mixed thoughts really.... so in no particular order

I think the SBA do us proud at away games - great support for the team

I also think at times Block 15 do us proud too - but of late seem to be a little quieter. However that area is far more vocal than any other area at the Ricoh. There is a small section in the CT stand behind the goal, but generally the rest of the ground comes over negatively to me.

Just personal opinion but I prefer the SISU out chants to be before or at the end of the game - during the game is for the team and they desperately need our support. Not saying fans shouldnt make their message loud and clear, it is just the timing. But my preference isnt an issue for me either...... the match is the only real time that the fans frustration with SISU etc can be made to be heard..... and it should be heard

Negativity of the fans. Now we all know these are tough times, that the team isnt doing so great, but there is a group of 5 or 6 sitting a couple of rows behind me that frankly beggar belief yet call themselves supporters. I use that word on purpose because it implies some element of positivity - I have not heard any such element from them all season. I wouldnt mind but it isnt even realistic, screaming at a player for not getting to a ball 20yds away before an opponent who was 5 yards away from it doesnt help, it isnt even achievable! but it goes on and on and on. Will be honest it has got so ridiculous that my lad and i take turns at guessing their next comment ("rubbish" usually) ..... we just have to laugh because it is so ridiculous. Trouble is such folk tend to be loud and my right ear aches after a match. Cant be sure but one sounds very similar to a certain CWR contributor. Still i suppose they are entitled to their opinion as am I just wish they would have a little consideration for those around them when they scream it !

Christine - can see where she was coming from, disagreed with chunks of it - but it was only her opinion to which she was entitled. Booing the team doesnt help but then again we pay good money to see them perform ..... 1st half saturday they didnt perform how else do we make them know ? Wouldnt do it myself but I can understand why

Saturday the club encouraged a lot of schools to attend. That I applaud. They are the future of this club and everything that can be done should be done. My lads club was offered a special but when you did the maths it just didnt stack up (£22 per adult £10 per child didnt seem so special to me). If they want to really get that interest especially when there are so many empty seats really slash prices get the ground fuller ... dont tinker with the price go for it!

There was on Saturday a group of Swedish (I think) students in front of us. Apart from improving the scenery (sorry thats chauvanistic and stereotypical i know) they really got into the match second half. Lots of clapping cheering standing and jumping up and down with excitement (second half). I know they havent been worn down by being long term CCFC supporting but that to me was a positive way to support the team. Well done and come back anytime

The team needs our fans. Yes everyone is entitled to an opinion but do you really think claiming Cameron to be the worst player on the pitch not even non league standard after 2 minutes of the game helps???. If we are all so negative, so timid to support, but vocal to criticise for 90 minutes do we not set up an self fulfilling atmosphere at the Ricoh ? Focus on the errors the mistakes, generate a negative atmosphere and you develop players scared to play and increase the odds of losing. At least give players a chance to gain some much needed confidence and belief by providing some positive support once in a while !

The travelling SBA and our new Swedish fans have the right idea - sure that they have opinions, sure they will at times be negative in their assessment but most times they are positive in their support !

I am off to buy my ear plugs ...... only another 6 months of the muppets sitting behind me !

Just my opinion :D

I think a lot of the fans negativity is down to be spoilt with high quality football on the tele every week. We watch the likes of man u, Chelsea, arsenal, barca etc and expect our team to be able to do the same. Great passing an scoring wonder goals.

We are not that good and if we were and could play football like the best teams in Europe, we would be one of the best teams in Europe and not be where we are.

It costs a lot of money to get to that standard, of which we have none and every team in the country strives to get there. Our league position reflects the amount of investment put into the team

I agree too, the team does play some good football at times for periods, it's just a shame that there hasn't been much opportunity for a settled lineup and the squad depth isn't ideal to cover injuries either. The loss of quality players from the last season, with little to no option or backing to replace them has played a massive factor so far. I do get a feeling that things will click sooner rather than later.

