"Please note replies will not be given to applicants who do not meet the essential requirements of the job."
Really ?
"Please note replies will not be given to applicants who do not meet the essential requirements of the job."
Really ?
That’s common practice what’s the problem??
That is pretty common. It's like 14 year olds applying to be the next manager of their preferred football club. Why would an employer bother reading the application if it bares no relevance....
Little bit out of it since retirement.
But these days it costs nothing to just email the applicant with a standard dear John.
I can understand the silly applications but a lot of people will believe they match the criteria and not get a reply.
They may even phone up then, I would.
Unfortunately these days common curtesy is a thing of the past my good sir. In all fairness many companies still reply to their applicants but put it this way, it's not a shock if some don't as they simply don't have the time.
I take it that my application for Disabled rep is binned then as I have heard nothing ?
It's not just 'these days', James. I was out of work in the early '90s and was shocked at the number of job applications I made that didn't get a reply - not even an acknowledgement of receipt.Unfortunately these days common curtesy is a thing of the past my good sir. See I'm old school on this.Depending on how long ago you applied, highly likely.
Good to see Italia get in early to twist what seems to be a positive improvement to try and build a few more revenues.

Can't blindly follow poor practice 'for the sake' of the club.
It's a normal business practice to have these positions.
A bit like hygiene, it happens but there is no need to talk about it like it's special.
So what point are you trying to make?
It's a positive thing surely, yet you are scraping the barrel that people who don't match the criteria don't get a reply to go off on one.
That's a shame. Maybe it's more exposed now due to the amount of applications that are flying about these days. Employment has obviously always been competitive but these days it's a different kettle of fish. For an average executive position you can easily get north of 25+ people applying. Either way it's not excusable whether companies are failing to provide feedback/a standard response in the 90s or now.
So people who don't meet the essential requirements will be put off from applying in case they don't get a reply?
I can see where this thread is going...
No, the process is poor compared to what I see as the norm and it will put people off working for such employers.
I would say the perception of working for CCFC is poor and that needs to be improved to get the best candidates.
I do however like the case study process they are using.
No it wouldn't, it says essential requirements.
If I applied for something I don't meet the requirements it is wasting people's time.
I couldn't give 2 shits when applying for a job whether they reply if people don't meet the criteria, where I work now we have about 50 people from India apply for the job. Safe to say they don't get a reply.
The process for realistic candidates is fine, it's just saying in advance people may not get a reply if they don't meet the basics.
where I work now we have about 50 people from India apply for every job. Safe to say they don't get a reply.
I consider myself an ideal candidate for the disabled rep but have never received a reply on 3 occasions.
Do I want to work for these people ....... No
I've already withdrawn my application.
This thread is about an events executive isn't it?
Exactly.
Employers can help some applicants by just giving them some feedback.
Obviously just a standard dear John joint email to the obvious no chancers.
As I said I'm a little bit out of it but if thats the practice these days then it's a shame.
Exactly.
But theres nothing wrong in discussing the detail in the vacancy write up, surely?
The positives on this is that the club now realise they can get incomes other than match day revenues.
Previously it was stated that the club was solely relying on match day incomes and other incomes were not available.
As I've previously said, you can generate many incomes using CCFC brand be it away from the Ricoh or as appears to be happening by hiring facilities at the Ricoh.
The detail that people might not get a reply if they don't meet the basic requirements for the job? Basics to try and cut out timewasters.
Still wrong to me for the sake of copying an email address into an address line.
Some you can obviously just bin.
The essential criteria is subjective so a lot of potential good candidates will be waiting or checking their junk daily.
Clarified in the third line. You have just contradicted yourself in the first 2 lines. Shock.
Clarified in the third line.
