I'm there for a couple of pints, watch the game and to hopefully sing a few songs.

If I wanted fake US style fun and by a foam finger and go and watch the Blaze.

I remember going to an NBA game and every single break in play they were doing something to either hold your attention or try to take your money, found it all a bit much. Get the song on before kickoff, at half time put a video on the scoreboard and have someone fall on their arse trying to kick it for a ticket, that'll do

Agreed. The football is the entertainment. Fuck all this Americanised crap.

I did really enjoy the Bristol City half time entertainment of a race to roll two giant apples down the pitch to be fair

Festa had / have all the forced pre match and happy clappers. Probably the worst atmosphere in the championship last season. As soon as the game starts and the big flags go down nobody knows what to do / sing /chant.
Doing something as a one off, fine but not for every game.

I really don't need to see the crowd becoming the thing - shots of Dad's dancing at the CBS, the Mad Hatters desperately looking for more attention, kiss your wife for the cameras type of thing, cannons launching t-shirts into the crowd, 'raise the noise' super fans.

Total Americanized nonsense (apart from the Mad Hatters) and synthetic.

It's bad enough already with tiktokers more bothered about recording celebrations for channels than being in the moment. No mas.

She changes it up, check this one out

Melbourne United basketball do loads of cool things with their sponsors, when the other team get 2 free throws they have these clappers that everyone has and basically the PR bloke shouts out if they miss their two shots the food sponsor ‘for example Burger King’ will give you a free burger if you go in and show your ticket after the game so then everyone goes crazy with the clappers to put the player off lol. Quite funny and not very sportsman like but it’s hilarious to watch as the fans go crazy if they miss cause they win free burgers

With people complaining about the price, could we not offer more entertainment to make it more of an experience that you don’t get from watching from the comfort of your own home? With Sky Sports + now showing more games could it be that it just doesn’t beat the experience live and offering the fan a greater experience?

I’ve thought long and hard about it and this is the worst take I’ve ever seen on this forum. Everything you describe here is fucking vile and I think I’d have to give up my season ticket for fear of dying of embarrassment for the club.

‘Fans go crazy if they miss and win free burgers’

Get a pint, have a piss, chat to your mate about the first half, get back to your seat.

Haha knew that one would lose a few people.

Wait till you hear this one…

They have a t shirt cannon that they fire out club jerseys into the crowd during the break.

Obviously not everything people in the UK will like but it’s entertaining. Might not be your cup of tea but think of the kids.

Is Sky Blue Sam really doing enough walking round and waving or could he be walking round with a t shirt cannon firing shirts into the family stand or even kicking footballs into the stand for the kids. For the kids that would be really entertaining for them which sometimes half time can be very boring watching the subs warm up. I could imagine lots of kids begging for them to take them to watch Cov on a weekend if we made it a better live experience.

It’s about attracting the fans of tomorrow and keeping them so they don’t follow a Man City or the likes

Just thought I’d share with you something that happened last week at the Melbourne Victory game.

Occasionally I go watch Melbourne United basketball and there’s sooo much entertainment outside of just the match itself that makes it so appealing to go see it live that you go for the experience.

Could you imagine this at a packed CBS arena?

I hear live and die in these towns when I stream the games but I’m just a bit like merhhhh… maybe it’s different when you are there but it seems a bit repetitive

We would have (Rightly) slaughtered Wasps for doing anything like this

There is plenty going on outside of the East Stand on matchdays now and the FZ is more than enough to keep kids occupied

i like the idea of a car in the corner of the pitch with the boot open and if you kick the ball from the D into the boot you win the car or maybe a crossbar challenge and you win the executive package.
that's a bit of a jump from kick it for a ticket...

are we really in the tiktok endgame already where people can't survive for 15 mins without some form of entertainment feeding their eyeballs? Have a chat with the people you're sitting with!

You do realise it’s about attracting the next generation of fans yeah. Making them want to go and watch Cov play over other clubs like Villa. I grew up with lots of people supporting Villa nearby or the glory Man Utd fans in my era.

Don’t know what it’s like now but in the past it was a very male dominated crowd, you go other countries and there’s lots of females also go. with the growth we are seeing in todays society with female football we want it to be a day out so hopefully those young girls then want to either go and play football as they get older or still support a team.

It’s a business at the end of the day, and the more bums on seats the better for the club. Shame you can’t see the opportunity, not all of it I agree with but there’s more that can be done to improve the experience to want to go and experience it live more often with their weekends.

England is just full of miserable cunts. Any opportunity to whinge yet don’t wanna do anything to change the experience and shut down any suggestion

I guess there's an argument that having entertaining stuff on the pitch at half time actually costs you money twice - first to stage it and then in lost food & drink sales underneath. I wonder if there's not really an incentive to improve half time much - but maybe pre-post match if it gets people in & purchasing more earlier.

By the way I have no idea what the club sees of that food & drink revenue... I can't remember if the details of the lease include that.

We don't need it though? Highest attendances for god knows how long, season tickets sold out, family zone sold out, home fan capacity increased, safe standing introduced, new "traditions" (WLADITT, Milan doing his thing). Club shop has been completely overhauled, retro shirts selling out in hours, more & better social media output, meet the players events.

Seems like a solution to a non-existent problem.

Or it's full of people who hate the fake plastic happy clappy bullshit that pervades all of American culture. Maybe we could have stadium greeters too, shake the hand of everyone who comes through a turnstile and give a hearty "Play Up Sky Blues" while doing the Milan fist pump, that'll entice the next generation in for sure.

There are plenty of things being done to change the experience already, like getting fans behind both goals and safe standing. Things that will actually improve the atmosphere and make a difference on matchday.

The trouble is you have not got a clue about what it is like now. There are lots of women young and old, plus lots of kids attending matches.

America is is too dominant as a country on our culture and anybody who has been there recently will know it is not worth copying. Forget the Hollywood TV screen image of America, it is a broken shit hole.

I am not a 'miserable c**t' as you put it, I am positive, balanced and easy going. But I have never needed a Butlins Yellow Coat, a holiday rep or a DJ to show me how to have a good time.

People saying no to stuff is sometimes a positive and not a negative. Sometimes to get a really good experience - learn that Less Is More.

If they were to do anything it would be good if they invested more in the jsb options before the game and have a player wander through the section ( we may do this already and if not we always have a couple of injured players).

I've still not forgiven Sky for subjecting us to Sonia on an early MNF when they tried to make football a 'show'. Thankfully the SBA didn't let us down with a rendition of 'get your tits out for the lads' to completely drown her out.
