We would be able to get a good estimate if somebody knew how many seats were in each stand .

The testco stand is 90% full by the looks of it , minus 2 empty unavailable blocks of roughly 1000 each

The corporate posh bit across is the same about 90% sold .

6 k in the away end expecting 4k roughly ..

We lose around 4000 in unavailable blocks in the home end

Plus whatever the away fans fail to sell .

So basically 6k leaves about 25000 with 1k segregation .

Yea I'd say 20-21 k at a push on Sunday

Tesco= 10,000
Each end= 6,000
Each corner= 2,000

Take off 2k for 1 corner

Let's say 5k sold in posh stand including corporate .

We lose 2k behind the goal in the Telegraph and sold by the looks of it about 1000 as of today .

So that's 6000

Tesco is about 90% full so that's 9000 add the 6000 that's 15000

The signers corner is about 65% full so that's 1300 that's 16300

Add forests expected 4k that's 20,300 give or take 1000, then walk up .

Does anybody disagree with my estimates based on the seating plan

I'd be well chuffed with 21k on sky on a Sunday if I'm totally honest ..beats 9k in league 2 🤣

I think you might well be pretty accurate there.

I don't think there will be much of a walk-up with TV & prices- maybe 22k total

I think people are forgetting that there will still be a sizeable number of people who are not yet ready to return to events like football matches with large crowds because of covid. If you are elderly or extremely clinically vulnerable regardless of the vaccine you may wait until the numbers of cases are lower.

In my opinion the club has improved on and off the field in lots of different ways over the last few years and I don't see why it will stop. We need to see as many young kids in the stadium this Sunday and going forward as possible. This could be the 1st time that child has watched the city's football team play in the city. If we encourage this and again make progress on the field things will only get better.

But we need to catch the local kid then no matter what result the love and pride you feel will make you come back. If we do well then attendance will look after itself and the team will get better with added income extra attendance brings. No matter the attendance Sunday create a good atmosphere, create a good environment and the fans will come and the new generation will play a part in what could be a good period in the clubs history.

Does all that good stuff mean they’ll take the game off TV and chop a tenner off prices?

Wouldn't make a difference.

People like you need a reality check, there's a "hardcore" fan base of around 12k, and that's it!
It doesnt matter how cheap the season tickets are, you arnt selling more than 12k max!
It's not a case of people needing excuses, people in Coventry just arnt bothered enough to attend regularly, so that's exactly why sisu have built the business model around realistic attendances.
I'd be suprised if we fill more than 3/4 of the stadium for the first game back.
And come the Preston game in the middle of winter, you wouldn't fill 3/4 of the ground if you gave the tickets away!

It's an eye opener for me.

Will be obvious on Sunday night if/when our home crowd is lower than most in the league.

I'd imagine Stoke, Derby, Bristol City, Cardiff, Sheffield United and Fulham will all have bigger home turn outs this weekend.

Why? Most season tickets sold since the 70s, we don’t have many missing fans unless it’s £5, it’s just what our fanbase is

Because this isn't like many games in the last 20 years. If this was the start of any random season, I'd be impressed with 17k.

It's not though.

32,000?

There are 2 corners and 2 ends

the bits between each end and the posh stand aren't corners, they're part of the 6,000

I wasn't having a go, I just wasn't sure if you were trying to explain how many seats each stand had, or if you were trying to predict the total attendance for Sunday by stand split.

He loves this sort of thing - when he posted as Ring of Shite he argues for ages how many seats the away end at St Andrews had

There probably would have been 15k at the Crewe and Gillingham games if it was £30, a lot of people who went to them games weren’t Coventry fans, they went because it was cheap and/or to get Wembley tickets

Fans moan about ticket prices and moan if the club doesn`t invest in new players !!

PS We make more money from Sky than if we had an additional 5,000 fans

I agree. Which is disappointing for a one club city.

15,000 people who weren't Coventry City fans in the ground you say- were they just lost or something?

Tbf the family behind us needed enlightening on who Steven Pressley was when fans were singing his name. No joke!

Out of a group of 10 of us a few seasons back it’s just me my dad and 1 other. The excitement just isn’t there for loads of people still, for the first game and the season. A lot of circumstances have changed, got kids now etc and used to doing other things. Results will bring them back.

People suggesting 30k etc are way off.

I’ll be honest I was in two minds myself but promised my dad. Now massively looking forward to it.

Tv and covid are main reason it will be 20k imo

But 20k avg all season long wouldn't be bad would it?

100%

I understand people's concerns, there are still some glaring holes at CB & CDM (whilst Kelly & Eccles are out) but on the whole we're okayish. These are problems we're aware of & actively looking to address but can't magic the signings out of the ether, we need the parent clubs to agree to let them go. I'm certain we'll have at least 2 more bodies in, probably 3, before the end of the window & hopefully at least one sooner rather than later.

Substantively we are most definitely stronger than a year ago. I think people lose sight of the big picture a lot to be honest.

We won that game against Gillingham and there were only 11,000 there the next week against Yeovil

When Villa were last in the Championship they got 42,000 one week and 27k the next, it proves nothing apart from that when things are good there are thousands that will show up. And things have very rarely been good for us. Even when they were nobody could watch and it will take a while to get more to come.

The Forest match really isn't this huge, momentous occasion loads of people seem to think it is, people can't be arsed, that doesn't mean they are automatically disqualified as supporters. Its Forest- so what? Its not as if we haven't played them before, it costs loads, its on TV and we're likely to have a difficult season.

All this huge knee jerk stuff about "THERE WON'T BE 30,000 THERE ON SUNDAY WHICH PROVES WE HAVE NO FANS" is just silliness.
