Football Fun Day at the Ricoh (2 Viewers)

My idea for a protest. Tournament at the Ricoh for kids football, could use the pitch or the exhibition hall. Sky Blue Trust out in force - selling their message positive propaganda using the Ricoh for what it was intended for - football !! try to get in some football celebs to back it - the former players association, is Jimmy Hill too ill but that would be a major coup.

Invite a team from Walsall etc..

I'm sure ACL would support it. Its only a basic idea but there is no risk of violence etc.. like a protest if hijacked by the lunatic fringe. Just an idea.

Remember the ACL and Council are owned by the tax payers (Us) and so is 50% of the stadium. When has it been a taboo to have fun day in a stadium that the people of Coventry have funded.

I just don't get why some people are targeting ACL/CCC. Are they that happy to see SISU under the disguise of CCFC to come in and raid your coffers... That is what they have attempted to do.

The fact that they have not paid the rent which they owe to us the tax payers, we will end up making up for the shortfall. Also if SISU had succeeded in putting ACL/Higgs into administration and at the same time getting on the stadium on the cheap, it would have been a massive lost of investment to the tax and rate payers in the City of Coventry. It would be the residents of Coventry taking the biggest hit financially.

Personally wished we had stayed at Highfield but the Ricoh is the new home, that's where I now expect to watch and more importantly prepared to pay and watch cov at home.

I didn't really get it from anywhere. I think it's obvious from reading forums, websites, FB & Twitter that a growing number of fans are starting to realise that ACL & the council are not blameless in the overall shambles.

Edgy, you used to be a decent poster. You can't blame all this shit on the council/ACL for the small part they have played in this disaster. They made a deal that helped their company, it was agreed and adhered to for some time. When challenged they reduced the terms dramatically to help out. In the meantime SISU have tore the club limb from limb leaving it valueless as every good hedge fund does when its out to strip down assets. Blamewise you are looking at 90% SISU and 10% ACL and most of the fans acknowledge this !!

ACL & CCC are not blameless in rescuing the deal to build the ground from the financially embarrassed CCFC, they took advantage with a very high rent not linked to whether the club was in the championship or not. SISU had their chances to negotiate this when taking over, its the second biggest expense after player's wages, but they chose not to.

To have the right impact this event would need to be at the Ricoh as we are stating that is where we the fans want to be. Otherwise it is just a random event.

Maybe you have a point ... but like I said why should setting up a fun day at the Ricoh mean they are taking sides... 50% of the Ricoh (ACL/CCC) is owned by the rate payers and they have every right to use it. I can't see ACL having any rights to object the local community ... if they do, they will need to be reminded of this be it by votes or protests.

Agree with that and though Edgy makes a very valid point, I don't believe it would be showing support to ACL/council if it was managed in the right way.

It should simply be about where we want the City to play.

All sides should surely want that at the end of the day shouldn't they? Obstacles of course, but Sisu would be happy to stay themselves if the revenue streams could be sorted out.

Ash, I'm not arguing any of that. Apart from the percentages in your last statement where you seem to have missed out, Richardson, McGinity & Co!

I just will not accept how some place the whole problem at SISU's door. Yes, they have fucked up but there are others who have contributed to the mess and they should'nt escape scrutiny and blame.

I think if folk can accept this than as a group of fans we can move forward together and stop bickering. That's the stance of most on GMK. We all want a better club but for that to truely happen, all those responsible for the mess (no matter how small) have to be held accounbtable.

I'm totally in agreement about SISU's predecessors, we all know they bought into a nail and its not all their fault. However they have made things a hell of a lot worse and if they had got their stance right with the stadium company from the start I doubt they could have tried to shift the blame. I think we all also know that their attempt to distress ACL was immoral and unethical and has made it untenable for them to continue in most fans minds. I'll re adjust the blame chart though to 50% Inherited, 40% SISU and 10% ACL to be more clear !

Claiming housing grant will be siding with the council
or
Living in a council house will be siding with the council

As a tax payer I enquired about a room at the Ricoh for a kid's party. I was told it would be £500 - £700 for a couple of hours but there was no room for a bouncy castle.

I wouldn't say that was community based and I can't think of anything that is up there unless it is the gambler community.

I can't see how it is a resource, maybe when there was a gym there but unless the normal person wants to go to the casino on a non match / concert day then there is no need to go there.
