I like the woohoo smiley. Hopefully you'll be able to break it out again this season IF we win some games!
Has Bigi suddenly become a player who wasn't mediocre at best last season?
Everything would have been different if we hadn't sold Robert Rosario to Forest.....:facepalm::facepalm:
Neither - he was always highly-rated here, and sold for a pittance.
Funny how there's £millions available when it comes to getting SISU's greedy mitts on the Ricoh, yet as soon as bids come in for our better youngsters (Bigirimana, Thomas) it's a different story.
A Sky Blue Elephant Never Forgets::blue::blue::blue::blue::blue::blue::blue:
FFS! Fans whinge (and I mean whinge) for years that we don't own a penny of our stadium and then when we seem to have cobbled together some pennies to own a stake on it, the owners are still castigated!
This isn't a SISU supporting post, but damned if you do, damned if you don't.
We're seemingly set to have control of 50% of the Arena and the revenues that come with it. If we have to sacrifice some talent to fund this, then that's the way it has to be. Some points to consider:
* Bigi didn't have to say yes.
* If an employer 10 times your current employers size comes along and says 'right, we'll treble your wages (and I'm guessing there) and give you a better career development plan...oh, and we'll give you some European experience', you would go, wouldn't you??
* Coventry, like the every other like club who isn't Man City or Chelsea will always sell their best players for different reasons. You think Man Utd wanted to lose Ronaldo? You think Crewe wanted to lose Nick Powell? Clubs like Utd, Liverpool, Spurs lose players because those players want to further themselves. Clubs like Crewe, Cov etc lose players for the same reason but also to survive.
I agree...it's pretty shit seeing our talented youth leave. But lets not slag easy targets off for something that's always happened at lower league clubs and might actually help with our finances long term.
WM
Don't really understand what there is to be whining about here other than old news. Bigi was going to be sold sooner or later, we got a decent price, we shoved add-ons and future clauses into the deal, so it's hardly as though we could realistically refuse what was on offer.

Certainly not for the pathetic sum we got! Idiots.
The lad loves Coventry and was very happy - not the greedy type to kick up a fuss. It's like the Conor Thomas loan to Liverpool only worse.

We are where we are in the league pyramid because we sell all our players that are worth any money(not the odd one or two, every single one of them),and we have piss poor investment for the joke owners.

No sick boy, under sisu we've sold everyone that they could get money for. I know weve always sold our best players long before they showed up but these fuckers have had a firesale virtually from start.
And the bigi money was used to bring in older players? Yeh,of course it was.

If you read the post again I wasn't trying to compare the fee's or playersComparing the Bigi fee to the fees of Rhodes, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Powell is pretty ridiculous. Rhodes is in his early 20s, Oxlade-Chamberlain was clearly a very special prospect, and Powell is a goalscoring midfielder. All traits which make the transfer fees higher than they would for a 17 year old holding midfielder who wasn't exactly setting the world alight.
I think the real travesty is he's had to go to Newcastle to see players giving 100% in training.
If you read the post again I wasn't trying to compare the fee's or players
I was posing the question if they were our players do you think our board would have managed to get as large a transfer fee as the respective clubs did
Imo no as they would have been sold before they could make a significant prolonged impact in our first team to justify the value they went for (this is where I made the comparison to Gael)
Read over it again and see the point I was trying to make
This is all assuming it is my post you were referring to
Yea I know Gael wouldn't attract those amounts of money, I just think the club would have benefited more financially an on the pitch from keeping Bigi an allowing him to establish himself in the Coventry first team before he was sold.I was referring to yours, but maybe 'compare' was the wrong word.
I was just giving reasons why Bigi would sell for less than them at any club. Those three were sought after by several clubs, and were playing for sides that weren't short of a quid or two themselves, hence a bidding war and a bit extra to force them to sell. As far as I know there weren't a huge number of clubs clamouring after Bigi.
Our balance sheet dictates we need to sell players, which drives the prices down naturally. So to answer your question, no I don't think we would have go those prices for those players because of our financial situation, but I wouldn't blame SISU for that.
