As you said earlier, he needs to impress in the Champions League to do that. His agency are clearly working in overdrive early doors to push for a move, if not in January, certainly for next summer.

It’s only sealed if someone’s willing to hit the clause, which is CL dependent. To be honest I’d back him to perform in those games regardless, but the incentive of a move will just add to thatIndeed. As stated, his performances in the CL will be catalyst that puts any prospect of a move to a top club into motion.
As a caveat to that, the wording of his comments re. the release clause and the fact his agency are already putting him out to market suggests to me his fate next summer is perhaps already sealed regardless.

I don't think so tbh, even now I think he represents value at his buy out clause. If he rips it up in the CL then he'd be a relative bargain at what, £65m or whatever it is.I'm playing devils advocate here but they might find themselves in a position where they have to compromise on the clause. Don't get me wrong if he rips it up in the CL this season then I suspect clubs will hit that.
But, fundamentally clubs like Sporting have literally survived on raising funds through transfer fees year on year and in and relative to their usual spend, they invested a significant amount on Gyokeres - which they'll want a return from, not only on the pitch but financially also.
Gyokeres next summer will be 27 and approaching the peak of his career.
If they do want a significant financial return on their investment, holding out for a club-record fee might not be all that realistic if the season doesn't pan out as perfectly as they might hope.
