I'm the forums resident Everton fan.

If relegated Everton are screwed, Good players like Richerlson, Calvert-Lewin, Dacoure, Allan, Pickford will all go for a fraction of their value. Everton are in deep financial trouble and cant afford the loss in revenue from relegation.
At best Everton wont get points dedicated for breaking league rules, but wont have anything to invest in the team.
At worst looking at administration.

The players we will be left with are on high wages and possibly not even good enough for championship, likes of Holgate, Keane, Gbamin, a 35 year old Coleman, Rondon will struggle at championship level.
Nightmare in our house with the Mrs being a toffee. She was pretty bitter before but the red shite are being blamed for everything that’s gone wrong there. Sammy Lee and The Spanish waiter are names simply not mentioned in our house. Personally I would love them to stay up… a great historical club 💙🤍💙

where do things stand with their new stadium. are they already at a point of no return. Just thinking if they go down and don't bounce straight back up funding a new stadium could become a major issue

Stating Keane & Holgate are not championship standard is laughable.

Coleman is as blue as big Dunc so would happily take a pay cut & may well stay on in a coaching role.

Not seem Gbamin play (has anyone?). Poor blokes basically been crocked since signing 3 years ago. He makes Jody Jones look lucky.

Everton would be absolutely f*cked if they were relegated. Their current losses put them in real potential trouble with FFP and should they get relegated, I could see another potential Leeds x 100. The building of a new stadium would stop and the players they have, though there is a massive gap in quality compared to players in this league. They don't have the 'fight' over a full season in the Championship.

They've lost their 'real' backer in Usmanov due to the sanctions.

I do have a soft spot for Everton and have seen this coming for a couple of seasons. I have them at 20/1 to get relegated.

2017/2018

Everton - Spent £180+ million in the PL.
Coventry - League Two

Everton at the Ricoh would be a huge crowd.

Definitely a sell out.

Always liked Everton. A bit like Man City, a bit of success for them keeps their overly arrogant neighbours in their place.

They would desperately need to get promotion at the first attempt or they could be in serious trouble but how many players would stick around? A rebuild with potential FFP issues would not be easy.

It's as much they've been shockingly managed for the past few years too (I mean at board level). A club that's like that could really struggle to get it right, no matter how much cash they have to throw around on players.

Think they would. Although the ‘big’ players might go, the combined amount of money received plus the £50 million reward for being relegated would be plenty for a manager to go back up comfortably.

They've spent an inordinate amount of money over the years but people are focusing too heavily on their last set of accounts and not actually realising that the level of cost cutting being carried out at the club currently.

They've rid themselves of Walcott, Rodriguez, Bernard and Bolasie, sold Digne in January and in the summer will offload Tosun, Delph and Sigurdsson upon the expiry of their contracts. Van De Beek and El Ghazi will also return to their parent clubs.

If they were to go down, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, Kean and Pickford will be sold which could potentially generate anything between £120m-150m in fees, depending if you believe the reported asking prices being quoted. They'd equally save significant costs on their wages

Those with one year left on their contracts would either be loaned out, nominal fees received or agreements be made.

The Alli deal is an issue but there are ways and means around that.

Granted if they remained in the Championship for longer than a couple of seasons serious issues would inevitably arise for the obvious reasons but in the short term they'd probably be OK.

Don't forget they'd receive £45m in parachute payments as well.

The stadium situation would be precarious but there's already been indications about what they could do if they were to be relegated.

They've spent close to £500mil+ and find themselves where they are.

The issue they are struggling with at the moment is the wage bill. They have overpaid players on long contracts. They haven't been able to bring in new players is because they can't shift what they have.

That won't change if they were relegated. The same players would sit there on 100k p/w because no one in their right mind would pay them that elsewhere.

That is a fair point, the current batch of overpaid, underperforming players, their contracts are coming to an end. That's what has got them into this position but they look to be coming out the other side now.

It's an obligation to buy after a 2 year loan, not an option.

The guy is never fit anyway, god knows why Everton invested in him.

Of all the business they've done. I don't think Alli was a terrible decision as he was on a free.... until he plays 20 games (or something). Then they're on the hook for 15-20 million.

Oh fair enough I reading something the other day and it was discussing Kean being sent back to Everton and where his next destination could be (PSG), but it must've been completely wrong.

I think Alli was a dreadful signing personally. He's the absolute last person you'd want in the trenches with you if things got tough.

I don't believe Everton have pad Spurs a penny for Alli yet. It was probably worth a punt, bit of a free hit really, but he looks absolutely done at the top level. Not sure if it's an attitude thing or what, but it's some fall from grace.

I looked at the remaining fixture and have Leeds and Burnley on 36 PTS with Everton going down with 35 PTS . Personally I have as much sympathy for Everton as I do for Watford and Norwich, which is the same as they had for us when we nose dived down the divisions, ie fucking none . If you can't cut it good bye. And from what I've seen of richarlason lately he couldn't hit the ground if he fell over.

So all in all fuck um.

Sorry I didn't realise I was writing a feature article for the athletic, thought it was a post on a Coventry city fan forum about Everton.

I take it you don't watch Everton, so with regards to Holgate and Keane there certainly are concerns as to whether they would adjust and be up to standard in the championship.

Keane especially, as he's a confidence player and can shrivel up in games when things go against him.
He's also at his best when Everton play low block, he struggles when Everton try to push up and play higher up the pitch.

Not a question for me. But he’s a busted flush, career has stalled so much that it’s hard to see him do much better than he is now.

Seems to be a sad case really
Had a very difficult upbringing but with help from a team mate's kind family found stability and achieved great success at a very early age
Perhaps it was a case of too much too young
Word is he's not a bad lad
Would love to see him bounce back
