lol- I think the fact you were ready with your cute little copy & paste from days ago and had it up within seconds of the final whistle shows you to be a bit of a loser- were you excitedly waiting to post? 😆

Sweden aren’t shit, they are not good to watch but they’re not that bad- dull but effective and they’re never gonna win anything. Which spookily enough is exactly what I said 👍

You’re just sore because you can’t launch into your usual distasteful rhetoric about Sterling

Just for once accept that you got it wrong and apologise.

I wonder who said all this, and there is plenty more too 😁

“Every time Sterling plays poor there are a contigent of fans that will just blindly defend him no matter what. That's what is weird. How he stayed on is baffling”

“His unhealthy idolisation of Sterling is a burden on the team”

“He'll play Sterling. He's in love with him. I just hope in this competition if he is a burden that he actually gets dropped.”

“Sterling gets played by default in tournaments it seems.”

“It's ok, Sterling has now scored from 4 yards.”

“Sterling is gash”

“In fairness, Sterling is absolutely awful for England.”

“people who are preoccupied with the Premier League, they often don't know a lot about anything else. The same when people were wanking over Sterling playing well against the Swedish national team for twenty minutes in the world cup. He was pulling the pants down of a 34 year old centre back...”

Ukraine have some good players and play some decent stuff at times but we should have too much for them. Plus they'll be missing a few players!

We'll never get a better chance than this...

Even with Sterling playing because Southgate is in love with him? 😆

What has that got to do with Sweden?

Seen quite a few posts saying the England game was boring. Do people actually think that or is it being said because there’s an ingrained dislike of Southgate? Personally, I thought it was anything but boring. Maybe not great quality in patches, but definitely not boring.

I don’t actually see what more people can want, after decades of failure we’re doing well at tournaments, not sure what more the guy has to do tbh, some people just don’t like him I guess

Are the people saying it’s boring credible people? Absolutely not.

First time we’ve beaten Germany in a knockout game since 1966. This is without penalties or extra time needed. No one has any just cause to complain about this result.

Huge achievement and Southgate deserves all the accolades coking his way just as he’d deserve the stick had he lost. Held his nerve, made his decisions and won the game.

Huge result psychologically.

There was a quiet spell for 15 mins or so in the second half, but that's to be expected.

I wouldn't say it was a boring game, just very tight and very tense. Not many attempts on goal.

I’m a fan and have always supported him (even if I didn’t/don’t agree with his team selections) but the first 70 mins we were poor. Germany were there for the taking. However, as I’ve said before, I’d have had shaw off at HT (set up first and involved in second goal) and Kane off not long before he scored. Thats football though and why I’m not a manager !

Should hopefully quieten down some of the pre match #Southgateout bed wetters though

Come on England !

No sure how you can say we were “poor” for 70 mins. Cautious maybe, but not poor as if we were clinging on or something

Sloppy in possession in patches (shaw consistently first half), didn’t take advantage of German weaknesses (they’re slow !), Kane barely had a kick, and we gave them a couple of decent opportunities. As I say, I’ll hold my hands up, I was fuming midway through second half and expected us to give them an undeserved goal/winner, but then we pulled it out the bag. That’s international football though

It was definitely boring for the most part, maybe only sparked up a bit when Grealish came on - not every opinion is because of a dislike for Southgate,I‘m sure he’s big enough to stand up for himself

We were efficient and that’s the gold standard in international football.

We had the better chances against Germany and deserved to win. We don’t get style points for winning in knockout games.

Perhaps this is something previous England managers have missed a trick on.

I obsessively look forward to England games, but I've got to admit that I've not greatly enjoyed watching them in this tournament.

I'm not trolling here and appreciate people will differ, but I just get the impression of an over cautious, almost joyless approach at times.

Sterling is certainly scoring, so all credit to him for finding good positions and working hard, but outside the box he often frustrates me immensely by running into traffic or giving it away too easily.

It's just my opinion though, and Southgate is clearly a thoroughly decent bloke as well as an astute manager. He's got my full support, and even if I don't much enjoy it sometimes, who cares, we're winning! :)

Agree with all that except for the coke heading his way. Shouldn't even be encouraging snus.

Southgate has a real dilemma now doesn't he. He can't now drop Grealish you wouldn't have thought, but is in deep love with Mount, so the latter will surely come back in, which would then result in Foden being left out.

For me, Foden is one of the very best players we've got.

Is that someone trying not to be racist? 😂

Pah he's probably run all of the scenario's through a super computer and gone with it's outcomes.😉🤔

You could make a legitimate argument for any of those left out. I'm with you though, Grealish has to play.

Agree with all of this Otis. nobody will give a hoot if we win (or probably even if we lose in the final) I do think if we get to the final, then lose having excluded our potential flair players, then there will be a re-examination of the selection, and a 'the other teams we played to get there were crap' I suppose it's what we do as fans. It seems madness to think we might win it without having fully utilised the assets that we thought gave us half a chance in the first place.

This annoys me whenever this happens ref: the world cup. You can only beat what's in front of you, and if France, Portugal, Netherlands (only one with any kind of bad luck story really, with the sending off) were better, they'd still be in this competition rather than the teams who beat them.

Hope we get a better ref than the one last night Sweden v Ukraine.
Or we will get physicalled/clatteredout of it.

He will probably have to rest Phillips and Rice at some point as they’re both on yellow cards.

You could play Mount slightly deeper and/or Henderson at some point too. I really like Rice and Phillips though, if one of them had Henderson’s range of passing, it would be very well balanced.

Defence wins championships in just about every sport.
