This season shows that we need to invest in the team. Pressley can talk about wanting academy products in the team. But I think this is a decision made above his head, and he's accepted the challenge of gaining this target met. That said, I don't think a team of kids are enough to compete in this league. Wolves may have done it, think there was some talk of them having x amount of former academy products in their promotion winning squad, but it's a big ask.
I agree on the positions you mention in the OP. We are desperately short of quality in the CB position. Webster is average, Seabourne I don't think is the answer. Yes, he gained promotion with Yeovil but he didn't do it alone. We concede far too many goals season after season
Not sure what Adams has done wrong. Will he be one that gets told on Monday he's no longer required? Good player IMO but to have a CB playing in your place when your fit enough for the bench, I imagine he's not out of the team because of Willis's form.
Midfield also needs investment. Thomas and Daniels won't go far outside of this league. If you want to compete, we need midfielders who aren't afraid of getting involved in the nitty gritty stuff. Win second balls.
Fleck has been too inconsistent over the course of the season. Baker in and out of the team suggests that he may only be a bit / part player next season.
Marshall looked OK, atleast before today anyway. Today he was bad. Might be worth a 1 year contract, see how he gets on after a full pre season. Got a feeling he will want a longer term deal though.
I hope Pressley has a good striker lined up too that can play alongside (and not be a replacement for) Wilson. The ones he's brought in since Clarkes departure certainly aren't the answer.
This season with all the off field problems, points deduction etc, I'm happy with staying in the division. Just a shame we could continue our early season form when key players were ruled out.
Hay ho. Being on pre season!
A relaxing World Cup in Brazil to take our minds off the City
They always seem to deliver less in a season than I think they will at the start, I think this has been a really poor season on the pitch and dreadful off it. People like Waggott saying it has been a success just goes to show how clueless he is. Next season will be a real struggle if nothing positive happens the playing staff will be worse and made up of young players and loans.
Best bit of the season has to be that we have heard very little from Fisher.
If we are not back at the Ricoh next year I will again not be going and it is becoming easier not to go every week, the future is scary as I have 1 son and another on the way who are they going to follow as I won't take them to Northampton my dad has already given up on it so will it be left to their Blues supporting granddad or worse than that Villa supporting mother!
I don't believe the Joy bowl will ever be built so worry the club will die in Northampton.
Plus Fisher keep your filthy hands off my brick I bought it for the Ricoh and I want it to stop there preferably with the team but not Sisu.
agree ,done well to stay up after all the turmoil at the start of the season ,but to still be off the playoffs by what ,13/14 points with the ten added ,well just not good enough .would love to say im looking forward to next season, but im not, and worried sick we wont survive
We've got the fun of another trip to court before then.
Well i would like to think you would have striven on through the thick and thin because that's what we do, we will see out these people and the troubles and will get back to being a good club aiming for the top flight it will be hard and tearful but will occur.
I found this informative, thank you

I am sure at some point these dreadful owners will go but what will they leave behind is the worry, a massive debt and a lost generation of fans. I feel that we have been through the thin and thinner and always hopped the next year would bring the thick! If we had different owners and where back home i would renew my season ticket straight away and buy the kids shirts etc. Even if I agreed with the owners I wouldn't be able to go to Northampton with nearly 3 children under 8 I could get away with dropping them at my parents at 2pm and then going to the game at the Ricoh but wouldn't be able to drop them off drive for an hour odd watch the game and then drive home another hour odd.
The seven year decline, under these owners, continues. Our points total this year is less than last and form over the last quarter of the season would put us firmly bottom of the table.
I judge our owners on that and, unfortunately, can only see the decline continuing. No doubt there will be others who prefer not to look at this aspect and will cheerfully point to ACL’s financial results or to some outlandish event taking place at the Ricoh and present this as evidence that the owners are sound and that we have a bright future with them. Meanwhile in the real world.....
Just for the record I live round the Meriden area and left at 2.15 and got to Sixfields to see the kick off.
Does anyone know how long the judicial review will take ? Just wondering how many bags of Dorritos to get in

... the start the team made in the first half of the season was fantastic and raised all our expectations. Instead of surviving relegation we started to believe in being in the play-offs. The way we tailed off in the second half (plenty of reasons already mentioned why that happened) was a massive disappointment.
The continued presence in Northamton by the owners is literally killing the club with a thousand cuts. Yes the decline started a long time ago, but SISU have been in charge and running the club for 7 years. Where we are now has to be due to their management, despite who they blame. No one has written of any optimism for the future and how can you when SISU's track record is there for everyone to see.
The decline started long before SISU. Even before the club left Highfield Rd it was battling to stay in the Championship. Remember the last game at HR? It was a relegation battle ffs.
On the pitch I think the season promised much and delivered little.
I thought we would be relegated this season so in that respect it has been a success. Form since February will be the best indicator of things next season. The squad will be dismantled and rebuilt with cheap and (perhaps) less able players.
Having SP as manager at the start of next season seems unlikely however, the poor performances in the second half of the season might mean he stays. With budgets going down and owners not willing to support things as they should I think next season will be hard.
SISU seem to have budgeted for one more relegation. IMO they're on target to deliver that next season.
My end of season thoughts;
I am a huge Cov fan and this hasn't disminihed and never will. Yes we are at sixfields and I for one won't go. My opinion is it is morally wrong and the only reason we are there is because 2 greedy stupid horrible business can't agree a deal. So based on that it's seems stupid to go but the passion remains the same for me although to get why it has gone for others (even though they still post in a forum for football)
When we lose it hurts as much as ver and when we win I have a great day. That hasn't changed. I'm so happy we stayed up even though we scraped it and if been docked usual 15 points we would be gone but you play the cards you are dealt and objective achieved.
Unfortunately I'm going to sound obvious here but sisu and the team need to invest in players and wages and get Cov back to the Ricoh and then there is half a chance of promotion or top 6 I should say. This is a poor league with poor teams. Walsall are a very poor team and even we best them twice and still just off playoffs.
The owners need to invest for once and take advantage, look who is coming down. Yeovil, Donny and Barnsley I mean there is a chance. No wolves coming down. But sadly like most there will be no investment and selling Wilson et al for quick money. Like how we got into league 1 and relegation beckons next year.
