Fixture clashes.... (1 Viewer)

Annoying when the football fixtures came out some time ago. Surely the Rugby fixture bods could have entered these clashes into their system and got the fixtures reversed.

Exactly. Wasps only have to fit in 11 home games with all the free dates at the Ricoh. To have a third of their fixtures clashing is ridiculous.

It’s either an incredible level of incompetence from Wasps and whoever arranges the rugby fixtures or it’s been done deliberately.

They said they wanted more Saturday games - of course it’s deliberate

I think the fair thing to do is us play our games as normal and Wasps can play the clash dates in London where they fucking belong.
Either that or have them kick off around 8am to give us chance to repair all the divots after their game has finished.

Seems only fair.

Most definitely. They won't want to play on a Saturday immediately after a CCFC game as those people or traitors who attend both may not bother with the 2nd game.

They won't want to play on a Friday night due to the number of fans they have coming in from elsewhere, and the fact that the free tickets to school kids are less likely to be used!

Thoroughly enjoyed the Friday night Football at the Ricoh last year. I wouldn't be too disappointed if we end up playing these games on the Friday

Traitors? You'll be constructing a gallows next

Calm down. They will move them to Sunday like they have done every other year.
Their games or ours?

Pretty sure our gates were lower and playing on a Sunday was a reason people were giving that they couldn't attend, when we got moved last season.

me too, but not convenient for a lot of people so wouldn't really be fair. The odd one is OK but I think 3 in a six/seven week period is too much.

If they intend to play them on Sundays then why announce them for Saturdays?

You would have though given the piss poor state of the pitch since Wasps turned up they would arrange the fixtures so there was only one game at the Ricoh every weekend. Its hardly rocket science to ensure there's no clashes.

Glad I didn't get a season ticket after today. Friday night matches impossible for those of us who don't live near Coventry, in my case trying to get from Dudley in Friday rush hour traffic. Selling McNulty too is a kick in the head.
This wil lose the club a few hundred fans x their £20+ for each match, many tens of thousands in total.

Dudley is down the road.

Is this when people who had no intention of getting a season ticket now say this is why?

It happens every year and within a few days the clashes see the rugby moved to Sunday by Wasps..
Keep moaning though if it helps.

I'll ask you the same question again seeing as you didn't answer. If they intend to move the games to Sundays why announce them for Saturdays?

Our fixtures came out weeks ago, its not like its taken them by surprise.

I have already outlined my reasons for not getting a season ticket and evening matches is one factor in putting me off. On a Friday night with the M5 by Oldbury roadworks it is gridlock every week. It took a colleague 2 hours to get to Luton midweek match and he missed the whole first half. After work I cannot face such a stressful journey, too old for that now. It's supposed to be a leisure activity not an endurance test. As you get older you might understand but I owe the club nothing. They owe their fans not the other way round.

Every club plays evening matches, it isn't unique.

Let's not start trying to make big moral statements as if you are hero for not getting one because of the potential of games in the evening and McNulty going... It's like me saying after the recent news I'm not going to go caving.

Completely understandable if you work and get to games, its not new news that games will be in the evening and if a player and his agent forcing a move stops you from going, thats a bit random.

For gawd's sake. There was no big moral statement. What a twisted perspective. I can't even figure out how you can interpret my reasonable annoyance with
1) Too many evening games ... my opinion, I am entitled to hold it.
2) selling one of our best players.
... as a big moral statement?

I guess they can't take into account every local happening, so the fixtures are published and then adjustments are made.
You do know this happens every year and then Wasps (and others) make local adjustments don't you ?
As is said it's not a problem we should worry about.

As for McNulty, he's been offered Championship wages, what did you think would happen?
A kick in the teeth would have been letting him go to a league one rival, this is just the way of the world.

Every local happening? Not sure why that's relevant. We're referring to 23 home games the dates for which were announced weeks ago.

You seem to be promoting the idea that Wasps operate the Ricoh with such staggering levels of incompetence that they don't know the 23 dates we are scheduled to be playing there but will then realise their error in the next few days and make changes.

So once again I'll ask you the same question and see if you answer. If they intend to move the games to Sundays why announce them for Saturdays?

Not really bothered about this as it always gets sorted.
I don't think the Rugby authorities get involved in this other than ask for a preference of day played.
I noticed they have also avoided CRFC league games which is probably more important.
However perhaps Wasps are losing patience with Sisu and stretching the point this year where they appear to be publishing posters.
Fortunately they do have a good relationship with CCFC management and hopefully this will not become an extended issue.
