Our team isn’t much better, still got class all over the field. They put 4 past Portugal

but then they struggled v Hungary.

What that tells you isn't that they're 'crap', it tells you they're inconsistent and have the hallmarks of a team in transition- bringing back older players to help etc- they are not the finished article and its a good time to be playing them.

I think we have better players, but its not a clear cut thing by any means.

Gonna be really really tough, and mentality will be as much a part of it as anything- how will we respond if we go behind for example?

I don't see how sitting back against them will do the job either, I think we have to go at them from the first minute, and I pray to god Kane recovers some kind of form, we don't need him lumbering about miles away from goal again

Great, the same Portugal who only won one game. They also couldn’t beat Hungary. It’s a matter of opinion and I believe we have a much better side.

I wouldn't say we've got a much better team, but I think i'd rather have ours than theirs.

Attacking wise I think player for player we're better. I'd rathr have Kane, Foden, Grealish and Sterling over Werner, Havertz, Gnabry and Sane

Defensively both have deficiences. Their defence is getting quite old and I think we've got the pace and technical ability to exploit it. Rudiger is open to mad moments and lapses of concentration just as much as Stones, Maguire and Mings.

One position I worry about is goalkeeper. I think Pickford is quite a poor keeper, error prone and doesn't concentrate enough. I also think at times his shot stopping can be quite poor and he lets stuff in or pushes it out/spills it into dangerous positions far too often.

I'm more worried about us making an error than them getting through us.

I'd have a fully firing Kane alright, but he's been shocking so far

I was talking likely team with mates yesterday and consensus is that he’ll go back five, two sitters and Mount and Foden back in. I’ll be a bit disappointed if that’s the case as I thought both Saka and Grealish did enough to keep their places (Wonder if there’s an outside chance of Saka playing LWB though - would be unsouthgate like but gets him in team). Also think Tripps might get in for delivery/set pieces

Either way though I can’t get too upset, I mean Mount and Foden are top players. I just want us to turn up, if we do I think we win

Getting excited now.....come on England !

So after earlier saying it was very unlikely we'd make the QF stage because we'd have to play France, Portugal or Germany, you now think two of those three teams are nothing to worry about and it would be an embarrassment if we didn't make the final?

Yes I still don’t think we will make the QF because our manager is a clown and it will be an embarrassment. Hope that clears it up. What did you make Bobby Bridge for lunch today?

What does that have to do with anything? We are at home with a team much better than theirs

No one has England as strong favourites. We’re ‘slight’ and the consensus is that this is pretty much a 50/50 game.

No one has us as favourites because our manager is a clown. With a decent gaffer we’d be heavy favourites.

A decent manager like Fabio Capello would get the job done against the Germans...

No mate don’t you know we should just be happy with losing to the Germans because we never beat them. We should just be happy to be here like the Welsh and the Scottish👍🏻

I expect that we will win against Germany. To suggest it’s an embarrassment to lose that game is just unreasonable and no respectable pundit would agree with your point of view.

Write Germany off at your peril.

Let’s be honest, our group wasn’t easy. Czech Rep have just dumped the Netherlands out of the tournament and held the then top scorers of the tournament to a clean sheet.

Likewise, if Croatia beat Spain, it’ll tell you a lot about our performances against those teams because neither team caused us much problems defensively.

Ffs I wish Eni Aluko and Alex Scott would agree with me. They’re the fountains of all football knowledge of course

Seriously, you wouldn't take Jose? He's done a fantastic job everywhere else he's been :ROFLMAO:

We’ve gone through the process of hiring big name, successful foreign managers. It just hasn’t worked out for us at all.

Mourinho is too abrasive, falls out with players too often and think he wouldn’t do well international management. I’m actually quite fond of Mourinho compared to most people.

His tactics would probably work, but seriously doubt he could keep a camp happy for a tournament.

I really like Mourinho, but wouldn’t be right for us

I actually think mourinho would be perfect for international management but he's at Roma now anyway
