well as accepting if they are injured they have no right to blame anyone other than themselves. Any anti-social activity outside of that area the police can get on with cracking down on & really issuing stern penalties.

If this happened how many would enter into this section? Not many is my guess.
You've given the exact pathetic answer, I expected somebody to give. Nobody is talking about fighting or bullying ballboys. Just having an atmosphere with a bit of an edge. I agree completley with Garrsion. Sadly a lot of you seem to be of 'the soccer am' generation, all seater stadiums, family crowds and goal music. I miss the old days.
Can I book a wheel chair space please ?

I can't believe some of what I have just read.
Does anyone agree with the 10 year old ballboy getting abuse? If so would you be happy for a 10 year old lad of your own to get abuse of an idiot like this?
Women and kids at games....I know a few women STH's. I know a few women that go to away games. They love the game. They love our club. Very knowledgable. Support our team vocally. Everything you would want from a fellow Cov supporter. I love going to games with them.
Tribal day out? I love to go on a boys day out. I love to have a good drink before the game. Fighting? Old hat. Only for idiots. I started going to games in the early 80's. I was one of them idiots then. I have now grown up. I am not proud of what I got up to nearly 30 years ago. The last two times I have had any trouble of any kind was with Cov fans. The last one was the worse. I had just left a pub with a few lads when I saw a few Cov lads starting on a Fester fan in front of his partner and two young lads. When I shouted at them to stop and ran over they started on me. Must have thought I was a Fester fan. Ended up walking the family to the ground. Luckily the father only had cuts and graises. Hope the lads got over it quickly. So does tribal mean attacking defenceless people? In front of their families?
If you want a good day out have a few beers and watch the game. If you want to fight then either take up boxing, cagefighting or some sort of martial art. Or is it a problem that you might come across someone that can look after themselves. Or is it you can't run when needed?
Football is a game for the people. So who thinks you must be a caveman who is pissed and don't like women and can abuse who they want when they go to a game because they have paid for their ticket?

Ha 'dude' I'd rather be 'a chav' than use gimpy dialogue like that! No I'm not a kid, but I'm fairly sure you are, enjoy your happyclappy liberal views. All of you are taking this too far, didn't hear all the blues fans going on and on at eachother on tues when some fans abused a ball boy and willis.Dude I know your a kid/ Too young to remember

Great idea, bazza. Why don't we convert the away end for this purpose?!Football is primarily a GAME. Games are to be enjoyed.

what actually happened to the ball boy?
As for away days. You can't beat an all dayer away with the lads. Going on the train, having a laugh. Usually the football spoils the day. Give me a football match 20-30 years ago over today borefest. Can't smoke, can't drink, can't swear and get a banning order for offensive language.
Saturday was all about letting all of the working week anger out. Now it's just mostly a middle class sport with working class priced out.

You don't get banned for swearing. You get banned for being offensive. I have never been banned for swearing. Been told to stop a fair few times though.
Smoking....not many places you can now. It is not just at games.
Drinking.....rarely sober at games.
Middle class prices? Save up £30 a month and you have enough for a season ticket. Working mans affordability. What costs the most is transportation costs. Nothing to do with football.

Well stop fucking going to the games. No one's forcing you to pay £20/£30 a week and the rest of us could WATCH FOOTBALL like we want to without listening to fucking morons like you swearing at players for making a misplaced pass. If you want a day out with the lads then go to the fucking pub and watch some football there on TV.
As soon as Crewe scored on Saturday I saw at least 20 "fans" just leave to go to the pub and asking around to see if anyone else wanted to come. Fuck off the lot of you - we need SUPPORTERS to help our club at the moment not pricks like the yobs abusing the ball boys.
Also, can you imagine what Kilbane's saying to all his mates in the game about CCFC at the moment?? Who the fuck is going to join us to be consistently called a 'wanker'? Our reputation among the inner circle of football must be the absolute pits.
So offensive language is worthy of a banning order in your eyes?
Smoking - Its outside so why should it be banned??? In the concourse yes but outside?
Middle class price - Yes it is, when it was a working class sport it was affordable to all. I know plenty who cant afford the prices. £250 week wage, having to pay for petrol, care, house, bills, food, kids etc... We subsidise for the ridiclous wages. and season ticket has nothing to do with the discussion.
