Manchester City are eyeing a move for Sporting and Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres, 26, as a long-term replacement for Erling Haaland. (Sky Sport Switzerland, via Mirror)
Sounds like Amorim will end up at Man U so could see Viktor being pursued, maybe even in January

Yeah, this could actually have legs.

Zirkzee rumored to be leaving too. Hojlund is decent but Vik definitely improves them. If they are sensible they've got bigger issues, but they are Man Utd after all.

2 more goals for Vik last night including an exceptional free-kick. Incredible to believe he was ours just a couple of years ago and if we knew what he'd become, I think we'd have enjoyed him even more.

For those who think we've underperformed since his departure, then it continues to demonstrate that he's incredibly difficult to replace. The flip side to that argument is were we ever really that good but were luck to have a couple of excellent players at the same time as a generational talent papering over the cracks.

Either way we were incredibly fortunate to have had him in our side and get as much satisfaction and sense of pride that he's doing it on the big stage as I do with own academy players in Wilson and Maddison.

Brighton must be thinking if only they had kept him.

Tbf was very raw and despite his potential it was difficult to spot what he'd become a couple of years later with us. It was clearly always in there, but before we signed him permanently, it was still a risk . Look how many of our own fans had seen him at that level below and still weren't convinced.

I was just a bit surprised they were not a bit more patient with him. Have to admit though when he joined us on loan he didn't look that good till near the end of the season .

Perhaps it will help a few on here make sure they listen to Mark Robins when he talks about the quality our players have ! He sees them pretty much most days, he was great talking about Vic when he had him here on loan and was clearly instrumental in signing him....
Hopefully he shows Simms and Wright some videos of when Vic first came here and they realise they are actually pretty good themselves .... and can get better 🤞 🤞 :)

Vik scored a typical trademark goal in the CL last week turned his marker on the half way like and his strength and pace were too much for trailing defenders & keeper .

Well…you say that but I saw something, possibly from here, that talked about how, apart from at Swansea, Vik has been the best player in every team he’s played at, even a junior levels/reserves.
Apparently he was part of the same cohort at Brighton as Macalister et al but didn’t have the same pedigree as the others. Crazy as it sounds the suggestion was that because of this lack of pedigree Brighton coaches didn’t believe he was as good as he appeared…”he can’t be that good or someone else would’ve had him”. Possibly this was confirmed for them by his poor stint at Swansea.
Either way, arguably one of our most important ever signings.

We will never see a player like Gyokeres in sky blue again genuinely will turn out to be the best player we’ve seen feature in a city shirt, its funny to see these articles praising Amorim for turning him into this which granted he’s made progress but look at all the work Robins did with him a lot of his game is similar to when he was here still,

The fact he’s that good even though he’s not here anymore he makes Simms and Haji Wright 2 20 goal a season strikers to some of the forum look shite sometimes

Vik scored again. 17th of the season in all comps for sporting and 3 for Sweden so 20 already for the season. Love it!