I believe the noise in b15 has decreased because as of many regions around the ground, the number has lowered by a fair amount.

oldskyblue don't know about the muppets behind you but at the burnley game there were too old boys in front of me that looked and sounded like statler and waldorf off of the muppets.they moaned about everything;)

Maybe because of the following

The football is dire (Nothing to cheer about)
Fans who used to generate noise no longer go.
Away fans are now further away from the 'Naughty' corner.

All the above are a major factor. I can seriously count on both hands how many times i've left the ricoh thinking that was a great day and the atmosphere was superb. Hopefully West Ham bringing over 6k will help generate the atmosphere.

I think there is a certain 'tribal' instinct in supporters of a younger generation. Those away fans can be counted among them. It's not a criticism but I remember the days of old and the 'West End' full of the chanting 'youth' supporter.
The problem today and as beautiful as the stadium is,there is lack of atmosphere because we have lost that 'tribal' element and seem to have two areas where chanting support comes from and with it split from under the scoreboard and the stand behind the goal it's lost it's effectiveness.
I'm no supporter of 'standing' at stadiums but would look at it again for those 'tribal' supporters that would gather behind a goal and support there football club. That's the atmosphere they want and the ideal situation for fans to gather in. Would it be so hard for the middle sections of a stand to be segregated into standing areas for the so called Sky Blue Army of supporters?
Even if something was done to accumulate them all in there (with seats) they would be more effective surely?

On the moaners in seats around you block 15 or where ever: Today people have a sense of entitlement and that includes immediate success on the pitch....even within two minutes! It's hard to ignore but media driven frenzied society does not help. It's become endemic in our society to such an extent nowadays. The tragic M5 crash never got off the news screens for days on end with details totally unrelated.
That media frenzy now leads the police to the rugby club to find a scape goat.
What have we become as a society is where the answer lies to most of today's ills, including pathetic individuals in seats behind you and authoritive decisions such as the poppy scandal on an England shirt. How really all pathetic we have become, particularly in this country.

Rant over!

Yes, I think a lot of younger fans are really missing out on the standing thing. Now I'm in my mid-40s with a five-year-old I don't think I would stand up to be honest but back in the day in the late 70s and through the 80s it was great. It could be scary though, a near miss or a go would send you surging along with the rest of the crowd down towards the pitch. Brilliant days.

Don't always agree with your views , paxman, but there is a lot of truth in your post.

OSB- sadly, the negative and abusive ones are usually the most vociferous. This has a knock on affect to those around them, in that they feel disinclined to cheer the team on. For me, such abuse has ruined my enjoyment of going, so this season I did not renew our season tickets ( a five year old granddaughter included).

No matter where we sit, there always seems to be someone nearby, whose behaviour should not be exposed to impressionable youngsters. We are all entitled to our opinions, but they should be expressed with consideration to those around. I wonder if some people realise how intimidating they can be, and the impact they are having on our support?

made some great points Paxman - dont agree we have all become pathetic - but great points non the less

Perhaps it is an age thing but i dont feel it should be. Certainly the muppets behind where i sit in the CT stand are made up of three older than me. Partly it is bourne out of frustration at the club but i would guess they are like that about most things.

My lad would love to stand all match is itching to do that but at 14 he is better placed to take the knocks in the crowd if he were able to have standing as an option. And I think there should be that option

I think you are right BSB the attitude of some does affect how others behave. But i doubt they realise how they affect others or care

Its the Main Stand negativity. Its spread! I sat in the main stand once (it was an FA cup match so we thought we'd try it out being West Terracers). We were, i believe, playing Macclesfield and we won! Huckerby scoring his second hattrick in two matches. The fella behind me had a rather interesting summary of it all...

"The worst 7-1 win I've ever seen"

Brilliant!

No offence former Main Standers!

Ha ha brilliant, you can summerise cant you HR vs Ricoh seating plans.

West Terrace = Block 15 bunch - loud and vocal - always
East Stand = CET Stand - Joins in when the chats and songs are going
Main stand = Tesco stand - Claps thats it, singing/chanting is off limits
