Portugal scraped through the group stages in 3rd with 3 draws last time and won it..... don't think they won a game in normal time until the semi final.

Personally, I’m not a fan of the new format. Just extend the tournament to have 2 new groups and the top 2 going through remains.

We won a group people were arguing would be best had we finished second on the assumption we’d have an easy Round of 16 tie.

Had we won our group in 2010, we’d have had a real chance of reaching the final, or at least the semis. But, we didn’t. It was a similar story in 2002 apparently.

We just need to keep getting the job done against teams.

In 2002 we get past Brazil we played Turkey in the semi and a weak German side we demolished a year before in the final .

Seaman decided he couldn't find his hands and ronaldhino lobbed him from a mile and a half

Brazil eased past Germany in the final

Brazil had a good side to be fair , and they had the greatest number 9 to ever live in Ronaldo nazario

Euro 2012 final against Spain, I think. Their gameplan was based entirely on shithousery, and it failed miserably.

2010 World Cup final and before that, you had the Netherlands v Portugal in Germany 2006 where the had 14 yellow cards, turning into 2 reds for Portugal.

Crazy game of football!

That tournament was the first one I really remember well. My primary school showed the matches before school - I think it was the 0-0 Nigeria game.

I was on holiday in Cyprus for the Brazil game and remember the Ronaldinho goal really well. Heartbreaking!

They were deserving winners , won the tournament by winning every match .

Too easy

The last of the Brazilian style Brazilian teams really before they started playing like Europeans

Apart from THAT goal, the one thing I remember about Brazil from that world cup was the ridiculous antics of Rivaldo to get that Turkish player sent off.

But yes, the level of talent that Brazil team had was frightening.

Remember years ago you'd always get excited about watching Brazil play , from as young as i can remember , it was like watching the unknown , yes they had players in Europe but they still had samba flair .. not really for the last 15 years they are too European now , style and everything

Can remember a family holiday to Salou in 2000. We went on the Nou Camp tour and I really wanted a Barca shirt with Rivaldo on the back. Didn’t get one. Not that it has much to do with your post.

Portugal are guaranteed to win at least something in these euros - the crappiest kit award.

Should've left it at 16 teams really. If you have 32 teams in the finals then qualifying becomes even more pointless than it already is.
It probably will extend to 32 eventually a few years after the World Cup goes to 48 teams.

I think the whole European qualifying set up needs a massive overhaul. Build on what the Nations league is already doing and have a football league style tier system with promotion/relegation but with 8 or so teams in each division.

Ronaldo may be this and that but when you dive clutching your face then get up seconds later & the replay shows no contact, that’s a f*cking yellow card no matter who you are surely

I can understand how we ended up with crappy template Nike and Puma kits in L1 and L2 but how they hell does something like that get signed off as the kit for a major tournament? Multiple people must have look at it and gone 'that's great, go with that'.
