Because its about success , why limit yourself

Because if you have a manager thats not English you're admitting you don't have the quality within your country. Its actually a bit embarrassing.

When was the last time Italy, Spain, France, Holland or Germany had an overseas manager?

I have some fond memories of Sven's time but the manager should be from the country they're managing.

We don't have a plethora of great English managers as opposed to Germany who seem to have them coming out their arsehole

Some of the most knowledgeable people around are women we’ve seen on our screens in the past couple of days.

Strangely, seems to be much the same people who have an issue with women talking football and players kneeling.

Not sure it's as simple as that , we beat Panama, Tunisia, Sweden and Colombia on pens .

Lost twice to Belgium and Croatia when it mattered , we were favourites for that semi .

It was a very favourable run to the final, easiest world Cup run in my lifetime to a final for an England team at a world Cup and probably won't be as easy for a very long time

That's not deluded that's talking logically.

France as an example beat

Denmark
Uruguay
Argentina
Belgium
Croatia

Now compare and contrast

We may have been favourites v Croatia in the eyes of the media, not in the eyes of people who understand the game though

And thats our own fault, we shouldn't be allowed to just whack out the chequebook and spend millions on a Capello or a Sven- the onus should be on us to address the issues in our own game that have meant we have had no top class English managers, or at least address the issues that mean no English manager ever gets a chance in one of the huge jobs.

I'd say Italy are even better than Germany, best managers in the world. They are master tacticians.

Because they give them a chance. Premier League clubs would generally much rather go abroad than give a young English manager a chance.

Not sure I agree entirely.

Either way what's done is done .

They whacked Argentina in the group stage and came top, we just sneaked past Tunisia and got outplayed by Belgium.

History would suggest that England should never be favourites in tournament football whenever up against a decent footballing nation.

The Germans seem to be about the best these days I reckon.

I don't disagree about the state of out managers

So you agree then , getting to the semi final in 2018 was no great achievement by any stretch

Don't get me wrong, it can't be that there are none, but they just never break through.

I thought Eddie Howe was nailed on before Southgate got it- let him grow into the role and 'build a dynasty'.

The way the Premier League works though, the senior England players probably would have looked down on him

Do you not need to put the ball behind your head for throw ins now? The dutch right back literally takes the throw in from his forehead.

Gerrard is promising and lampard shouldn't be swept away after stuttering with Chelsea.

Clive Eakin would be going mad if he was doing commentary

I think they scrapped that rule?

So having seen our first game earlier, how do we match up against these two?

I think either of these two teams would suit us, it would be frenetic and fast and that would suit us I reckon. If we tried to be cautious we'd get beaten but if we cut loose I think we'd beat both of these, and it would be brilliant to watch.

This is game of the tournament so far for me

Netherlands should be ahead but Ukraine a threat on the break. Little bit more composure in the final third and they have a chance here

We would concede more I think, if a side goes for it against us there’s always goals to be had
