If it was financially viable to set up your own independent operation I'm sure clubs would be doing it, (we're not the only ones who use them).

I share your hate of these companies but unfortunately I think we're stuck with them.
If thats the case why don't the EFL or the FA do it and let the clubs use it for a fee at least all the money would be going back into football and not the pockets of these B-------s.

No ones daft enough to hold that opinion and no one's daft enough to believe someone holds that opinion, (though some indignant poster will probably be along in a minute to disprove that second statement)

Again, probably not viable financially which is why they handle so many major events. There has to be a valid reason why so many venues and organisations hand over their ticketing to them.
It's certainly not for thexquality of the service they provide!

Yeah, must be lots of practical benefits sharing the same platform. Take Wembley games for example, tm handle those games, so of if the details (ST details, loyalty points, friends and family) are already loaded on to that system, it obviously makes it a lot easier.

Subject: Safe Standing


As promised last night

Coventry City are undertaking supporter consultation over the coming months regarding safe standing at the Coventry Building Society Arena, with the plan to implement safe standing solutions in time for the 2024/25 campaign.
Chief Executive Dave Boddy has undertaken work and site visits in conjunction with the Arena over the past few months, hosting a number of potential providers of a safe standing solution. This work will continue, with fan consultations to begin at the start of the season. This work has also included meetings with Coventry City Council and the Sports Ground Safety Authority.
The Club has currently identified Blocks 13, 14, 15 and 16 from Row U upwards for the safe standing solution to be installed, as a result of safety concerns identified by authorities over a period of time in these areas, however this may change following the consultation.
The Club, Coventry City Council and the Sports Ground Safety Authority spoke at July’s Supporter Forum to supporters group representatives, and we now welcome feedback from these groups regarding the plans.
Supporter Groups are asked to email [email protected] with any views they have on safe standing at the Arena, or any queries they would want the Club to address.
Shortly, Coventry City will be contacting all supporters directly affected by the proposals to gather their views too.

Is this honestly the consultation for the safe standing? Is there no survey asking specific questions like do you support its introduction, if you are a season ticket holder in an affected seat will you renew there? Is there no information on which to respond like what the standing will look like, wil ST be cheaper than at present, what plans do the cluB have to support existing season ticket holders who need or want to move etc. The above can’t be it surely? You need a few questions you can quantify the results from - like of 700 affected ST ticket holders, 300 responded and 65% of them supported the switch to safe standing. I’ve organised consultations in my job and I would be out of it if that was all I did. and the period of ’shortly’ has long passed since July. I’m in an affected seat and haven’t been contacted to gather my views.

They are proposing that it is introduced in areas of the ground where everyone already stands all game. I'm not sure of the grounds on which anyone would object. Not even sure a consultation is needed.

it does say they will in time reach out to the people in the area they have in mind and they have also said they are just working through a few things before then

I was at the other end but a mate in block 14 told me there were bits of confrontation from fans one being a fat fifty odd year old knuckle dragger from the Sheffield side, cops useless nowadays years back he’d be outed and in a van.
Some of our lot are as bad
then belly ache about the closed blocks
It’s these pathetic incidents which affects decisions on attendance and blocks being closed which ultimately costs the club income at 2000 a match iys

So many clubs have safe standing now. Watching Brentford last night and noticed an entire stand with it.

We are dragging our heels.

The biggest issue I see is not where they plan to introduce safe standing, it's a no brainer, and is really about ticking the safety certificate box, it won't change anything for those in the areas suggested. It's more about the areas not included, those at the bottom of the blocks who currently stand, and those at the back of blocks 17 and 18 who stand also.

Those areas are not closed currently, and it was a complete non incident you refer to, just one Wednesday idiot. Shouldn't change the fact that they are now happy for there to be no closed blocks between home and away fans if demand is there.

There’s an empty block on right hand sided opposite me, that one little incident which it probably was can influence decisions, don’t know if anything happened to the idiot obviously identifiable two or three old bill dragging him out probably would have defused any potential issue, same with any of our lot who spend half the came looking at the away end.

Yep, there's quite a lot who sit towards the bottom of 15 and especially 16. Need to switch people over.

