Very odd situation developing at Chelsea. Presumably the medical team must have been waved on by the ref and she wasn't the first one on, she was following the physio, but its now being reported that she won't be at games or training anymore.

On the face of it she's got a pretty good case for taking legal action.

Yes. I think we ought to start a petition and get her transfer here.

Forget a striker, let's sign a physio instead!

We want the players on the pitch, not give them more excuses to be in the physio's room

Hazard went down injured late in the game. Presumably the ref waved the medical team on as they aren't allowed on the pitch otherwise. She followed the physio onto the pitch, as she is supposed to. Mourinho had a tantrum as it meant Hazard had to come off the pitch. After the game he was going on about the medical staff not understanding the game, which as she has been punished and the male physio hasn't some are taking to be sexist.

As punishment she has been demoted and will "continue to be the first team doctor but now will only work from the club’s Cobham training base. She will not travel with the team to games, home or away, nor will she attend training sessions outside on the first team pitch at Cobham"

seems a bit excessive :thinking about:

surely if any medical person comes on, the player has to go off. I thought that was the rule?

Assuming the clubs website is up to date (which it isn't as it still has Macfarlane as assistant manager) we have a physio called Pauline Robertson. And because I know someone will ask here is a picture:

I really don't get Jose's game here. As mentioned it's the refs call, unless in exceptional circumstances so why he's using the physio and Doctor for his target for criticism makes no sense!

Also, it's only their club (in the main) that send a physio AND doctor on for every injury; that's a club decision.

She's been with us a while now; last season at least. She usually backs up the normal physio guy for unusual / non standard injuries, and then we have an older guy club doctor too.

Picnic? Picnic? Did someone mention picnic? I love those. All covered in chocolate! Mmmmm! Almost as good as Mars Bars! But I bet they've shrunk in size too!

From what I understand about the situation, Hazard went down and Mourinho is unhappy that the med crew went on at all as that action required Hazard to leave the pitch. It looks like Mourinho was more interested in having 10 players on the pitch (they'd already lost 1) at that time than protecting the health of one of his major stars.

Radio 5 had another female physio on this morning to discuss the issue and she pointed out that sometimes the medical crew have a different view of the injury and can make a completely different assessment of the injury from the Manager.

If It was a Champions League Game and he was trying to waste a couple of minutes near the end he'd be only too happy for the meds to go on.
How long was Hazard actually off the pitch for?
Makes you wonder If there Is another agenda going on here havent kept up with whole story but assume Swanxea must have scored while he was off the pitch.

I like Mourinho but he is badly wrong here. For a start she wasn't the first on the pitch and second HIS player went down and the ref waved them on. IF and only IF Hazard was fine and acting like he'd been shot then surely any anger from JM should be at his player. Physios and medical staff have a duty of care to provide on the spot support to injured players. Mourinho really lets himself down at times!

I can't say I saw the incident and have only heard third hand reports on it. I can't iimagine Mourinho attracting attention like this unless there is another side to the incident that we haven't heard. Maybe something was said after the incident that has made him target her specifically.

<edit> Have just seen a post match interview and a clip of the incident. Firstly, Eva was not the first to enter the field of play, she was second behind a male (the club doctor). And in his post match interview, Mourinho again does not single Eva out for criticism. He uses the term "medical staff" and "they".

Youtube clip : The footage is at 2:20

Jose Mourinho, the same guy who moaned that Hazard wasn't getting enough protection from referees. Gets the protection then moans again, I like the guy but he's got this one wrong.

Whether she is employed by Chelsea or not, as a doctor she has a duty of care for the players that go above and beyond the call of the manager who at the end of the day is just another employee of the club.

I think Hazard needs to accept some blame here for the play acting otherwise they wouldnt have come onto the pitch in the first place. Alot of managers have admitted to stopping their medical staff going over due to the fact that the player would be called off the pitch.

Looking at all of this, do you think it would have kicked off as much as it had if she was a swamp donkey? Is it the fact that she is fit that they are making an issue out of this?

Sure that's true but I think a lot of people take issue as a) they were called onto the pitch by the ref and b) she followed the male physio who hasn't received any punishment.

I do agree Hazard needs to take responsibility too, it then raises the question the Mourhino *knew* he was play acting which is another issue.

As to whether this story would be a high profile as if she wasnt an attractive female. The fact that she followed a male physio onto the pitch who hasnt been punished is a big issue, and also this is the first time a medical team have been publically critisized by a manager for something like this.

JM and hazard completely wrong here. They should hold their heads in shame. All too often we see time wasting tactics by managers and players. They should apologise to and reinstate the physio and apologise to the paying supporters who have to endure this. Of course tho it's premier league, it's Jose and fans and physics count for nothing.
