Just googled it - had forgotten the sequence of scoring. No wonder we enjoyed it.

0 : 1
John Ryan
0 : 2
Kevin Reeves
0 : 3
Martin Peters
1 : 3
Barry Powell
2 : 3
Ian Wallace
2 : 4
Kevin Reeves
3 : 4
Ray Gooding
4 : 4
Bobby McDonald.
5 : 4
Ray Graydon
I must admit I hadn't remembered we were 3 0 and 4 2 down. We had no fit central defenders and I think we played Roberts and Yorath there with Beck at right back. We had no choice but to attack. I remember the Wallace and Mcdonald goals and their saved penalty.

The next match, 3 0 against Man U was great too. Still no fit central defenders. Remember Yorath's goal when he ran the length of the pitch. This was when Ferguson and Wallace were so strong for us. Great early memories there.

Other great matches mentioned above:

3 2 v Arsenal - possibly best team performance I have seen
3 2 v Man U with the Huckerby goal
3 0 v Villa - best atmosphere ever apart from the FA Cup semi final
4 3 v Spurs

On a side note, I see Stoke are at home to Spurs tonight in the Carabao and then play us at St A on Saturday, is this right???

If so, they'll be well fecked and also have several players out injured. Covid outbreak excuse anyone????

Not my favourite, but I remember one, I think against Sunderland. Draw and not great, but I remember Dublin getting sent off for something right at the side of the pitch. Think that was festive period.
I remember us beating Sunderland 2 1 in terrible conditions around festive time and playing really well. Bizarrely a couple of players I didn't rate at all played really well that night, Ashley Grimes and Graham Withey.

The old Division 2: Season 1965-66 - Highfield Rd - January 1st 1966: Coventry City 5 v Preston North End 1.
Ray Pointer playing only his 3rd game scored a hat-trick with George Hudson and George Curtis adding the other two.
A snow covered pitch and very bright orange ball. 3rd place finish that season.
Perfect start to a New Year - Here's hoping.

I think the Wolves game where Westie saved the pen from Ebanks-Blake was boxing day wasn't it? One of my top Ricoh moments.

Turns out it was Feb. Just felt like Xmas!

I'm no oil painting but fuck me, man for man that was the ugliest away support I've ever seen at a football game.

Looked like the auditions for bone tomahawk

Can remember that Arsenal game vividly despite only being 6. I remember having a giggle because David Seaman almost slid into the post. McDonalds Family stand massive.

My favourite Christmas was beating Villa 3-0 and Liverpool 5-1 before selling Rosario

My mate got taken out of the ground from the west terrace for celebrating on the wall. Police fingerprinted him and made his dad pick him up. We’d gone for drinks with a teacher who was a Liverpool fan. Such fun

Not my favourite , but we had Swansea away Boxing Day few years back , was fine Christmas Day , woke up Boxing Day full of cold and felt crap , went all the way to Swansea to watch the worst 0-0 ever, not an enjoyable day

My Xmas memory happened 36 years ago today. We were away at Filbert Street. Crap game. Lost 5-1. Afterwards, although we could literally see our car where it was parked, the police outside the ground wouldn't let us go to it, they herded us all around the ground with the rest of the City fans.

My main memory though is Bobby Gould who, for some reason, ran into the pitch from the touchline, flailing his arms everywhere. Something upset him. Never found out what though.

I remember a dreadful Boxing Day 0-0 against Middlesbrough at HR too. 81, 82 maybe.

Was this the game that kicked off about 11.30 on a Sunday? That day was absolute madness.

Yes, that was the one. Made the day even weirder.

Thete was so much trouble that day. If the early kick.off was suppos3d to prevent it Christ knows what would have happened if it had been 3pm Saturday.
Big London mob turned up, Chelsea if I remember correctly just to add some spice to proceedings

Yes, I remember a lot of trouble. Have a memory of being behind the goal really close to the home fans with just a fence between us. They were throwing coins at us all the way through.

There was all sorts getting thrown. From both sides and at the police down.
the front.
Went over on the Midland red, never felt so happy to get on a bus when I finally got on one to take me home

got to be 5-1 v liverpool

but away win at Everton ran it close

not just the score but took a young disabled lad an Everton fan - had prearranged parking and Police had it all in hand we were only 50 yards from gate. inside players came and chatted presented him with a shirt. shame about the result I lie - but i was v happy

even watching from the home end

wonderful memory - pity the grey clls cant remember year- any one ?2001

Remember queueing outside the HR ticket office in the freezing cold the day before we played Middlesbrough in the 90s, the queue was so big club staff brought out hot chocolate for everyone. No idea what the eventual match was like but that was always a nice memory
97, after the aforementioned Leeds game. Won 3-0. You're right there was a big Xmas walk up as you used to get

My first ever game was at Highfield road against Villa on Boxing Day. Absolutely battered them. I thought it was always like that.

Chris Marsden ran the show from midfield. He had everything but pace.
And was still 100 times better than Sandy Robertson who we bought instead as we haggled over the price and Wolves snapped him up. I know he subsequently suffered with injuries but eventually settled at Southampton, not sure what happened to Robertson & can't remember him playing much for us.

That wasn't the correct scoring sequence for the Norwich match. It was
1-0
2-0
2-1
2-2
2-3
3-3
4-3
4-4
5-4
Sorry to be a pedant!
