Family zone ticket exchange (7 Viewers)

Honestly I get where Doug is coming from here, He got absolutely battered in to extending the family zone last season allowing a lot of cheap adult tickets to be sold and a lot of seats locked out at £50 which is bloody cheap. On top of this people don't turn up which reduces the amount made through the food and beverage tills. 1/3rd of tickets not being used is frankly taking the piss.
How much money do the club make from food and beverage in the family stand ?

It's not just the family area where season ticket holders aren't turning up . There are vast areas of the north stand in general where ticket holders aren't showing up even for bigger matches .
Going on holiday is a privilege , not a right . Lots of families go on holiday in August and buy a season ticket knowing full well they may miss a match during the summer holidays. Still they shell out for a ticket though. Perhaps they should consider the consequences of this move by the club before shelling out .

Invalid argument. Season ticket holders outside of the FZ aren't depriving other people of discounted tickets.

"You can buy a season ticket thank you very much but be warned you WILL attend or else your ticket will be taken away, without refund, and you will be banned from buying a season ticket next time round as a punishment"

We're not exactly crying out for a bigger stadium are we?
.
I was 50/50 as to whether I should renew having missed a number of matches but given this " threat" I'm happy not to bother .

Sooner or later this will be extended to the entire home areas.
Very poor customer relations to threaten to take peoples season ticket away.
Not everything revolves around money and short term thinking!!!!

How much revenue have the club lost 23/24 in that family corner then ?

The club clearly think they can make more money from this then the customers that they will lose. There must be a long waiting list.

Think most clubs don't allow ticket exchange unless its a sell out so maybe they'll start it with the family zone and then we've got the infrastructure ready to go if / when the rest of the ground sells out
Absolutely. They're using this as a trial. It will inevitably apply to the whole ground.

How if they are all sold?
Exactly the point I was making . Perhaps they forsee being able to sell as many tickets twice over as they can.

1/3 don’t turn up which could be sold to families who actually go. Including kids who will grow up to support us

They still have the revenue - you said they weren’t - it’s rubbish

We all know there are adults who have abused the FZ price but this isn’t punishing them. It has the potential to punish genuine families who can’t attend midweek games because it’s too late for young kids.

I may be wrong but I’d fully expect the early bird price to have expired before Sky have made their initial picks of games so it’s not even like you have any idea of the number of games that will fall midweek.

Pete said on another post Doug never floated this idea at recent fans forums. He’s got it wrong and I hope he’ll be big enough to rectify the decision.

Personally I think setting the price of an adult and child at the same price as a standard adult would have made more sense but at the very least I think non Saturday 15.00 fixtures should be excluded from the non attendance count.

Do you think it stops here or a creeping formula?

On a separate point entirely I think a bit shameful really I'm old school and it's the commodification of children at the end of the day!

How many kids will be able to attend that many midweek games ? Not surprised at all by these statistics . I wonder how many Saturday matches are actually missed compared to midweek matches. I doubt it's anywhere near 1/3 and the club would know.
Loads will miss matches in August because they're on holiday, whatever the penalty.

So it seems that not having a ST is the best option.

But season tickets should be available for ALL fans, not just ones who can make 23 games on whatever day and time they take place

not sure how anyone can laud this idea

1) you buy a season ticket, that’s your ticket for the season. you’ve bought into the process and adding funds to the club. what you do with that ticket is your prerogative

2) ticket exchange only works if the cbs is sold out week on week which it won’t be while still in the championship. even the games where we ‘sold out’ there were tickets available the day before.

3) Doug was happy to take money and not worry about non attendance after the United game was announced. many bought tickets just for points and not bother with the game (Ipswich and hull games prime example)

Don't Man United have a three-strikes-and-your'e-out initiative to do with missing matches? That could even be for away season ticket holders I guess.
I can understand it for a club like that but not us..

I wonder what will happen if you can't attend, let's say, a midweek game with an expected turn out of no more than 23k.
You inform the club accordingly. The club fails to sell your ticket (s).
Does that count towards your three strikes? Do the club inform you the ticket was sold or not ?
No one wanted your seat and therefore you haven't deprived anyone else .
But as a season ticket holder you need to know where you stand .

united are bringing a QR code system in which means the QR code changes every 10 mins. means you can’t forward to friends proper the match. the ticket exchange system for United means the club resale the ticket for 4 x the value. thats when you see so many ‘tourists’ at the big clubs now. prices out the normal fan

Disgusting if they are selling them at x4 the price. Resell them at face value, fair enough, but don’t rip people off. At clubs where they sell out every week, the system of reselling tickets of people who can’t make the game is fair enough.

Just feels like we’re trying to be bigger than we actually are which is slightly embarrassing. Also smacks of the club not caring about the fans and just wanting to make as much money as possible.

not to single you out as loads of people are saying similar but why are people talking like this? Nobody is being barred from buying a season ticket. its just one part of the ground which is massively discounted and half empty every game despite being sold out

If for some odd reason people want to buy season tickets and only turn up less than 10 times a season then they're absolutely free to do so anywhere else in the ground

doesn't say anything about them having to sell. you place them on the exchange and thats your part done
if fans are unable to attend then they must put their tickets on the Ticket Exchange
I'm not buying the idea that this is outrageous because kids can't go on school night. If you'd missed every single game that was on a school night this season, which everyone refers to as the worst season we've ever had for fixture scheduling, you still wouldn't be near the point that anything is going to happen

Obviously it won’t count as one of your 3 strikes, come on.

“if fans are unable to attend then they must put their tickets on the Ticket Exchange. Failure to do this on 3 occasions or more will result in your Season Ticket being revoked for the remainder of the season”

The requirement is just to put them on there, not for them to sell.

Just charge the family zone more and stop with all the extra rules being put on that area of the ground

I get it but I wonder if they are really that bothered about reselling your seats if your season ticket is revoked for the rest of the season ?
Is it a punishment exercise or a genuine effort to fill the stadium and gain extra revenue from the resale?
If the latter, they need to arrange a waiting list of families who miss out on a season ticket in that area. If they don't do this they're not that bothered.

And will the club be doing this or will it be a third party ?