Realistically, 14,15 and 16 should be safe standing from top to bottom. People can still sit with the pole in front.

It seems we have given Leicester more tickets than Wednesday, so it should be occupied for that game.

Some mesh netting from floor to ceiling would solve many of the issues that raise concerns. Could blocks 25/26 be used as a standing area? The focus on 14/15 may be erroneous? This would ease any tension in the area around 13/14/15 and therefore open up a few more seats on matchdays. It would be pretty obvious to most away fans that those sitting near them simply want to watch a game of football.

Why ? My son (14 and really getting into the Sky Blues now) and I have STs in the family stand. We travel 300 miles round trip from Essex for a home game and can’t make midweeks for obvious reasons. We’ve paid our money, the club now has another fan from the next generation - why should we be penalised ? Genuine question

It was introduced in the north stand obviously not to the ceiling, first time noticed, just a temporary portable measure to prevent ball hitting the crowds or whatever.

My season ticket, which I’ve had since the move to the Ricoh, is in the affected area and whilst I completely support the introduction of safe standing in the ground, I do not stand all game and want to have a seat available to me. Hence me being interested in how the club plan to manage the transition to safe standing for season ticket holders in that area. Will we, for example, have a period in which we can choose to move our seats to ones in say block 17 that are not currently held by season ticket holders? Maybe it doesn’t need a consultation but the club does need to reach out to those affected and there is quite a long gap between saying ‘shortly’ in July and the end of December. They could for example have got in touch and encouraged us to try seats in 17 that would be available next season to for the FA Cup game.

From my experience, it won't really change anything. The only difference will be a bar we can lean on, and you can easily see over this while seated, especially with the steep incline at the CBS. Don't imagine there will be many who move, but yes, they need to have a plan for those that do. I guess that would just be a grace period following the end of the period where STs are reserved. They did this last summer iirc.

You will obviously still have a seat . They are not reintroducing terraces, just adding a rail between each row. I’m not sure how much consultation is needed for that in an area which is 99% unsafe standing at the moment. Just get on with it.

Ticketmaster is part of the same company as Livenation who own or operate venues and are the booking agent for the artist. Their biggest competitor is AXS which is part of AEG who also own or operate venues and are the booking agent for the artist.

Years ago Pearl Jam tried to tour without using ticketmaster and it was a disaster. They had play odd venues and eventually they had to give up the boycott as it just wasn't working.

The CEO of Ticketmaster got called up before congress in the US and openly said Ticketmaster's role is to be the bad guy. They take the blame for practices endorsed by artists as the artists don't want to be seen to be the ones ripping off their own fans.

The big selling point of Ticketmaster used to be that they could handle the volume of sales in a way you couldn't yourself but looking at the mess they've made of recent tours like Taylor Swift not really sure that applies anymore. There's no reason the FA & EFL couldn't get together and put their own system in place but I guess they don't think it's worth the time and effort when there's services already available. Didn't the FA used to have their own system for Wembley? Been a while since I've been to see England but sure it wasn't Ticketmaster and seemed to work ok.

I think a lot of people have forgotten how often the system pre-ticketmaster used to completely collapse. Its obv possible but does the cost of developing an in house system bring any return for the club?

The most obvious options to change to are AXS or, for a more local option, Ticket Factory (part of the NEC group). Both platforms have their own issues. I think in both cases you'd see ticket purchasing fees increase significantly.

I mean load balancing and the like has come on a lot in the last decade or so. It’s less that CCFC should do it and more that there should be better options using off the shelf components.

If you’re Taylor Swift then yes that’s absolutely an engineering challenge. If you’re CCFC I just don’t see it.

yeah as said there will still be a seat for you to sit on, they just add rails to allow people to stand and lean on them

Your right. The barrier will not obscure view whilst sitting down .
However, no one will sit down during live action. You will have no option but to stand unless you're not that bothered about watching . It will only take a few to stand up , and I'm sure they will take that option if it's safe standing , and everyone will do the same.

If you are someone who has any hesitation about having to stand up during the game and would prefer to sit my advice is to move as soon as is practically possible because otherwise you will be in the wrong place.
